NYS), widowed, and employed as a seamstress in a wholesale cloth mill, was heading a household at 429 Bridge Street in the City of Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.  She had completed 8th grade.  The household also included her daughter, Mary J. Rockwood, age 20 (b. NYS), single, and employed as a servant for a private family, who had completed 4 years of high school; son, Henry A. Rockwood, age 16 (b. NYS), who had completed 6th grade; son, Harry E. Rockwood, age 12 (b. NYS), who had completed 5th grade; and son, Robert G. Rockwood, age 9 (b. NYS), who had completed 1st grade.

 

At age 32 Clarence Rockwood married Hazel M. Walty (b. abt 1895 in the Village of Evans Mills, LeRay Twp, Jefferson Co., NY, d. 1954; interred Dexter Cem., Dexter, Brownville Twp, Jefferson Co., NY), age 22, daughter of Clarence and Matilda (Hanson) Walty, on 10 November 1917 (license issued 9 Nov 1917) in Mexico Township, Oswego County, New York and had the following children:

Jefferson Co., NY); daughter, Grace Rockwood, age 6 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); son, Charles Rockwood, age 3 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); and brother, Perry Rockwood, age 23 (b. Jefferson Co., NY), single, and employed as a blacksmith.

 

1880 US Census: Perry Rockwood, age 28 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a blacksmith, resided in the household headed by Asa Holbrook, age 32 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a blacksmith, on Point Peninsula, Lyme Township, Jefferson County, New York.

VT) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Brownville Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife of 18 years, Carrie E. Rockwood, age 38 (b. Apr 1862 in NYS; parents b. NYS), who had had 3 children, 2 of whom were still alive; son, Lance A. Rockwood, age 17 (b. Dec 1882 in NYS); and daughter, Florence L. Rockwood, age 11 (b. Jan 1889 in NYS).  Of interest, the household headed by Elam Rockwood, age 69 (b. NYS; parents b. VT) was enumerated next door.

NYS) and employed as a farmer; daughter-in-law (Lance's wife of 5 years), Rose Rockwood, age 26 (b. NYS), who had had 2 children, both still alive; granddaughter, Cathrene Rockwood, age 4 (b. 1905 NYS Census: Gilbert A. Webb, age 26, was boarding in the household headed by Charles R. Adams in on Luther Hill in Brownville Township, Jefferson County, New York.

 

1910 US Census: Alton G. Webb, age 31 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a farm laborer, was heading a household in Ellisburg Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife of 3 years, Florence L. Webb, age 21 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), who had been married once and had had 1 child, still alive; and daughter, Mildred A. Webb, age 2 (b. NYS).

 

1920 US Census: Alton G. Webb, age 41 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a farm laborer, was heading a household in Ellisburg Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Florence R. Webb, age 31 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS); daughter, Mildred A. Webb, age 12 (b. NYS); and daughter, Pauline A. Webb, age 5 (b. NYS).

 

1930 US Census: Gilbert Webb, age 50 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a dairy farm laborer, was heading a household in Ellisburg Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He married 1st at age 27.  The household also included his wife, Florence Webb, age 40 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), who married 1st at age 18; daughter, Mildred Webb, age 22 (b. NYS), single, and employed as a stenographer in a business office; and daughter, Pauline Webb, age 15 (b. NYS) and single. (enumerated 3-5 May 1930)

 

Note: In a 2nd enumeration dated 24 to 26 Apr 1930, Gilbert L. was age 51 and married 1st at age 28, and Florence was age 41 and married 1st at age 18.

 

1940 US Census: G. Alton Webb, age 62 (b. NYS) and employed as a farm laborer, was heading a household in the Village of Woodville, Ellisburg Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He had completed 8th grade.  The household also included his wife, Florence Webb, age 52 (b. NYS) and employed as a practical nurse in a private house, who had completed 3 years of high school.  They resided in the same town on 1 April 1935.

 

Florence Rockwood married Gilbert Alton Webb "Alton" (b. 22 Dec 1878 in NYS, d. 20 Sep 1959; interred Ellisburg Rural Cem. Ellisburg, NY), son of Dewit and Adelia S. (?) Webb, on 20 February 1907 at Dexter, Brownville Township, New York and subsequently resided at Woodville, Ellisburg Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Florence and Gilbert had the following children:

Mildred Adele Webb: Born 4 December 1907 in Brownville Township, Jefferson County, New York.  In 1984 resided at Crescent City, Florida.  Married (1st) Albert Denicola (b. 16 Apr 1906 at Watertown, Jefferson Co., NY), son of James (b. Italy) and Josephine (Chula) Webb (b. Italy) of Watertown, New York, on (license issued 3 May 1930) in Jefferson County, New York; annulled 8 October 1931.  Married (2nd), as his 1st wife, Robert Richard Woeltje (b. 17 Apr 1910 at New Bremen, NY) of Beaver Falls, New York, son of William and Amelia (Huffman) Woeltje (license issued 23 February 1932) in Jefferson County, New York.  Married (3rd) (?) Davis.

1918 WWI Draft Registration: Lance Rockwood, age 35 (b. 15 Dec 1882) and employed as a farmer, resided at RFD1 Dexter, Brownville Township, Jefferson County, New York.  His nearest relative was Rose Rockwood of Dexter, New York.

 

1920 US Census: Lance Rockwood, age 37 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Brownville Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Rose Rockwood, age 36 (b. NYS); daughter, Catharine Rockwood, age 14 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS); son, Harry Rockwood, age 11 (b. NYS); son, Allen Rockwood, age 1 year and 10 months (b. NYS); daughter, Alice Rockwood, age 1 year and 10 months (b. NYS); and boarder, Robert Covey, age 56 (b. English-speaking Canada) and not employed, who immigrated to the US in 1878.

1910 US Census: No record found for Waldron.

 

1915 NYS Census: Isaac Eldridge, age 26, was heading a household in Hammond Township, St. Lawrence County, New  York.  The household also included his wife, Eugene Eldridge, age 33; and son, Waldron Eldridge, age 11. (pg 25)

 

1920 US Census: Waldron Eldridge, age 16 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), single, and not employed, resided in the household headed by his uncle, Orrie Eldridge, age 31 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a retail grocer, at 92 LaFayette Street in the City of Ogdensburg, Oswegatchie Township, St. Lawrence County, New York.  The household also included Orrie's wife, Mary E. Eldridge, age 31 (b. English-speaking Canada; parents b. English-speaking Canada), who immigrated to the US in 1909 and was subsequently naturalized; daughter, Helen I. Eldridge, age 8 (b. 1911 in NYS); and son, Arthur F. Eldridge, age 6 (b. 1913 in NYS).

 

1930 US Census:  Waldron Eldridge, age 26 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a registered nurse (RN) in private practice, resided as a boarder in the household headed by Teresa Gannon, age 62 (b. MA), in the Newtown Arms Apartments, Queens, New York City, New York.  Waldron married 1st at age 23.  The household also included Waldron's wife, Catherine Eldridge, age 24 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), who married 1st at age 21.

 

1940 US Census: Waldron E. Eldridge, age 36 (b. NYS) and employed as a male nurse for the Health Department, was heading a household at Balboa in the Panama Canal Zone.  He had completed 10th grade.  The household also included his wife, Catherine L. Eldridge, age 34 (b. NYS), who had completed 12th grade.

 

Catherine Rockwood married Waldron Eric Eldridge (b. abt 1904 in the Hamlet of Brier Hill, Morristown Twp, St. Lawrence Co., NY) of Dexter, son of Isaac O. (b. 10 Dec 1878 at Renesealar Falls) and Eugenia B. (Ashe) Eldridge, on 12 June 1927 (license issued 11 Jun 1927) at Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York, who was employed as a registered nurse.  Of interest, Waldron's father, Isaac O. Eldridge, son of Samuel and Alice (Patchen) Eldridge, married (2nd) Margaret McCormick on 30 November 1918.
