Origin of
the surname “Dibble:”
Per a 1949 letter from Lynn Eugene
Brown: “Our ancestors were English.
[They were] known as beansetters. They used an instrument called a ‘Dibble,’ a
sort of punch-like affair for setting beans. [It] looked something like a
funnel. They established that instrument
as a symbol and their coat of arms.”
