VA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Jeffersonville Township, Tazewell County, Virginia.  He could not read or write.  No record of owning real or personal property.  The household also included his wife, Nancy Blankenship, age 25 (b. VA), who could not read or write; daughter, Hannah Blankenship, age 6 (b. VA); daughter, Saml Blankenship, age 4 (b. VA); daughter, Saly Blankenship, age 2 (b. VA); Betsy Seers, age 18 (b. VA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Spanishburg Township, Mercer County, West Virginia.  He had been married once.  The household also included his wife of 4 years (so m. abt 1906), Pady Blankenship, age 22 (b. KY; parents b. VA), who had had 1 child, still alive; and daughter, Maudie Blankenship, age 20 months (b. Born about 1919 in Virginia.  Died about 1970 in Richlands County, Virginia.  Died Tazewell County, Virginia; interred Bandy Family Cemetery, Baptist Valley, Tazewell County, Virginia.

 

1940 US Census: Adolphis Blankenship, age 21 (b. VA), single, and employed as a coal miner, resided in the household headed by his father in Maiden Springs Township, Tazewell County, Virginia.  He had completed 1 year of high school.

Born about 1919 in Tazewell County, Virginia; daughter of James Edward "Ed" and Blanche Vivian (Lockhart) Bandy.  At age 21 married Adolphus L. Blankenship, age 22, on 28 September 1940 in Tazewell County, Virginia.
