Died 1 January 1815 in LeRoy Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  Moved from Connecticut to LeRoy Township about 1798/99 with a Connecticut title for land in Pennsylvania.  Located on the A. E. Kelly farm.  Was a man of considerable prominence in the early days of LeRoy.

Born 15 November 1794 in Connecticut (by one account was the twin brother of Enos).  Died 18 April 1887.

 

1820 US Census: Philo Worster was heading a household in Franklin Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  The household included  3 males under age 10; age l male age 26 to 45; 1 female under age 10; and 1 female age 16 to 26.

 

1830 US Census: Philo Wooster was heading a household in Franklin Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  The household included 1 male under age 5; 1 male age 10 to 15; 1 male age 15 to 20; 1 male age 30 to 40; 1 female under age 5; 1 female age 10 to 15; and 1 female age 20 to 30.

1850 US Census: Lafayett Wooster, age 21 (b. PA) and employed as a farmer, resided in the household headed by Maria Crofut, age 38 (b. NYS) in LeRoy Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  Maria's real estate was valued at $2,400.  The household also included Calferna Crofut, age 15 (b. PA); Charles M. Crofut, age 12 (b. PA); and Alonzo D. Crofut, age 9 (b. PA).

 

1860 US Census: Lay Fayett Wooster, age 32 (b. PA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in LeRoy Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  His real estate was valued at $6,000, and his personal property was valued at $1,200.  The household also included Farman Lucas, age 25 (b. 1870 US Census: M. L. Wooster, age 42 (b. PA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Leroy Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  His real estate was valued at $5,000 and his personal property was valued at $2,000.  The household also included Maria Crofut, age 60 (b. NYS) and employed keeping house, whose real estate was valued at $2,500 and personal property was valued at $800; domestic servant, Milford Bailey, age 13 (b. PA); Gibson Crofut, age 9 (b. PA); and  housekeeper, Eva Shoemaker, age 17 (b. PA).

 

1870 US Census: Calfernia Hous, age 25 (b. PA) and employed as a house keeper, resided in the household headed by Orin W. Fuller, age 40 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, in Granville Township (Granville Center Post Office), Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  The household also included Orin's wife, Emily Fuller, age 37 (b. NYS); and Orin's daughter, Annie Fuller, age 8 (b. PA).

 

1870 US Census: Jason House, age 67 (b. CT), a retired farmer, and his wife, Hannah House, age 66 (b. CT) resided in the household headed by Lemuel Rockwell, age 44 (b. PA) and employed as a farm hand, in LeRoy Township (West Franklin Post Office), Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  No record of real or personal property for Jason and Hannah.  The household also included Lemuel's wife, H. CT) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Leroy Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  The household also included his wife, Caroline [very legible] Wooster, age 36 (b. PA; parents b. CT); son, Gorden F. Wooster, age 1 (b. PA); unnamed infant son, age 14 days (b. May 1880 in PA); C. G. Crofut, age 19 (b. PA) and employed as a farm laborer; and Nettie Wilcox, age 16 (b. PA) and employed as a domestic servant.

 

1900 US Census: M. Lafayett Wooster, age 71 (b. Jun 1828 in PA; parents b. CT), with no occupation recorded, was heading a household in Leroy Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  The household also included his wife of 23 years, Calphonia Wooster, age 55 (b. Nov 1844 in PA; parents b. NYS), with no occupation recorded, who had had 4 children, all still alive; and son, Llewellyn Wooster, age 14 (b. Jan 1886 in PA; parents b. PA), with no occupation recorded.

NYS) and employed in a lumber yard , was heading a household in the Village of Carbon Run, Barclay Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  The household also included his wife of 1 year, Catherine Wooster, age 19 (b. Oct 1880 in PA; parents b. PA), who had had 1 child, still alive; and son, Fredrick Wooster, age 3 months (b. Mar 1900 in PA; parents b. PA).

PA) and employed as a postal clerk, was heading a household in the City of Williamsport, Williamsport Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.  He had completed 2 years of high school, and his residence was valued at $5,700.  The household also included his wife, Ellen Castleberry, age 38 (b. PA), who had completed 1 year of high school; and father-in-law, Gordon Wooster, age 62 (b. PA), widowed, and employed as a carpenter with his own business, who apparently had no formal schooling.  They all resided in the same house on 1 April 1935.

 

1942 WWII Draft Registration: Gordon Fulton Wooster, age 63 (b. 12 Sep 1878 in Leroy Twp, Bradford Co., PA) and self employed, resided with his son-in-law, C. F. Casselberry, at 330 Eldred Street in the City of Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.

 

Gordon Wooster married Katherine/Catherine Savacool (b. Oct 1880 in PA) and had the following children:

Wooster: Born 4 March 1900 in Pennsylvania.  Died 12 October 1973, age 73, in Waterbury Hospital, Waterbury, New Haven County, Connecticut; interred Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.  Employed as a laboratory technician for the footwear division of Uniroyal Company, Naugatuck Township, New Haven County, Connecticut, and resided last at Naugatuck.  Married Florence Grove (b. abt 1904 in PA); apparently no children.

 

1930 US Census: Fred E. Wooster, age 30 (b. PA; parents b. PA) and employed as a laborer in a rubber factory, was heading a household at 1423 Memorial Drive in the City of Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.  He married 1st at age 24.  The household also included his wife, Florence Wooster, age 26 (b. PA; parents b. PA), who married 1st at age 20.

 

1940 US Census: Fred Wooster, age 40 (b. PA) and employed as a cutter in a rubber plant, was heading a household at 121 Hill Street in the City of Naugatuck, Naugatuck Township, New Haven County, Connecticut.  He had completed 8th grade.  The household also included his wife, Florence Wooster, age 35 (b. PA) and employed as a fitter in a rubber plant, who had completed 8th grade.  They resided in the same township on 1 April 1935.

PA; parents b. PA), who had had 3 children, 2 of whom were still alive; son, Elwin Wooster, age 2 (b. PA); and son, Ernest Wooster, age 4 months (b. PA).

1942 WWII Draft Registration: Lawrence Jestus Wooster, age 59 (b. 19 May 1882 in Bradford Co., PA) resided at 61 Minnequa Avenue in Canton Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  He named his wife, Ruth A. Wooster of that residence as someone who will always know his address.  He was employed by Martin L. Rockwell on Troy Street in Canton.

 

Lawrence Wooster married Ruth Ann Tillotson (b. 1883, d. 1958), daughter of Christopher Columbus (b. 1843, d. 1926) and Laurissa (Holcomb) Tillotson (b. 1844, d. 1884), and had the following children:

PA) and employed as a laborer in a sawmill, was heading a household in Barclay Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  He had been married once.  The household also included his wife of 5 years, Jessie Wooster, age 23 (b. PA; parents b. PA), who had been married once and had had 1 child, still alive; and son, Stanley Wooster, age 4 (b. PA; parents b. PA).

 

1918 WWI Draft Registration: Lewis Llewellyn Wooster, age 32 (b. 10 Jan 1886) and employed as a freight clerk for the Pennsylvania Railway Company, resided with his wife, Jessie Wooster, in Canton Borough, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.

 

1920 US Census: Lewis Wooster, age 34 (b. PA; parents b. PA) and employed as a freight handler for the railroad, was heading a household at 140 Minequa Avenue in Canton Borough, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  The household also included his wife, Jessie Wooster, age 34 (b. PA; parents b. PA); and son, Stanley Wooster, age 14 (b. PA; parents b. PA).

PA) and employed as a ticket agent at the [railroad?] Depot, was heading a household at 203 8th Street in the Village of Watkins Glen Township, Dix Township, Schuyler County, New York.  He married 1st at age 17.  The household also included his wife, Jessie Wooster, age 44 (b. PA; parents b. PA), who married 1st at age 17; and son, Harley Wooster, age 7 (b. NY; parents b. PA).

 

1940 US Census: Lewis L. Wooster, age 54 (b. PA) and employed as a watchman for the International Salt Company, was heading a household in the Village of Burdett, Hector Township, Schuyler County, New York.  He had completed 8th grade.  The household also included his wife, Jessie Wooster, age 54 (b. PA), who had completed 8th grade; and son, Harley Wooster, age 17 (b. NYS) and employed as a clerk in a retail store, who had completed 2 years of high school.  They resided in the same township on 1 April 1935.

1930 US Census: Archie G. Wiggins, age 58 (b. PA; parents b. PA) and employed as a telephone operator on a switch board, was heading a household in Franklin Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  He was married 1st at age 52 and his home was valued at $500.  The household also included his wife, Ettie M. Wiggins, age 63 (b. PA; parents b. PA), who was married 1st at age 19; and step-granddaughter, Harriett C. Wooster, age 10 (b. PA; parents b. PA).

 

1940 US Census: Etta M. Wiggins, age 73 (b. PA), widowed, and employed as a switch board operator in a telephone office, was heading a household in Franklin Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  Her residence was valued at $900, and she had completed 8th grade.  The household also included her grandson, Paul E. Wooster, age 28 (b. PA), single, and employed as a laborer on the state highway, who had completed 8th grade; and granddaughter, Harriet C. Wooster, age 20 (b. PA) and single, with no employment recorded, who had completed 8th grade.  Etta and Harriet resided in the same house on 1 April 1935.  Paul resided elsewhere in Bradford County on 1 April 1935.

PA) and employed as a loom cleaner in a silk mill, was heading a household at 16 Mechanic Street in Towanda, Towanda Borough, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  He had completed 7th grade.  The household also included his wife, Nellie Wooster, age 29 (b. PA), who had completed 8th grade;  and daughter, Leatha Wooster, age 3 (b. PA).
