1860 US Census: Simeon, age 51 and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Sterlingville, LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Lydia (age 47); daughter, Sarah A. NYS, as were his parents) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Wilna Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Esther A. Hicks (age 38, b. NYS, father b. VT, mother, b. NYS); daughter, Clara M. Hicks (age 12); son, Clarence E. Hicks (age 10); son, Dennis Hicks (age 7); daughter, Lucy A. Hicks (age 3); son, Frederick Hicks (age 10 months – b. Jul 1879); Frederick Wilson (age 14, employed as a farm hand, b. IA, as were his parents); and mother-in-law, Sarah Goodnough (age 72, b. CT, as were her parents).

 

1900 US Census: William, age 60 (b. Aug 1839) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Philadelphia Township.  The household also included his wife of 34 years, Ester Ann Hicks (age 60, b. Jun 1839, had had 5 children, all still alive); son, Dennis Hicks (age 28 – b. Mar 1872, single); daughter, Amelia Hicks (age 22 – b. Jan 1878, single); and son, Fred W. Hicks (age 20 – b. Jul 1879, single).  All, and their parents, were born in New York State.

 

William E. Hicks married Esther A. Goodnough (b. abt 1842 in NYS), daughter of (?) and Sarah (?) Goodnough (b. abt 1808 in CT; parents also b. CT), and had the following children:

1860 US Census: Jonathan, age 56 and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Theresa Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Lovina Hicks (age 52); son, Byron Hicks (age 20, employed as a farm laborer); and daughter, Chlorinda Hicks (age 13).  All were born in New York State.

 

Jonathan Hicks married Lovina (?) (b. abt 1808) and had the following children:

1860 US Census: Oliver, age 33 and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Melissa E. Hicks (age 24); and Reina Weymoth (age 26, b. Switzerland).

 

1870 US Census: Melissa Hicks, age 34 and employed as a house keeper in the household of Duty G. Mosher (age 74, a retired farmer) in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included Duty’s wife, Martha Mosher (age 68).  All were born in New York State.

Feb 1848 in NYS, father b. at sea, mother b. NYS), who was heading a farming household in Antwerp Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included Brayton’s wife, Sarah (Hicks) Clark (age 42 – b. Mar 1858 in NYS, parents b. Ireland, both of her two children were still alive); daughter, Lattie Clark (age 19 – b. Feb 1881, single); and daughter, Carrie Clark (age 10 – b. Jul 1888, single).

 

Robert Hicks married Wilhemina “Mina” (?) (b. abt 1824 in Ireland) and had the following children:

Feb 1885 in NYS, father b. England, mother b. Ireland, single); and daughter, Helen B. Chamberlain (age 12 – b. Dec 1887 in NYS, father b. England, mother b. Ireland, single).
