"The
Flath and Gölz families
arrived together in 1854 aboard the Powhattan refugee
schooner (arriving on what later became Thanksgiving). The Flaths
were indentured to their hometown friends, the Bickelhaupts,
who had arrived 10 yrs earlier and sent home for dairy farm help from their old
Odenwald neighborhood. Sharing the same
language, jobs and churches (and needing new kids to help on the farms) it was
natural that most of the Germans who knew each other back in Hessen wound up
marrying each other here."

(Eichler) Davis, on 22 April 1950 at Watertown,
Jefferson County, New York and had children.

International Harvester dealership in Theresa, New York. Was also employed for a period of time as a
grocer. Was also a member of the
Fraternal Order of Masons. Resided in
Philadelphia, Watertown, Clayton, and Theresa (Ogdensburg Rd, 13691), all in
Jefferson County, New York. In 1991
moved to Herkimer, Herkimer County, New York, residing there at 115 ˝ E. German

was apparently heading a household, perhaps under the same roof as the
Christopher Gilts household (same visitation #), in Theresa Township, Jefferson
County, New York. Elisebith's
household also included her son, Ted? Gilts, age 22 (b. Germany) and employed
as an inn keeper?; and son, Miller Gilts, age 16 (b.
Germany) and single. Of interest, the
Christopher Gilts household was enumerated directly before Elisebith
