PA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Rachel Strickland, age 74 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); as well as 2 servants (Norman Kester (farm laborer) & Allis Varley (domestic servant) and boarder, Belle Froman, who was employed as a cheese maker.
