at the home of his daughter, Mary Gordon, near the Pulaski, Brick Church
neighborhood, Giles County, Tennessee.
Moved to Kentucky in 1775. Married Elizabeth (?) and had the following
children:
(1. John Kennedy, Jr.: (more info) Born 16 April 1753 in Rowan County, North
Carolina. Died 26
December 1780 (killed by Indians) at Cumberland Gap, Kentucky. Veteran of the American Revolutionary War;
served as a Captain and was one of Daniel Boone's "30 guns," who cut
the road through the wilderness from Long Island in the Upper Holston, just
south of the present line between Virginia and Tennessee, to Boones Borough,
and assisted in building the fort there.
John's cabin was one of the 1st 3 built outside the fort in 1775. Married, as her 1st husband, Mary Anderson
(b. 1757/59, d. 24 Jan 1823), daughter of John and Ann (Irvine) Anderson, on 15
April 1780 at Fort Boones Borough, Kentucky and had the following daughter:

(3. Thomas M. Kennedy: (more info) Born 11 September 1757 in North Carolina. Died 18 June 1836, age 79, at Paint Lick,
Garrard County, Kentucky. Veteran of the
American Revolutionary War; served a general officer, and was one of the 1st US
Senators from Kentucky. Had a 10,000 acre plantation at Paint Lick,
Lancaster Township, Garrard County, Kentucky, on which stood Uncle Tom's Cabin,
immortalized in the book authored by Harriet Beecher Stowe.
Thomas Kennedy married (1st) Agnes "Nancy"
Ross (b. 1756, d. 21 Aug 1807, age 51; interred Paint Lick, KY), sister of

tall and handsome, with dark hair and eyes. Growing up worked in his father's ice

from Bonham High School in 1915.
Took a correspondence course and became a Certified Public
Accountant. Operated
The Kennedy Jewelry Company in Beaumont, Texas until 1929, when the Great
Depression began. Then traveled for many years for the US Rubber Company. Lastly operated a jewelry
business in Norman, Oklahoma, closing shop about 1940 to move to Shreveport,
Louisiana.

Billie, were described in 1958 by Speaker of the US House of Representatives,
Sam Rayburn, as "two of the prettiest girls that ever lived in
Bonham" (Speaker Rayburn met Billie first; she roomed with his niece in
college.)
Josie Watkins married Bennett Zack Kennedy, who she met at Bonham High School, on 14
November 1916 at her residence in Bonham Township, Fannin
County, Texas with Reverend Tom Walker of the Bonham Church of Christ
officiating (Josie's parents were not pleased that they married so young.)
Following her husband's death in 1948, Josie (Watkins) Kennedy moved
back to Bonham, Texas.
