1. Biographical notes:

 

Born 23 May 1804 at Canterbury, Kent, England. Died 6 April 1851 in Alexandria Township, Jefferson County, New York; interred Brookside Cemetery, Plessis, Jefferson County. Was age 28 and a skilled wood worker residing at Canterbury when John Lafarge, founder of Lafargeville, Jefferson County, New York, sent for him to work on a mansion he was building at Lafargeville. Leaving his wife and 3 children behind, George landed at New York City on 27 September 1832 and proceeded to Lafargeville. Worked there for a little more than 3 years when he had saved enough to send for his wife and children. Initially resided near his work on the LaFarge mansion, but eventually purchased a 35-acre farm at Tanners Corners on the Plessis to Lafargeville Road.

 

2. Wife: Mary Rose

 

Born 13 August 1806 at Feversham, Kent, England, daughter of Richard Rose. Died 22 February 1876 at Plessis, Jefferson County, New York. Married George Hunneyman on 19 September 1824 in England.

Born 27 March 1827 at Theresa, Jefferson County, New York. Died 18 February 1895 at Plessis, Jefferson County; interred Brookside Cemetery, Plessis. Married George Rose Hunneyman on 19 March 1851.

a. Elida "Dell" Hunneyman: Born 22 March 1852 in Alexandria Township, Jefferson County, New York. Died after 1932. Married Adelbert D. Williams (b. 1 Nov 1852 at Lafargeville, Jefferson Co., NY, d. 14 Jan 1928, age 75, at home in the Village of Plessis, Jefferson County, from complications of a heart attack; interred Broodside Cemetery, Plessis), son of Willard and Caroline (Rhines) Williams of Alexandria on 1 November 1875 and resided on the Williams farm about 2 miles west of Plessis, Jefferson County. Adelbert was employed as a farmer, retiring in 1905, but, over time, was also a Grange leader, Director of the Redwood National Bank, Town Assessor, Highway Commissioner, and Director of the Plessis Co-operative Store. In 1932 Elida resided on Wall Street in the Village of Plessis, Jefferson County. Elida and Adelbert had the following children: (order uncertain)

 

(1. DeForest/DeForrest "Foster"/"Forie" E. Williams: Born 1878. Died 1948; interred Brookside Cemetery, Plessis, Jefferson County, New York. Employed as a farmer. Married Ella Van Brocklin (b. 1881, d. 1973; interred Brookside Cem.) and resided at Lafargeville. DeForest and Ella had the following children: (order uncertain)

 

(a. E. Gladys Williams: Graduated from Potsdam Normal School, Potsdam, St. Lawrence County, New York and subsequently taught school near Alexandria Bay, Jefferson County, New York. Married J. Martin Reynolds, son of Edward Reynolds of Alexandria Bay, at Lafargeville, Orleans Township, Jefferson County. Martin graduated from Alexandria Bay High School and subsequently managed an automotive repair business in the Village of Alexandria Bay.

 

(b. Glenn A. Williams: Employed as a farmer. Married Alice M. Spies (b. 18 Oct 1906), daughter of John Spies of Redwood, Jefferson County, New York, on 26 June 1928 and had the following children: (order uncertain)

 

(1) Virginia "Ginnie" A. Williams: Born 6 May 1941 at Watertown, Jefferson County, New York. Died 2 October 2005, age 64, at Alexandria Bay, Jefferson County. Graduated from Alexandria Central School. Married (1st) John M. Kring and had the following children:

 

(a) Timothy Kring: Married Dianne (?) and resided in New York.

 

(b) Tad Kring: Married Cathy (?) and resided in Florida.

 

John and Virginia (Williams) Kring were subsequently divorced. Virginia married (2nd) Jack Ely on 29 September 1989 at Lake Placid, New York.

 

(2) Roy Williams: Married Patricia "Patty" (?) and resided in New York.

 

(3) Douglas G. Williams: Married Lynda (?) and resided in New York.

Married Kate Hosner of Alexandria on 10 October 1875 and had the following children:

 

(1. Clara Hunneyman: Married (?) Van Dressar and resided at Redwood, Jefferson County, New York.

 

(2. Nettie Hunneyman: Married (?) Reynolds.

 

(3. Dessie Hunneyman: Married (?) Reed.

 

c. Byron R. Hunneyman: Born 12 March 1855/54/57 in Alexandria Township, Jefferson County, New York. Died Tuesday, 8 May, 1928, age 73, at the House of the Good Samaritan Hospital, Watertown, Jefferson County; interred Evans Mills Cemetery, LeRay Township. Resided initially at Evans Mills and Theresa, Jefferson County. Employed as a farmer. Married Ida May Snell (b. 1858, d. 1912; interred Evans Mills Cem.) and resided at Lafargeville, Orleans Township, Jefferson County, New York. Byron and Ida had the following children:

 

(1. Erle Snell Hunneyman: Born 1 December 1894. Died June 1970 at St. Petersville, Florida. Resided initially at Black River, Jefferson County, New York. In 1918 moved to Lafargeville, Jefferson County, New York. About 1932 moved to Clayton Township, Jefferson County. Married Lottie Decker (d. Jul 1979), daughter of Wallace C. Decker of Theresa, Jefferson County, and had the following children:

 

(a. Harley Maurice Hunneyman: Born 1920 at LaFargeville, Jefferson County, New York. Veteran of World War II; served in the Army Air Corps. Self employed as a carpenter. Married Jean Ruth Chapell (b. 30 Dec 1928, d. 25 May 2005) of Byron, Genesee County, New York in 1952 at Byron, and settled in New York. Harley and Jean had the following children:

 

(1) Gary Lee Hunneyman: Born 1956 at Batavia, Genesee County, New York. In 2013 resided in Nevada. Married Ginger Cole of Holley, Murray Township, Orleans County, New York; subsequently divorced; no children.

 

(2) Craig Harley Hunneyman: Born 1957 at Batavia, Genesee County, New York. In 2013 resided in California. Married Carol Rymarczyk and had the following son:

 

(a) Chaston Harley Hunneyman: Born 2000 at Huntington Beach, Orange County, California.

 

(3) Mark Alan Hunneyman: Born 1959 at Batavia, Genesee County, New York. In 2013 resided in New York. Never married; no children.

 

(b. Roger Decker Hunneyman: Died before 2003.

 

(c. Catherine Eleanore Hunneyman: Died before 2003. Married James Comins and resided at St. Lawrence.

 

(d. Erle Snell Hunneyman, Jr.: Born 13 November 1916 at Black River, Rutland/LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York. Died 11 August 2003, age 86, at Mercy of Northern New York, Watertown, Jefferson County; interred Evans Mills Cemetery. Attended rural and Lafargeville High School. Employed as a farmer on Fox Hill Road, Clayton Township, Jefferson County, retiring in 1987. Veteran of US Army from 1935 to 1957, serving during World War II (by one account served in the US Navy). Married (1st) Virginia (?) and had the following daughter:

 

(1) Janet I. Hunneyman: Married Frank K. LeFleur and had 2 daughters.

 

Erle and Virginia (?) Hunneyman were subsequently divorced. Erle married (2nd) Ruby (?), but they were subsequently divorced. Erle married (3rd) Pauline R. (Garnsey) McFadden (d. 17 Aug 1994) on 4 May 1964 at the First Baptist Church, Clayton.

 

(e. Violet Ida Hunneyman: Born 1 May 1919 at Lafargeville, Orleans Township, Jefferson County, New York. Died there Saturday, 19 February 1938, age 18, from complications of a heart ailment; interred Clayton Cemetery. Attended Clayton High School.

 

(f. Ralph Byron Hunneyman: Born 1 July 1922. Died 15 April 1998 in Clayton Township, Jefferson County, New York. Married (?) Dollinger, daughter of Howard N. and Viola M. (Baltz) Dollinger (b. 10 Jul 1916).

 

(g. Lyle Edgar Hunneyman: Born 3 November 1924. Died Thursday, 12 June 2003, age 78, at Marion County Medical Center, Mullins, South Carolina; interred Cedardale Cemetery, Mullins. Graduated from Clayton High School in 1944. Employed as a firefighter, both in New York and South Carolina. Married Helen Jenkins of Mullins, South Carolina on 31 March 1948 at Orlando, Florida.
