Milford, New Haven Co., CT).  Died 25 November 1825 (also seen: d. 17 January 1822), age 78/75 at Camptown, Wyalusing Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania; interred Merryall.  Was a pioneer hunter and settler.  Came to and settled (as the 1st resident) what is now Camptown in 1792/93 and planted a crop of corn.  The next year he brought his family.  The only way they could reach Camptown was to follow the one road from Connecticut to Pittson (below Scranton via Wind Gap to Delaware) and then push up the river.  The ox-driven cart, younger members of family, and small belongings were placed on a keel boat, and two men were hired to push it up the river.  To pay them back took all of Job’s crop of corn.  In order to get the oxen up the narrow path through Wyalusing Township they were unyoked and led single file along the narrow Indian trail – passing dangerous places on tall cliffs.  This rugged path was the only road to Wilkes-Barre, fifty miles away, where the inhabitants went for supplies – or by boat.
