Born 5 April 1873 in Ireland. Died 2 February 1956 at Buffalo, Erie County, New York. Member of the Buffalo, New
York police force.
1900 US Census: Thomas J. Cuffe, age 27 (b. Apr 1873
in Ireland; parents b. Ireland) and employed as a patrolman, was heading a household
in the City of Buffalo, Erie County, New York.
He immigrated to the US in 1887 (subsequently naturalized). The household also included his wife of 5
years, Julia Cuffe, age 22 (b. Oct 1877 in NYS; parents b. Ireland), who had
had 2 children, 1 of whom was still alive; and son, William Cuffe, age 4 (b.
Apr 1896 in NYS).
1910 US Census: Thomas J. Cuffe, age 37 (b. NYS) and
employed as a policeman for the Buffalo Police Force, was heading a household in
the City of Buffalo, Erie County, New York.
He immigrated to the US in 1899 (subsequently naturalized) and had been married
once. The household also included his
wife of 15 years, Julia C. Cuffe, age 33 (b. NYS; parents b. Ireland), who had
been married once and had had 6 children, 4 of whom were still alive; son,
William Cuffe, age 14 [lined out] and single; Thomas Cuffe, Jr., age 8 (b.
NYS); daughter, Katherine Cuffe, age 6 (b. NYS); and daughter, Francis Cuffe,
age 4 (b. NYS).
1918 WWI Draft Registration: Thomas Joseph Cuffe,
age 45 (b. 5 Apr 1873 in Ireland) and employed as a patrolman, resided with his
wife, Julia C. Cuffe, at 723 McKinley Parkway, Buffalo, Erie County, New York.
1920 US Census: Thos J. Cuffe, age 46 (b. Ireland;
parents b. Ireland) and employed as a patrolman for the City, was heading a
household at 723 McKinley Parkway in the City of Buffalo, Erie County, New York. He immigrated to the US in 1888 (naturalized
in 1895). The household also included
his wife, Julia C. Cuffe, age 40 (b. NYS; parents b. Ireland); son, Thomas
Cuffe, age 19 (b. NYS), single, and employed as a salesman for a magazine;
daughter, Katheline, age 16 (b. NYS) and single; son,
Francis J. Cuffe, age 13 (b. NYS); daughter, Julia Cuffe, age 9 (b. NYS); son,
James Cuffe, age 7 (b. NYS); and daughter, Eleanor Cuffe, age 3 years and 6
months (b. NYS).

Free State; parents b. Irish Free State) and employed as a City Policeman, was

County, New York. He immigrated to the
US in 1889 (subsequently naturalized) and married 1st at age 21. The household also included his wife, Julia
C. Cuffe, age 49 (b. NYS; parents b. Irish Free State), who married 1st at age
16; daughter, Kathleen P. Cuffe, age 25 (b. NYS), single, and employed as a
secretary in an office; son, Francis J. Cuffe, age 23 (b. NYS), single, and
employed as a stationary engineer for an electrical company; daughter, Julia C.
Cuffe, age 18 (b. NYS), single, and not employed; son, James J. Cuffe, age 16
(b. NYS) and single; and daughter, Eleanor C. Cuffe, age 13 (b. NYS).

Free State) and employed as a lieutenant for the Buffalo Police Department, was

high school, and his residence was valued at $4,800. The household also included his wife, Julia
C. Cuffe, age 57 (b. NYS), who had completed 2 years of high school; daughter,
Julia Cuffe, age 24 (b. NYS) and single, with no record of employment, who had
completed 4 years of high school; daughter, Eleanor Cuffe, age 22 (b. NYS) and
single, with no record of employment, who had completed 4 years of high school;
son, Thomas Cuffe, age 36 (b. NYS), married (but separated), and employed as a
