Queens County, Long Island, N.Y.). Of interest, John Benedict was a member of
the Connecticut Legislature several times during the period Oct 1739 to May
1765. (Something probably wrong here -
seems unlikely; Rebecca’s parents would be ages 11 and 10.) Matthew and Sarah (Benedict) Crofut had the
following children:
(1. Matthew Crofut, Jr.: Born 1735. Died 1795. Married Sarah Buck (b. 1735, d. 1805) on 25
December 1765 at Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut and had children.
(2. Hannah Crofut: Born 3 April 1742 at Danbury,
Fairfield County, Connecticut. Died 1 June 1825 in Ulster Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Married Eli Holcomb (b. abt 2 Feb 1741 at
Granby, Hartford Co., CT, d. 10 May 1823 in Ulster Twp, Bradford Co., PA),
generation 3 of the Holcombe Annex, on 10 March 1764 at
Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut and had children.
