(1. Charles "Charlie" Duane Churchill: (more info) Born 7 September 1865 in Jefferson County, New York.  Died 9 May 1870, age 4, in Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York from complications of scarlet fever.

 

(2. William "Will" Byron Churchill: Born 2 November 1869 in Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Died 21 April 1920 at Watertown, Jefferson County.

 

1920 US Census: William B. Churchill, age 50 and employed as a carpenter, was heading a household at 1121 Gill Street in the City of Watertown, Watertown Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Dora Churchill (age 45); son-in-law, Howard Vrooman (age 22, employed as an auto driver for the bus line); and Howard’s wife, Nellie Vrooman (age 19).

 

William Byron Churchill married Dora A. Phillips (b. abt 1875) and had the following daughter:

 

a. Nellie Churchill: Born about 1901.  Married Howard Vrooman (b. abt 1898).

Churchill, age 38 and employed as a farmer, was heading a household on Dybiville (sp) Road in Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife of 16 years, Lena B. Churchill (age 37, had had 2 children, both still alive); son, Earl B. Churchill (age 13); and son, Neil S. Churchill (age 11).

 

1920 US Census: Frank A. Churchill, age 48 and employed as an automobile repairman in a garage, was heading a household in Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Lena B. Churchill (age 46).

 

1930 US Census: Frank A. Churchill, age 58 and employed as an auto mechanic, was heading a household in Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Lena B. Churchill (age 57).

 

Frank A. Churchill married (1st) Lena Bell Thomson (b. 15 Mar 1873, d. 13 Jun 1930), daughter of Starr Horatio and Mary Bell/Belle (Wilson) Thomson, and had the following children:

 

(a. Earl Baxter Churchill: Born 25 May 1896 in South Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Died 27 January 1982 at Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.  Operated the family homestead farm on Churchill Road.

 

1920 US Census: Earl B. Churchill, age 23 and employed as a dairy farmer, was heading a household in Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Ida R. Churchill (age 23); and son, Raymond G. Churchill (age 9 months).

 

1930 US Census: Earl B. Churchill, age 33 (1st m. age 22), was heading a household on Churchill Road in Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Ida R. Churchill (age 34, 1st m. age 22); son, Raymond J. Churchill (age 11); and son, Robert E. Churchill (age 6).

 

Earl B. Churchill married Ida Roberta Lewis (b. 23 Mar 1896, d. 9 Nov 1969), daughter of Lewis Grant and Sarah Jennie (Hardy) Lewis, on 1 July 1918 and had the following children:

 

(1) Raymond Grant Churchill: (more info) Born 22 March 1919 at home on Churchill Road in south Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Died Thursday, 30 November 1995, age 76; remains cremated; interred Brookside Cemetery, Watertown, Jefferson County.  Graduated 1938 from Adams Center High School, Adams Center, Jefferson County.  Operated the family homestead farm (Churchill Honey Farms) at 18161 County Road 156 (Churchill Road), Burrville, Watertown Township, Jefferson County.  Was also a beekeeper for 57 years and a residential & farm construction contractor.  Married Mabel Mae Sampson (b. 1926), daughter of Daniel Benjamin and Lila Cleo (VanCor) Sampson, on 18 March 1944 and had the following children:

 

(a) Rebecca Jean Churchill: Born 1944 at Mercy Hospital, Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.  Married (1st) David Herbert Conklin (b. 1942), son of David and Bernice Abbey (Gould) Conklin, and had the following children:

(b. Neil Starr Churchill: Born 29 June 1898 at Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.  Died May 1964 at Rome, Oneida County, New York.  Married Edna May Hamlin (b. 17 June 1899 in Rutland Twp, NY, d. 10 January 1956 at Clinton, NY) and had the following children:

1940 US Census: Sarah Churchill, age 68 (b. NYS) and widowed, was heading a household in the Village of Black River, Jefferson County, New York.  She had completed 4 years of high school.  The household also included her sister, Louise Pawling, age 71 (b. NYS) and widowed.

 

(4. Nellie Maud Churchill: Born 10 November 1880 in Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Died 6 October 1912 at Watertown, Jefferson County.  Married Herbert Dexter Scott.

 

c. George Merritt Churchill: Born 1838.  Died 1883.

 

d. Cyrus William Churchill: Born 7 May 1840.  Died 7 November 1927.

 

1870 US Census: Cyrus, age 29 and employed as a stone mason, was heading a household in Wilna Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Ann L., age 24, and son, Herbert, age 2.

 

e. John Archibald Churchill: Born 19 February 1943.  Died 13 August 1916.

1870 US Census: Henry C. Churchill, age 34 and employed as a carpenter, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Mary L. Churchill (age 27); daughter, Emma E. Churchill (age 10); daughter, Nettie Churchill (age 9) and son, Freddie Churchill (age 3).

 

1880 US Census: Clinton Churchill, age 44 (b. NYS, as were his parents) and employed as a carpenter, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Mary L. Churchill (age 36, b. NYS, as were her parents); daughter, Emma Churchill (age 20); daughter, Nettie Churchill (age 18); and son, Fred Churchill (age 13).  All were born in New York State.

 

1900 US Census: Clinton, age 64 (b. Dec 1835) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife of 41 years, Mary L. Churchill (age 66, b. Aug 1833, had had 3 children, all still alive); daughter, Nettie L. Churchill (age 38 – b. Aug 1861, single, employed as a school teacher); and son, Fred C. Churchill (age 32 – b. Jun 1867, single, employed as a jeweler).

 

1910 US Census: Henry Churchill, age 74, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his 2nd wife of 1 year, Kathryn Churchill (age 58, also her 2nd marriage, had had 6 children, all still alive).

 

1920 US Census: Henry Churchill, age 84 and a widower, was living in the household of his son-in-law, Merrill Seward (age 69 and employed as a farmer) on Cross Road in Champion Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included Henry’s daughter, Nettie (Churchill) Seward (age 58); and Theodore Henry (no relation to Merrill, age 73, widowed).

1920 US Census: Merrill Seward, age 69 and employed as a farmer, was heading a household on Cross Road in Champion Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Nettie, age 58; and father-in-law, Henry Churchill, age 84 and a widower.

 

Nettie married, as his 2nd wife, Merrill W. Seward (b. abt 1851 in NYS, d. 22 Nov 1933 in LeRay Twp), a farmer, on 9 June 1904 and resided on Cross Road in Champion Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Merrill had the following children from his (1st) marriage to Eva L. (?):
