Born 3 February 1735/34 at Chicopee (later Springfield), Hampden County, Massachusetts.  Died 13 February 1830, age 96, at his son, Japhet's residence at Buckland, Franklin County, Massachusetts (also seen: d. Madison Co., NY).  Moved from Springfield to Ashfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts.  Veteran of the Revolutionary War; served in the grade of sergeant at Fort Ticonderoga, Essex County, New York, where he was captured.  Escaped and returned to Springfield, Massachusetts, where he reenlisted.

Born 1731/33 at South Hadley, Hampshire County, Massachusetts (also seen: b. Hunterstown, MA).  Died 1787.  Before marriage resided at Hunts Town/Hunterstown (later Ashfield), Massachusetts.  Intent to marry Nathan Chapin recorded 16 November 1757; marriage 15 December 1757.
