2.  Ann’s birth: 1919 at home in an old, converted Quaker Meeting Place at Ward’s Corners between Evans Mills and LeRaysville in the Town of LeRay, Jefferson County, New York.

 

    Ann's death: 21 July 2012 (about 3:30 PM) at the Samaritan Keep Home, Washington Street, Watertown, New York from complications of old age.  She had been a resident there since 2010.  Cremated remains interred 17 August 2012 in Brookside Cemetery, Watertown.  Memorial service 18 August 2012 at the United Methodist Church, Church Street, Adams, New York.

Lew’s death: 7 February 1991 at home on Park Street in Adams, Jefferson County, New York from complications of old age; interred Brookside Cemetery, Watertown, New York.  Prior to death Lew had been confined to his bed for several years, cared for by Ann and their children.

1920 US Census: Laura Barry, age 44 (b. England; parents b. England), widowed, and not employed, was heading a household at 2615 Shattwick Avenue in the City of Berkley, Oakland Township, Alameda County, California.  She immigrated to the US in 1895 and became a naturalized citizen in 1897.  The household also included her son, Arthur F. Barry, age 21 (b. CA), single, and employed as an apprentice electrician in the electrical manufacturing industry; and son, Kenneth Barry, age 18 (b. CA), single, and not employed.

 

1930 US Census: No clear record found for Leah (Jones) Burdick.

 

1930 US Census: Laura Barry, age 58 (b. England; parents b. England) and widowed, was heading a household at 2615 Shattwick Avenue in the City of Berkley, Alameda County, California.  She immigrated to the US in 1893 (subsequently naturalized), married 1st at age 24, and her residence was valued at $6,000.  The household also included her son, Arthur F. Barry, age 31 (b. CA; father b. NYS; mother b. England), single, and employed as a service man for Frigidaire machines.

 

1940 US Census: Arthur F. Barry, age 39 (b. CA) and employed as a refrigerator man for a milk company, was heading a household at 378 44th Street in the City of Oakland, Oakland Township, Alameda County, California.  He had completed 4 years of high school.  The household also included his wife, Leah Barry, age 48 (b. CA), who had completed 4 years of high school; and daughter, Nancy Barry, age 7 (b. CA).   On 1 April 1935 they resided in the same house.

(8)  Other biographical notes on Lew:

 

a. In 1908 resided with his mother at San Diego, California and had a sailboat.

 

b.  When married: 28 July 1957 at Tupper Lake, Franklin County, New York; officiated by Reverend Bicknell.  Anna's sister, Agnes (Drake) Smalley, had a daughter, Annette Smalley, who, at about age 1 month, was going to be baptized 28 July 1957 at Tupper Lake, where Agnes and her husband had resided shortly after marriage and had gotten to know and respect Reverend Bicknell and his wife of that village.  Since Anna and her parents were going to be present at Annette's baptism, Anna and Lew decided to get married there the same day, with Agnes (Drake) Smalley serving as Anna's Maid of Honor, and Phil Smalley serving as Lew's Best Man.  The only other family attendees were Anna's parents and Phil Smalley's parents.
