Born 11 October 1878 in Georgia.  Died 20 April 1938, age 59 years, 5 months, and 21 days, from complications of heart disease, at Commerce (Militia District 255 (Minish), Jackson County, Georgia (death reported by Odell Williams of Gainesville, GA); interred there in Grey Hill Cemetery on 22 April 1938.

 

1910 US Census: Henry E. Williams, age 32 (b. GA; parents b. GA) and employed as a salesman for a grocery store, was heading a household in the City of Commerce, Minish Precinct, Jackson County, Georgia.  He had been married once.  The household also included his wife of 10 years, Emma Williams, age 31 (b. GA; parents b. GA) and employed drawing in a cotton mill, who had been married once and had had 4 children, all still alive; daughter, Gertrude Williams, age 9 (b. GA); son, Lonnie Williams, age 8 (b. GA); son, Odel Williams, age 5 (b. GA); son, J. D. Williams, age 3 (b. GA); and sister-in-law, Ida Wilbanks, age 34 (b. GA), single, and not employed.  Of interest, the household headed by James D. Williams, age 66, was enumerated directly after him on the same census page.

GA) and employed as second hand in a cotton mill, was heading a household at 29 Spring Street in the City of Commerce, Minish District, Jackson County, Georgia.  The household also included his wife, Emma Williams, age 42 (b. GA; parents b. GA) and employed drawing in a cotton mill; daughter, Gertrude Williams, age 19 (b. GA) and employed as a stenographer for a grocery store; son, Alonzo Williams, age 18 (b. GA) and employed as a salesman for a grocery store; son, Odell Williams, age 16 (b. GA), single, and not employed; son, J. D. Williams, age 13 (b. GA); and sister-in-law, Ida Wilbanks, age 43 (b. GA), single, and not employed.

GA) and employed as a dresser in a cotton mill, was heading a household in the City of Commerce, Jackson County, Georgia.  He married 1st at age 21, and his residence was valued at $1,000.  The household also included his wife, Emma Williams, age 51 (b. GA; parents b. GA) and employed as a dresser in a cotton mill, who married 1st at age 21; son, J. D. Williams, age 23 (b. GA), widowed, and not employed, was heading a household in the City of Commerce, Militia District 255 (Minish), Jackson County, Georgia.  She had completed 4th grade, and her residence was valued at $1,800.  The household also included her son, Lonnie Williams, age 37 (b. GA), single, and employed as a tax collector, who had completed 1 year of high school; sister, Nancy Geddis, age 66 (b. GA) and widowed, who had completed 3rd grade; and sister, Ida Wilbanks, age 64 (b. GA) and employed as a local salesman for a furniture company, was heading a household in the City of Commerce, Minishs District, Jackson County, Georgia.  He married 1st at age 23, and his residence was valued at $1,500.  The household also included his wife, Martha Williams, age 25 (b. GA; parents b. GA), who married 1st at age 23; and son, Lucy Williams, age 1 (b. GA).  Of interest, the household headed by his father, Henry E. Williams, age 51, was enumerated directly after him on the same census page.

 

1940 US Census: Odel Williams, age 35 (b. GA) and employed as a clerk for a retail furniture store, was heading a household at 28 Spring Street in the City of Commerce, Militia District 255, Jackson County, Georgia.  He had completed 1 year of high school, and his residence was valued at $1,500.  The household also included his wife, Martha Williams, age 35 (b. GA) and employed as a spinner in a cotton mill, who had completed 7th grade; son, Lacy Williams, age 11 (b. GA); son, Amory Williams, age 9 (b. GA); and Florine Drake, age 24 (b.
