Born 19 December 1838 at Plattsburgh, Clinton County, New York.  Died there 11 November 1911; interred Woodside Cemetery, Belleville, Adams Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Veteran of the American Civil War; Corporal in the 2nd Regiment, New York Volunteer Cavalry; wounded severly.  On 27 May 1898 he filed for a pension based on his military service; and his widow, Laura E. Newcomb, filed 18 September 1916.

NYS) and not employed, in Plattsburgh Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The residence was valued at $1,500.  The household also included Erastus's wife, Sarah A. Mead, age 34 (b. VT); daughter, Julia B. Mead, age 10 (b. NYS); son, James N. Mead, age 8 (b. NYS); daughter, Ellen P. Mead, age 3 (b. NYS); and Mary O'Connors, age 23 (b. Ireland).

VT) and employed as a carpenter and joiner, was heading a household in Malone Township, Franklin County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Phebe Watkins, age 44 (b. 1860 US Census: Kinner S. Newcomb, age 21 (b. NYS) and employed as a millwright, resided with his parents in Plattsburgh Township, Clinton County, New York.

 

1870 US Census: Kinner S. Newcomb, age 31 (b. NYS) and employed as a lumber merchant, resided in a hotel in the Village of Remington, Carpenter Township, Jasper County, Indiana.  His personal property was valued at $2,500.  Of interest, his brother, Platt Newcomb, age 24, was enumerated beside him in the hotel.

 

1870 US Census: Charles Hubbard, age 45 (b. VT) and employed as a merchant, was heading a household in Malone Township, Franklin County, New York.  His real estate was valued at $4,000, and his personal property was valued at $6,000.  The household also included his wife, Eunice Hubbard, age 42 (b. NYS); son, Leroy Hubbard, age 13 (b. NYS); daughter, Loria Hubbard, age 4 (b. NYS); Mary Therm, age 20 (b. Ireland) and employed as a domestic servant; sister-in-law, Edna Watkins, age 20 (b. NYS) and at home; and sister-in-law, Minta Watkins, age 30 (b. NYS).

 

1875 NYS Census: Chas L. Hubbard, age 49 (b. VT) and employed as a dry good merchant, was heading a household in Malone Township, Franklin County, New York.  His residence was valued at $3,000.  The household also included his wife, Eunice Hubbard, age 46 (b. Franklin Co., NY); son, Leroy Hubbard, age 18 (b. Franklin Co., NY); son, Louie D. Hubbard, age 9 (b. Franklin Co., NY); boarder, Mintie Newcomb, age 36 (b. NYS) and employed as a commercial traveler, was heading a household at 30 Forber Avenue in the City of Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts.  The household also included his wife of 10 years, Laura E. Newcomb, age 43 (b. Feb 1857 in NYS; parents b. VT), who had had 3 children, 1 of whom was still alive; and step-daughter, Florence M. Hinman, age 19 (b. Mar 1881 in NYS; parents b.
