Born 31 January 1836 at Prestonsburg, Floyd County, Kentucky.  Died 13 July 1914 at Bristow, Creek County, Oklahoma; interred there in Bristow Cemetery.  Moved from Kentucky to Arkansas between 1863 and 1866.

 

1860 US Census: (enumerated Aug 1860) Henry Boyd, age 22 (b. KY) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household at/near Prestonsburg, Floyd County, Kentucky.  No real estate value; $25 personal property value.  The household also included his wife, Lucinda Boyd, age 22 (b. KY); son, Harrison J. Boyd, age 2 (b. KY); and daughter, Sarah J. Boyd, age 1 month (b. KY).

 

1870 US Census: (enumerated Jun 1870) Henry Boyd, age 32 (b. KY) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Mulberry Township (Ozark Post Office), Franklin County, Arkansas.  His personal property was valued at $100.  The household also included his wife, Lucinda Boyd, age 31 (b. KY); son, Jasper Boyd, age 13 (b. KY); son, Thomas Boyd, age 11 (b. KY); daughter, Sarah Boyd, age 9 (b. KY) [note, perhaps Thomas and Sarah reversed]; daughter, Catharine Boyd, age 7 (b. VA) and employed as a miller, was heading a household in Lee Creek Township, Crawford County, Arkansas.  The household also included his wife of 44 years, Laucinda M. Boyd, age 63 (b. Apr 1837 in KY; parents b. VA), who had had 11 children, 8 of whom were still alive; and son, Henry M. Boyd, age 21 (b. Jun 1878 in AR; parents b. KY), single, and employed as a farmer.  Of interest, the household headed by his son, John W. Boyd, age 27 (b. Oct 1872 in AR) was enumerated before him on the same census page.

(Dodson) Barker, in 1878.  Married (2nd), as her 2nd husband, Dora Belva Harbert (b. 9 Sep 1867 at Cassville, Barry Co., MO, d. 25 Apr 1948 at Hominy, Osage Co., OK; interred with Harrison), daughter of Francis M. and Ann Elizabeth (Lee) Harbert, in 1907.

 

b. Sarah Jane Boyd: Born 29 May 1860.  Died 24 April 1919; interred Stroud Cemetery, Stroud, Lincoln County, Oklahoma.  Married Joseph Rushing Townsend (b. 25 Nov 1855 in AL, d. 28 May 1933; interred with Sarah) in 1878.

 

c. Thomas Jefferson Boyd: Born 14 March 1862 in Floyd County, Kentucky.  Died 15 February 1927 in Oklahoma; interred Arpelar Cemetery, Arpelar, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma.  Married (1st) Sena E. Nabours (b. 26 May 1870, d. 2 Sep 1887; interred Hall Cem., Natural Dam, Crawford Co., AR), daughter of Allen H. Nabours, in 1887.  Married (2nd) Rebecca Ann Nabours (b. Apr 1873 in AR, d. 1935; interred with Thomas), also the daughter of Allen H. Nabours.

1900 US Census: John W. Boyd, age 27 (b. Oct 1872 in AR; parents b. KY) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Lees Creek Township, Crawford County, Arkansas.  The household also included his wife of 8 years, Laura A. Boyd, age 24 (b. Jun 1875 in AR; father b. MO; mother b. TX), who had had 4 children, all still alive; son, Claud H. Boyd, age 7 (b. Apr 1893 in AR; parents b. AR); son, Samuel V. Boyd, age 5 (b. May 1895 in AR; parents b. AR); son, Omer V. Boyd, age 3 (b. Feb 1897 in OK; parents b. AR); and son, John F. Boyd, age 7 months (b. Oct 1899 in AR; parents b. AR) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Prairie Township, Washington County, Arkansas.  The household also included his wife, Winnie Boyd, age 24 (b. AR; parents b. IN); son, Terry Boyd, age 11 (b. TX; parents b. AR); sister, Reba Boyd, age 9 (b. TX; parents b. AR); and father-in-law, George Guisnger, age 70 (b. IN; parents b. OH), widowed, and not employed.

 

At age 22, while a resident of Fayetteville, Washington County, Arkansas, Claud Boyd married (1st) Winnie May/Mae Guisinger (b. 1894, d. 9 May 1927; interred Mount Comfort Cem., Fayetteville, Washington Co., AR), age 22 and also a resident of Fayetteville, daughter of George Guisinger, on 2 July 1919 (license issued 1 Jul 1919) and had children.  Married (2nd), as her 2nd husband, Rena Mabel Waits (b. 28 Sep 1893, d. 30 Sep 1978; interred with Claude), daughter of Whitman Stoddard and Mabel Matilda (Stevens) Waits.

Vernon Samuel Boyd "Samuel": Born 7 May 1895 at Natural Dam, Crawford County, Arkansas.  Died 4 January 1948 at Tucson, Pima County, Arizona; interred Fairview Memorial Gardens, Fayetteville, Washington County, Arkansas.  Married Irene Daisy Ivey (b. 8 Jul 1902 at Fayetteville, Washington Co., AR, d. there 23 Dec 1990; interred with Vernon), daughter of Leonard Mahley and Delia Alice (Ballew) Ivey.

John Franklin/Frank Boyd: Born 14 October 1899 in Lampasas County, Texas.  Died 24 June 1959; interred Rock Church Cemetery, Rumley, Lampasas County, Texas.  Married Flora Ann Trussell (b. 9 Aug 1904 in Lampasas Co., TX, d. there 2 Feb 1974; interred with John), daughter of William Thomas and Julia Elizabeth (Terry) Trussell, in 1923.

OK) and employed as a cook in a café, who had completed 8th grade; daughter, Reba Boyd, age 18 (b. OK) and employed as a telephone operator for a telephone company; son, Leo Boyd, age 16 (b. OK) and employed as a cashier for a public school; son, Carl Boyd, age 14 (b. OK); daughter, Dolly Boyd, age 12 (b. OK); son, Frank Boyd, age 7 (b. AZ); and son, Bob Boyd, age 5 (b. AZ).

 

1940 US Census: (enumerated twice; 2nd on 7 Apr 1940) Rudolph Boyd, age 38 (b. AR), married, and employed as a cook for a hotel, resided in the  San Joaquin County Jail, Stockton Township, San Joaquin County, California.  He had completed 8th grade, and on 1 April 1935 he resided at Tucson, Pima County, Arizona.

 

Rudolph Boyd married LaVerne Boone (b. 28 Jan 1900 in Oklahoma, d. 19 Sep 1981 at Lodi, San Joaquin Co., CA; interred with Rudolph) in 1919.

Born 15 February 1908 at Tyler, Smith County, Texas.  Died 5 March 1991 at Lodi, San Joaquin County, California; interred there in Lodi Memorial Park and Cemetery.  Moved to California in 1945.

 

1920 US Census: Terry Boyd, age 11 (b. TX) resided in the household headed by his brother (he is referred to as son), Claud Boyd, age 26 (b. AR) and employed as a farmer, in Prairie Township, Washington County, Arkansas.

 

1930 US Census: No record found.

 

1940 US Census: Terry R. Boyd, age 32 (b. TX) and employed as a caterpillar driver for the WPA [Works Progress Administration], was heading a household at 1216 E. Manlove Street in the City of Tucson, Pima County, Arizona.  He had completed 1 year of high school.  The household also included his wife, Lorane Boyd, age 24 (b. AZ), who had completed 8th grade; daughter, Alice Boyd, age 7 (b. AZ); son, Omer L. Boyd, age 6 (b. AZ); son, Frank W. Boyd, age 4 (b. AZ); and son, Terry R. Boyd, age 3 (b. AZ).  On 1 April 1935 they resided in the same city.

Mickna, whose step-daughter, Virginia Ellen Rockwood, married Loraine's brother, Henry "Hank" Hopkins, and whose daughter, Marty Grace Mickna, married (1st) Loraine's son, Emerson Lee Boyd (see generation 1, below).

Born 7 February 1934 at Tucson, Pima County, Arizona.  Died 9 March 1999 in a veteran's hospital at Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana; interred Plaquemine, Iberville Parish, Louisiana.  Was a rodeo contestant before marriage.  Married, as her 1st husband, Marty Grace Mickna, descendant #2.2 of generation 8 of the Descendants of Martha Hazel-Mae (Cool)(Slater)(Finney) Smith in 1955 at Tucson, Pima County, Arizona; divorced there in February/March of 1966.
