IL) and employed as a farmer, heading a household in Alexander County, Illinois.  His real estate was valued at $100.  The household also included Sarah Palmer, age 30 (b. KY); Sabrina Palmer, age 12 (b. IL); and Huston Palmer, age 7 (b. MS).

 

1870 US Census: J. H. Palmer, age 55 (b. IL) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in West Fork Township, Washington County, Arkansas.  His real estate was valued at $700 and his personal property was valued at $200.  The household also included Ale Palmer, age 26 (b. MS) and employed keeping house; Fannie Palmer, age 18 (b. IL) and at home; W. J. Palmer, age 13 (b. IL); J. T. Palmer, age 12 (b. IL); J. W. [James W.] Palmer, age 5 (b. AR); T. J. 1. Biographical notes:

 

Born 30 May 1875 at Pine Bluff, Jefferson County, Arkansas.  Died 3 May 1954 in Hamilton County, Texas; from complications of injuries received in an automobile accident; interred Hico Cemetery, Hico, Hamilton County, Texas.  Employed as a farmer.  Was driving a Studebaker coupe automobile with his 2nd wife and youngest child, Robert Wayne Palmer, when an approaching, intoxicated driver caused a head-on collision, killing his wife immediately and inflicting life threatening injuries to himself.  His son broke both legs and was hospitalized for several months, but fully recovered physically.  Then an invalid, Houston was cared for by his daughter, Vesta, and her family until his death several months later.

TX), who had completed 6th grade; daughter, Leoata, age 18 (b. TX) and single, who had completed 1 year of high school; daughter, Dorthey Palmer, age 16 (b. TX) and single, who had completed 2 years of high school; son, Houston Palmer, age 10 (b. TX); daughter, Helen Palmer, age 8 (b. TX); and son, Robert Wayne Palmer, age 1 (b. TX).

1920 US Census: Fanny Snider, age 20 (b. TX; parents b. MS) and employed as a housekeeper, resided in the household headed by Huston G. Palmer and his children in Petrolia Township, Clay County, Texas (see above).

 

1930 US Census: Abner Sweeney, age 77 (b. MS; parents b. US) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Precinct 3, Tarrant County, Texas.  He was married 1st at age 47.  The household also included his wife, Jessie Sweeney, age 54 (b. IL; parents b. US), who was married 1st at age 24.

 

Frances Sweeney married (1st) Frank Dishman and had the following son:

 

(1. Raymond Lee (Dishman) Snider: (photos) Born 12 December 1914 in Texas.  Died 17 September 1975 at Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. Spent a lot of time in prison.  Perhaps formally adopted by his mother's 2nd husband, (?) Snider.  Married (?); subsequently divorced.

 

Frances (Sweeney) Dishman married (2nd) (?) Snider and had the following children:

1940 US Census: Paul A. Rilger, age 31 (b. TX) and employed as a sausage laborer in a packing house, was heading a household at 48 Apartment Avenue, North.  In April 1935 he resided at Roswell, New Mexico, and he had completed 6th grade.  The household also included his wife, Mary R. Rilger, age 23 (b. TX), who had completed 4 years of high school and in April 1935 resided in Clay County, Texas; son, Wayne C. Rilger, age 8 (b. TX); step-daughter, Elgerito J. Lyon, age 2 (b. TX); and father, Henry J. Rieger, age 58 (b. Germany) and widowed, who was employed as a farmer.

 

Mary Ruth Snider married (1st) I. W. Lyons and had the following daughter:

 

(a. Algerita Joy Lyons: Born 6 April 1938 in Hamilton County, Texas.  Died 11 January 1999; interred Palestine Township, Anderson County, Texas.  Married Marshall Winfred Hodges and had children.
