1. Biographical notes:

 

Born byt 1821 in Ohio (also seen: b. Marcus Hook, Delaware Co., PA).  Died ; presumed dead about 1858/59; family tradition: John was ice skating across the Delaware River in winter to visit his parents in New Jersey, but did not arrive and was never seen again, so was presumed drowned.  His 2nd wife, Hannah Valentine waited 7 years before having him officially declared dead.  From 1846 to 1849 resided in New Jersey, directly across from Marcus Hook.

 

2. Wife #1: Anne Boyd (perhaps)

 

a. Biographical notes:

 

Born 1821; perhaps daughter of David and Judith (?) Boyd of Upper Chichester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Died 1 December 1849 (gravestone says just 1850), age 28, at Upper Chichester; interred there in Section H of Lawncroft Cemetery.

 

b. Children: (by 1860 all had moved to Delaware to reside with Anne's parents.)

 

(1. John Cook: Born about 1844.

 

(2. Samuel Cook: Born 14 February 1846.  Died 30 October 1916.  Married Mary (?) (b. 14 Apr 1849, d. 28 Sep 1887).  Married (?) Pierce.

 

(3. Anna M. Cook: Born 1847.  Died 1887; interred Section H of Lawncroft Cemetery, Marcus Hook, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Married (?) Pierce.

 

3. Wife #2: Hannah Hayes Valentine

 

a. Biographical notes:

 

Born 10 July 1832 at the home of her daughter, Lillie Mae (Wilson) Larkin, in Linwood, Delaware County, Pennsylvania; daughter of Thomas Jefferson (photos) and Mary Anne (Morton) Valentine (photos).  Died 2 May 1911, age 78 years, 9 months, and 22 days, from complications of endocarditis (infection of the heart's inner lining, usually involving the heart valves) and old age, at Marcus Hook, Delaware County, Pennsylvania; interred Chester Rural Cemetery, Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Named for her aunt, Hannah (Johnson) Morton.  Described as 5' 6" tall, with medium build, fair complexion, and blue eyes.  Married (1st), as his 2nd wife, John Cook on 1 January 1851 at Marcus Hook, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, with Reverend Bean, Rector of Saint Martin's Episcopal Church of Marcus Hook officiating.  Married (2nd) William B. Wilson (b. 11 Feb 1816 in England, d. intestate 10 Feb 1874, age 62; interred Wilmington Swede's Cem.), a hotel keeper of Lower Chichester Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, about 1862 and had the following children:

 

(1. George Bell Wilson: Born 1862 in Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Died 1940; interred Lawncroft Cemetery, Marcus Hook, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Married Charoletta "Lottie" Morton (b. 1863, d. 1952; interred with George), daughter of Mary (?) Morton, and sister of Lizzie Morton, who married Silas Green, and had the following daughter:

 

(a. Mariam Wilson: Born 1894.  Died 1939; interred Lawncroft Cemetery, Marcus Hook Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Married (1st) Edward/George Butterworth and had the following children:

 

(1) Edward "Eddie" Butterworth, Jr.: Married (?) Stevenson.

 

(2) Charlotte Butterworth: Married and had 2 children.

 

Marian (Wilson) Butterworth married (2nd) (?) Walbert.

 

(b. George Wilson: Died ummarried.

 

(2. Lillian "Lillie" May/Mae Wilson: Born 15 August 1865 at Marcus Hook, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Died 5 February 1934 at Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania; interred there in Chester Rural Cemetery.  Married Horace Finch Larkin (b. Jan 1859 at Chester, PA, d. 30 Sep 1905; interred Chester Rural Cem., Chester, Delaware Co., PA), son of John Morton and Emily Frances (Dutton) Larkin, and had the following children:

 

(a. Helen Louise Larkin: Born 3 May 1892 at Marcus Hook, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Married William Flaville Baker (b. 14 Feb 1888, d. 5 Jan 1936; interred Chester Rural Cem., Delaware Co., PA), son of J. Engle and Sue (Flaville) Baker, on 14 October 1915 at Chester, Pennsylvania, with (Baptist) Reverend Frank MacDonald officiating and had the following daughter:

 

(1) Louise Baker: Born 13 July 1916 at Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  In 1939 earned a BA degree majoring in music from Westchester State Teachers College and taught music in Chester public schools.

 

(b. Mary Gilbert Larkin: Born 15 February 1897 at Marcus Hook, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Died 5 February 1962 at Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania; interred there in Chester Rural Cemetery.  Married Clarence R. Fryer (b. Philadelphia, PA) in June 1921 in the First Baptist Church, Chester, Pennsylvania, with Reverend Ringrose officiating and had the following daughter:

 

(1) Jeanne Marie Fryer: Born 20 March 1926 in Crozer Hospital, Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Died 23 February 1946, age 19, in an automobile accident; interred Chester Rural Cemetery, Chester, Pennsylvania.

Harry/Henry Stanley Cook: (photos) Born 1854 in Linwood, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Died 3 February 1930 at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois; interred Lawncroft Cemetery, Marcus Hook, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Described as 5' 10" tall, with brown hair and eyes.  Married (1st) Sarah "Sallie" R. Boyd (photos) (b. Sep 1857 in Delaware Co., PA, d. there 2 Jan 1902; interred 1st in Saint Martin's Cem., Marcus Hook, Delaware Co., PA; later moved to Lawncroft Cem., Chester, PA), daughter of Thomas Marshall and Susan (Powell) Boyd, on 6 April 1882, with Reverend C. W. W. Bishop officiating, and had the following children:

 

(a. Mary Bishop Cook: Born 4 May 1883 at Linwood, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Died .  Described as 5' 6" tall, with dark hair and eyes.  While a resident of Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, married George Lee Baker (b. 14 Jul 1880 at Mt. Pleasant, Delaware Co., PA), also a resident of Chester, on 27 November 1903, with C. W. W. Bishop officiating, and had the following children:

 

(1) Frances Baker. (female)

 

(2) Gertrude Bakere: Never married.

 

(b. Charles Francis Cook "Frank"/"Francis": (photos) Born 9 March 1886 at Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Died there 24 May 1949; interred Lawncroft Cemetery, Chester, Pennsylvania.  Described as 5' 10" tall, with brown hair.  Employed as a railroad engineer.

 

Charles F. Cook married (1st) Mary Price Mason (b. 25 Apr 1887/86 at Chester, Delaware Co., PA, d. there 19 Sep 1925; interred with Charles), daughter of Truxton and Mary (Price) Mason of Delaware, on 17 September 1910 in Delaware County, Delaware; no children.

 

Charles F. Cook married (2nd) Hannah Farraday Cullis (b. 31 Jul 1892 at Chester, Delaware Co., PA, d. there Apr 1979), daughter of John Farrady and Mattie Woodward (Kemp) Cullis, on 10 June 1926 in the Madison Street Methodist Church, Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, with Dr. Holmes officiating; no children.  Hannah was described as 5' 4" tall, with blond hair.

 

(c. O. Elizabeth Cook: (photos) Born about 1886.  Died 1947 at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.  Described as having blue eyes and blond hair.  Married, as his 1st wife, Eugene Hoerr (photos) and had the following children:

 

(1) Edith Hoerr: (photos) Married John H. Gibson and resided in Geneva, Illinois.  John and Edith had the following son:

 

(a) Barton Gibson.

 

(2) Elizabeth "Betsy" Cecelia Hoerr:  Married (?) and resided in San Francisco, California.

 

Eugene Hoerr married (2nd) in El Cerrito, Contra Costa County, California.

 

Harry Stanley Cook married (2nd), as her 2nd husband, widow Sallie "Hettie" (?) Devonshire (photos) of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, who had married (1st) (?) Devonshire and had several sons.  Harry and Hattie had the following daughter:

Born 26 October 1852/53 at Linwood, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Died 21 January 1923, age about 68, from complications of Urenric parsing, at the home of her daughter, Anna (Boomall) Biles, 427 Wensley Avenue, El Centro, Imperial County, California (had just arrived after visiting relatives in PA).  Married (1st) John Martin Broomall, II, generation 2 of the Broomall Annex on 23 January 1877 in Pennsylvania.  Married (2nd) Edward G. Keen in Ridley Park Borough, Delaware County, Pennsylvania; no children.
