1850 US Census: Simon S. Christy, age 40 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  His real estate was valued at $3,000.   The household also included his brother, George Christy, age 28 (b. NYS); son, Charles Christy, age 13 (b. NYS); son, Simon Christy, age 4 months (b. NYS); wife, Hannah Christy, age 30 (b. NYS); and daughter, Sarah Christy, age 11 (b. NYS).

 

1855 NYS Census: Simon S. Christie, age 45 (b. Fulton Co., NY) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Hannah Christie, age 40 (b. Fulton Co., NY); son, Charles Christie, age 18 (b. Fulton Co., NY); daughter, Sarah Jane Christie, age 16 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); son, John Christie, age 5 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); and brother, George Christie, age 35 (b. Fulton Co., NY), single, and employed as a farmer.  Simon, Hannah, Charles, and Sarah moved to LeRay Township about 1843; George about 1845.

NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in LeRay Township (Sanford Corners Post Office), Jefferson County, New York.  His real estate was valued at $7,400, and his personal property was valued at $1,200.  The household also included his wife, Hannah Cristy, age 45 (b. NYS); daughter, Sarah J. Cristy, age 21 (b. NYS); son, John Cristy, age 10 (b. NYS); Ann Felt, age 19 (b. NYS); and brother, George Cristy, age 40 (b. 1860 US Census: Chas H. Christie, age 23 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Rockford Township (Rockford Post Office), Floyd County, Iowa.  His real estate was valued at $3,800, and his personal property was valued at $410.  The household also included his wife, Lydia C. Christie, age 25 (b. NYS).

 

1870 US Census: Charles Christie, age 34 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Brownville Township (Dexter Post Office), Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Lydia Christie, age 38 (b. NYS); son, James S. Christie, age 9 (b. NYS); daughter, Carry Christie, age 6 (b. NYS); C. R. Francie, age 17 (b. Canada) and employed as a farmer; and Janie Rector?, age 23 (b. NYS) and employed as a housekeeper.

Montgomery Co., NY) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Brownville Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Lydia Christie, age 43 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); son, James Christie, age 14 (b. IA); daughter, Carri Christie, age 11 (b. IA); hired help, James Wright, age 29 (b. Jefferson Co., NY), married, and employed as a farm laborer; and hired help, Gertrude Wright, age 33 (b. Jefferson Co., NY), married, and employed as a farm laborer.

Jefferson Co., NY); daughter, Carrie E. Clark, age 6 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); servant, Sarah Winner, age 28 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); and servant, John Cooper, age 18 (b. Jefferson Co., NY).

Oct 1860), was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife of 15 years, Carrie Christie (age 41 - b. Apr 1859); daughter, Marsha (sp) Christie (age 8 - b. May 1891); boarder, Charles (sp) Christie (age 81 - Feb 1819, single, not employed); and boarder, Lydia (sp) Christie (age 68 - May 1832, widowed, not employed).

 

1910 US Census: James S. Cristie, age 49 (b. IA; parents b. NYS), with his own income, was heading a household on Main Street in the Village of Evans Mills, LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He had been married once.  The household also included his wife of 25 years, Carrie O. Cristie, age 51 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and not employed, who had been married once and had had 2 children, 1 of whom was still alive; daughter, Marcia L. Cristie, age 19 (b. NYS), single, and not employed; mother-in-law, Marcia O. Clark, age 81 (b. NYS), widowed, and not employed, who had had 3 children, all still alive; aunt, Gerene A. Eldred [should be Eldridge], age 63 (b. NYS), widowed, and not employed; and cousin, Mina H. Bacon, age 49 (b. NYS; parents b. 1920 US Census: James S. Christie, age 59 (b. IA, parents b. NYS), was heading a household on Main Street in the Village of Evans Mills, LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Carrie Christie (age 60, b. NYS, as were her parents); daughter, Marcia Christie (age 28, single); and cousin, Mina Bacon (age 58).

 

1930 US Census: Carrie E. Christie, age 71 (m. 1st age 26), was heading a household in Evans Mills, LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included her daughter, Marcia P. Christie (age 39, single); niece, Christine Gardner (age 31, single, employed as a school teacher)[dau of Dr. Levi Elijah Gardner]; boarder, Thomas Adrian (age 81, single); boarder, Nelson J. Ramsdell (age 26, single); and boarder, James H. Keiling (age 65, married).

 

James S. Christie married Carrie E. Clark (b. 6/5 Apr 1859 in Jefferson Co., NY, d. 14 Mar 1932; interred with James), also a cousin of Myron Parsons Gardner, daughter of James and Maria (?) Clark of Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York, about 1885 and had the following children:
