Canada), son, Robert Marcott (age 18, b. Canada, employed as a carpenter), daughter, Sarah Ann Marcott (age 16, b. Canada), son, Joseph Marcott (age 13, b. Canada) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Wilna Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He owned 10 acres of improved and 30 acres of unimproved land valued at $800.  The household also included his wife, Rossanna Marcott, age 33 (b. Canada) and mother of 4; daughter, Emily A. Marcott, age 10 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); son, George H. Marcott, age 7 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); and daughter, Florence L. Marcott, age 5 (b. Canada) and employed as a laborer, was heading a household in Wilna Township (Carthage Post Office), Jefferson County, New York.  His real estate was valued at $200.  The household also included his wife, Oliva Marcott, age 24 (b. NYS); daughter, Jane Marcott, age 3 (b. NYS); and son, Charles Marcott, age 1 (b. NYS).  Of interest, the household headed by his father, Joseph Marcat, was next door.

Born 24 January 1869 in St. Lawrence County, New York (also seen: b. Carthage, NY and b. Feb 1870).  Died 24 July.  Employed by the New York Central Railroad as a section foreman.  In 1925 resided in Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Subsequently resided at Sterlingville, LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  When the US Government annexed land in 1941 to expand Pine Camp, Charles moved to 54 N. Main Street, West Carthage, Jefferson County.

 

1900 US Census: Charles Marcott, age 30 (b. Feb 1870 in NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Wilna Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife of 9 years, Kate Marcott, age 30 (b. May 1870 in NYS; parents b. NYS), who had had 1 child, still alive; and daughter, Lucy Marcott, age 2 (b. May 1898).

 

1905 NYS Census: Charles Marcott (b. abt 1870) was heading a household in Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Kate Marcott (b. abt 1870), and daughter, Lucy Marcott (b. abt 1892).

 

1910 US Census: Charles H. Marcott, age 40 (b. NYS; father b. French-speaking Canada; mother b. NYS) and employed as foreman of a railroad section, was heading a household on Main Street in the Village of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife of 19 years, Catherine A. Marcott, age 39 (b. NYS), who had had 1 child, still alive; and daughter, Lucy A. Marcott, age 17 (b. NYS) and single, with no occupation recorded.

 

1915 NYS Census: Charles Marcott, age 45 (b. abt 1870), was heading a household in Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.

 

1925 NYS Census: Charles Marcott (b. abt 1870) was heading a household on Sterlingville Road in Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Catherine A. Marcott (b. abt 1872).  The both had completed 4th grade in school.

 

1930 US Census: Charles Marcott, age 61 (b. NYS; father b. Canada; mother b. NYS) and employed as Section Foreman for the railroad, was heading a household in Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  His residence was valued at $3,000 and he was married 1st at age 23.  The household also included his wife, Katherine Marcott, age 59 (b. NYS; parents b. Irish Free State), who was married 1st at age 21.

 

1940 US Census: Charles Marcott, age 71 (b. NYS), was heading a household at Sterlingville, Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He resided in the same house in April 1935, which was valued at $1,500.  The household also included his wife, Catherine Marcott, age 69 (b. NYS).
