1850 US Census: John Nash, age 58 (b. NYS) and employed as a carpenter, was heading a household in Steuben Township, Oneida County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Hannah Nash, age 60 (b. NYS); and son, Chancy Nash, age 28 (b. NYS), apparently single, and employed as a carpenter, whose real estate was valued at $200.  Of interest, the household headed by John Och was enumerated next door to John Nash on one side, as follows:

 

John Och, age 51 (b. NYS) [perhaps brother of George Och, father of Olive Och, who married Jeremiah Nash, gen 4, below] and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Steuben Township, Oneida County, New York.  His real estate was valued at $5,000.  The household also included his wife, Delia Och, age 51 (b. NYS); son, George Och, age 25 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer; son, Sanford Och, age 18 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer; son, Hervey Och, age 12 (b. NYS); daughter, Catharine Och, age 28 (b. Herkimer Co., NY); and son, Chancy Nash, age 33 (b. Herkimer Co., NY).  They all had resided in Steuben Township for 28 years.  Of interest, the households headed by John Suits, age 75 (b. Montgomery Co., NY) and Nicholas Suits, age 48 (b. Montgomery Co., NY) were enumerated nearby.

 

1860 US Census: John Nash, age 68 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Steuben Township, Oneida County, New York.  His real estate was valued at $1,200 and his personal property was valued at $250.  The household also included his wife, Hannah Nash, age 69 (b. NYS); and son, Chancey Nash, age 38 (b. NYS) and employed as a carpenter.

 

1870 US Census: John Nash, age 77 (b. NYS) and retired, resided in the household headed by his son, Chancy Nash, age 49 (b. NYS) and retired, in Western Township (Westernville Post Office), Oneida County, New York.  Of interest, the household headed by Margaret A. Suits, age 40, (b. NYS) and employed as a tailoress, was enumerated next door.  Margaret's real estate was valued at $700 and her personal property was valued at $250.  Margaret's household also included Hannah Suits, age 80 (b. NYS).

NYS).

Chauncy Nash: Born 22 January 1822; baptized 26 May 1822 in the Reformed Protestant Dutch Church, German Flatts Township, Herkimer County, New York.  Died 8 April 1894; interred Carmichael Hill Cemetery, Western Township, Oneida County, New York.  Married Margaret A. NYS) and employed as a carpenter, was heading a household in Western Township, Oneida County, New York.  His real estate was valued at $2,000.   The household also included his wife, Olive Nash, age 34 (b. NYS); daughter, Sophia Nash, age 14 (b. NYS); son, Alfred Nash, age 11 (b. NYS); son, Chester Nash, age 9 (b. NYS); son, Elmer Nash, age 3 (b. NYS); and Harriet Soillis, age 2 (b. NYS).

 

1855 NYS Census: Jeremiah Nash, age 40 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Scott Township, Ogle County, Illinois.  The household also included his wife, Christina Nash, age 37 (b. Norway; parents b. Norway); son, Arthur Nash, age 8 (b. IL); son, Walter Nash, age 3 (b. IL); and servant, Frank Rumblehart, age 25 (b. PA), single, and employed as a farm laborer.

 

1900 US Census: Alfred Nash, age 60 (b. Jul 1839 in NYS; parents b. NYS) and a retired farmer, was heading a household in Rockford Township, Winnebago County, Illinois.  The household also included his wife of 38 years, Christina A. Nash, age 56 (b. Nov 1843 in Norway; parents b. Norway), who had had 3 children, all still alive, and who immigrated to the US in 1850; son-in-law, Horace S. Moore, age 45 (b. Dec 1854 in OH; father b. CT; mother b. VT) and employed as a shipping clerk; daughter, Helen A. Moore, age 37 (b. Dec 1862 in IL; father b. NYS; mother b. Norway), who had been married 14 years and had had 1 child, still alive; and granddaughter, Gertrude Moore, age 12 (b. Jun 1888 in IL).

 

1910 US Census: Alfred Nash, age 70 (b. NYS) and widowed, who had his own income, was heading a household at 131 Hinkley Avenue in Rockford Township, Winnebago County, New York.  The household also included his cousin, Harriett Allen, age 57 (b. IL; parents b. NYS) and widowed, who had had 3 children, 1 of whom was still alive; and cousin, Paul C. B. Allen, age 21 (b. NE; parents b. IL).

 

1920 US Census: Alfred Nash, age 80 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and widowed, with no occupation recorded, was heading a household at 131 N. Hinkley Avenue in Rockford Township, Winnebago County, Illinois.  The household also included his servant, Harriet Allen, age 67 (b. IL; parents b. Ireland) and widowed.

1880 US Census: Chester Nash, age 39 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Scott Township, Ogle County, Illinois.  The household also included his wife, Ledoiska Nash, age 34 (b. NYS; father b. PA; mother b. NYS); son, Raymond Nash, age 8 (b. IL; parents b. England); daughter, Ruby Nash, age 6 (b. IL; parents b. NYS); and John Westernhaver, age 25 (b. IL).

 

1900 US Census: Chester Nash, age 59 (b. May 1841 in NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a machinist and pattern maker, was heading a household in Oregon Township, Ogle County, Illinois.  The household also included his wife of 33 years, Lodoika Nash, age 54 (b. Nov 1845 in NYS; father b. PA; mother b. NYS), who had had 1 child, still alive; and daughter, Ruby Nash, age 26 (b. Mar 1874 in IL; parents b. NYS), single, and employed as a school teacher.

 

Chester Nash married Loduska/Lodoiska V. Hulburd (b. Little Genesee, NY) and raised the following children:

NYS) and employed as a conductor for CNW, was heading a household at 762 Warren Avenue in West Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.  The household also included his wife of 26 years, Clara Nash, age (?) (b. Aug 1854 in IL; parents b. IL), who  had had 1 child, still alive; and daughter, Mabel Nash, age 24 (b. Jul 1875 in IL), single, and employed as a milliner.

NYS) and employed as , was heading a household in Scott Township, Ogle County, Illinois.  The household also included his wife of 14 years, Elezebeth Nash, age 39 (b. Jan 1851 [should be 1861] in IL; parents b. Ireland), who had had 2 children, both still alive; son, Robert Nash, age 12 (b. Feb 1888 in IL); son, Harry Nash, age 9 (b. May 1891 in IL); and O. L. Treadwell, age 53, (b. 1847 in NYS; parents b. NYS), single, and employed as a farm hand.

 

1910 US Census: C. D. Nash, age 53 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as an inventor, was heading a household at 1001 Main Street in Ottawa Township, Franklin County, Kansas.  The household also included his wife of 25 years, E. Nash, age 49 (b. IL; parents b. Ireland), who had had 2 children, both still alive; son, R. E. Nash, age 22 (b. IL) and a musical student; and son, H. D. Nash, age 19 (b. IL) and employed as a plumber for a hardware store.

 

1920 US Census: Charles D. Nash, age 50 [quite legible; should be abt age 63] (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and not employed, was heading a household at 514 Toner Avenue in Rockford Township, Winnebago County, Illinois.  The household also included his wife, Elizabeth Nash, age 46 [quite legible; should be abt age 46] (b. IL; parents b. Ireland) and not employed; and son, Robert E. Nash, age 31 (b. IL), single, and not employed.

 

1930 US Census: Charles Nash, age 73 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as , was heading a household at 514 Jones Avenue in Rockford Township, Winnebago County, Illinois.  His home was valued at $5,000 and he was married 1st at age 28.  The household also included his wife, Elizabeth Nash, age 69 (b. IL; parents b. Ireland), who was married 1st at age 24.  Neither was employed.

 

1940 US Census: Elizabeth Nash, age 79 (b. IL) and widowed, was heading a single-person household at 514 Jones Avenue in Rockford Township, Winnebago County, Illinois.  Her home was valued at $5,000 and she had completed 8th grade.  She resided in the same house in April 1935.

 

Charles Nash married Elizabeth Spaulding (b. 25 Jan 1861 at Lynnville, IL, d. 7 April 1946 at Rockford, IL; interred Big Mound Cem., Davis Junction, Holcomb Twp, Ogle Co., IL), daughter of Patrick and Elizabeth (Leonard) Spaulding (b. Ireland), and resided last at Rockford, Winnebago County.  Charles and Elizabeth had the following children:
