1833, age 84, in Newton Township, Sussex County, New Jersey; interred there in
the Old Newton Burial Ground.
2. Wife: Sarah
Henderson
Born about 1751. Died 12
January 1821, age 70, in Sussex County, New Jersey; interred Old Newton Burial
Ground, Newton, Sussex County, New Jersey.
3. Children:
a. Michael Roof: Born 1 July 1780. Died 19 July 1834, age 54 years and 18 days,
in Newton Township, Sussex County, New Jersey; interred there in the Old Newton
Burial Ground. Married Ann Waldroff (b. abt 1783, d. 29 Feb 1860, age 77, in Newton
Twp, Sussex Co., NJ; interred with Michael) and had the following son:
(1. Christopher M. Roof: Born 12 November 1810 in
Newton Township, Sussex County, New Jersey.
Died 9 July 1879 in Sussex County, New Jersey; interred there in Newton
Cemetery. Married Mary Northrup and had children.

County, Pennsylvania; daughter of John Struble. Married Jacob Roof on 10 November 1806 in Sussex County, New
Jersey.

a. Charles Roof: (photos) Born 12 February 1809 in Sussex County, New
Jersey. Died 27 January 1880 at Standing
Stone, Bradford County, Pennsylvania; interred there in Standing Stone
Cemetery. Married Maria Lantz (b. 9 Dec 1808
in Sussex Co., NJ, d. 16 Apr 1876 in Bradford Co., PA;
interred with Charles), daughter of Peter and Judith (Van Ness) Lantz, and had
children.
b. Sarah A. Roof: Born 8 May 1811. Died 10 October 1899 in Monroe Township,
Sussex County, New Jersey; interred Newton Cemetery, Newton Township, Sussex
County, New Jersey. Married Jacob Smith
(b. 8 Jul 1810, d. 14 Feb 1882, age 71; interred with Sarah) and had children.
c. Catherine J. Roof: Born 12 April 1813 in Sussex
County, New Jersey. Died there 26 July
1897; interred there in Newton Cemetery.
d. Clarissa Roof: Born 14 September 1815. Died 21 July 1911, age 95, in Sussex County,
New Jersey; interred there in Newton Cemetery.

f. Alfred Roof: Born 14 November 1819. Died 8 March 1903 in Andover Township, Sussex
County, New Jersey; interred Newton Cemetery, Newton, Sussex County, New Jersey. Married Hannah E. Predmore

g. Robert Roof: Born 11 May 1822 in New Jersey. Died 21 August 1897 in Charleston Township,
Kalamazoo County, Michigan; interred Roof Cemetery, Climax, Kalamazoo County,
Michigan. Married Martha Hallock (b. 5 Dec 1833 in NYS, d. 22 Aug 1897; interred
with Robert) and had children.
h. Stephen H. Roof: Born 24 March 1823 in Sussex
County, New Jersey. Died 14 April 1879
in Newton Township, Sussex County, New Jersey; interred there in Newton
Cemetery.
i. Mary Matilda Roof: Born 1824 in Sussex County, New
Jersey. Died 1906; interred North Orwell
Cemetery, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
Married William E. Stoll (b. 1822 in NJ, d. 1876 in North Orwell Twp,
Bradford Co., PA; interred with Mary) and had children.

County, Pennsylvania.

Cemetery, Athens, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Married Benjamin LaFayette
Lewis (b. 1846 at Sayre, Bradford Co., PA, d. 1915; interred with Judah), son
of Timothy Harry and Lucy (?) Lewis..
e. Estella "Stella"/"Dell" Roof:
Born February 1852 in Franklin Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Died 1932; interred Hollywood Cemetery, Union
Township, Union County, New Jersey. Married George Grace (b. 25 Jun 1849 in
Bradford Co., PA, d. 1933; interred with Estella), son of William Salisbury and
Elizabeth Jane (Decker) Grace.
