Born about 1806 in New York.  Died 19 September 1872, age 66, in Blackman Township, Jackson County, Michigan; interred Jones Cemetery, Jackson Township, Jackson County, Michigan.  Employed as a farmer.  Moved from New York to Michigan between 1844 and 1846.

 

1850 US Census: Christopher Van Horn, age 44 (b. NYS); and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Jackson Township, Jackson County, Michigan.  His real estate was valued at $1,200.  The household also included his wife, Maria Van Horn, age 41 (b. NYS); daughter, Sardinia Van Horn, age 17 (b. NYS); son, Isaac Van Horn, age 15 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer; daughter, Mary Van Horn, age 14 (b. NYS); son, William Van Horn, age 12 (b. NYS); son, Cornelius Van Horn, age 8 (b. NYS); son, Christopher Van Horn, age 6 (b. NYS); daughter, Gertrude Van Horn, age 5 (b. MI); son, Adelbert Van Horn, age 3 (b. MI); and son, Lewis Van Horn, age 9 months (b. MI).

NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Blackman Township, Jackson County, Michigan.  His real estate was valued at $4,000 and his personal property was valued at $1,000.  The household also included his wife, Mariah Van Horn, age 51 (b. NYS); son, Isaac Van Horn, age 26 (b. NYS) and employed as school teacher; son, Henry Van Horne, age 22 (b. NYS) and employed as a clerk in a hardware store; Mary A. Van Horn, age 24 (b. NYS); son, Cornelius Van Horn, age 18 (b. NYS); son, Christopher Van Horn, Jr., age 16 (b. NYS); daughter, Gertrude Van Horn, age 14 (b. MI); and son, Lewis Van Horn, age 11 (b. MI).

 

1870 US Census: Christopher Van Horn, age 64 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Blackman Township, Jackson County, Michigan.  The household also included his wife, Maria Van Horn, age 61 (b. NYS); daughter, Mary Van Horn, age 33 (b. NYS; daughter, Gertrude Van Horn, age 24 (b. MI); son, Cornelius Van Horn, age 28 (b. MI) and employed as a farm laborer; and son, Lewis Van Horn, age 21 (b. MI) and employed as a farm laborer.

1870 US Census: Christopher Van Horn, age 27 (b. NYS) and employed as a farm blacksmith, was heading a household in Blackman Township, Jackson County, Michigan.  The household also included his wife, Sarah Van Horn, age 26 (b. MI); and son, Aervell (sp) Van Horn, age 1 (b. MI).

 

Christopher Van Horne, Jr. married Sarah (?) (b. MI) and had the following son:

 

(1. Newell Van Horne: Born about 1869 in Michigan.

 

g. Gertrude Van Horne: Born about 1846 in Michigan.

 

h. Adelbert Van Horne: Born about 1847 in Michigan.

 

i. Lewis D. Van Horne: Born about 1849 in Michigan.  Died 23 March 1926, age 76, in Jackson Township, Jackson County, Michigan.  Married (?), who died before him.

 

4   Sadenia/Sardinia Etta Van Horne:

 

Born 28 September 1832 in Cuyahoga County, New York.  Died in Michigan.  Married John Fellows, generation 2 of the Fellows Annex on 4 July 1854 in Michigan.
