Born 27 May 1775 in Easton Township, Bristol County, Massachusetts.  Died 8 June 1871.

 

1850 US Census: Asaph Drake, age 75 (b. MA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Weybridge Township, Addison County, Vermont.  His real estate was valued at $6,500.  The household also included his wife, Louisa Drake, age 80 (b. NH); and daughter, Sylvia Drake, age 40 (b. VT).  Of interest, the household headed by his son, Solomon, age 34, was enumerated directly afterwards (likely under the same roof).

 

1860 US Census: Asaph Drake, age 85 (b. MA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Weybridge (Lower Weybridge Falls Post Office) Township, Addison County, New York.  His real estate was valued at $9,000, and his personal property was valued at $500.  The household also included Sylvia Drake, age 52 (b. VT).  Of interest, several family members were enumerated on the same census page.

 

1870 US Census: Asaph Drake, age 95 (b. MA) and a retired farmer, resided in the household headed by Fordyce Shaw, age 59 (b. VT) and employed as a farmer, in Weybridge Township (West Salisbury Post Office), Addison County, Vermont.  Fordyce's real estate was valued at $12,000, and his personal property was valued at $2,000.  The household also included Angeline P. Shaw, age 56 (b. VT); and Sylvia S. Drake, age 60 (b. VT).

1840 US Census: Elijah Drake was heading a household in Weybridge Township, Addison County, Vermont.  The household included 2 males age 20 to 30; 1 male age 40 to 50; 1 female age 5 to 10; 1 female age 10 to 15; 1 female age 15 to 20; 1 female age 40 to 50; and 1 female age 70 to 80.

 

1850 US Census: Elijah G. Drake, age 53 (b. VT) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Weybridge Township, Addison County, Vermont.  His real estate was valued at $4,000.  The household also included his wife, Harriet Drake, age 51 (b. 1860 US Census: Elijah G. Drake, age 63 (b. VT) and Harriet B. Drake, age 60 (b. VT) resided in the household headed by their son-in-law, John A. Child, age 31 (b. VT) in Weybridge Township, Addison County, Vermont.

 

Elijah Drake married Harriet Brewster (b. 14 Sep 1799, d. 10 Mar 1863 at Weybridge, VT; interred with Elijah), daughter of William and Sarah (Williston) Brewster, on 6 December 1821 at Weybridge, Addison County, Vermont (license issued same day in Middlebury Twp, Addison Co., VT) and had at least the following children:

 

(1. Sarah Louisa Drake: Born 5 May 1830.  Died 15 January 1893; interred Weybridge Hill Cemetery, Weybridge, Addison County, Vermont.  At age 22 married John Adams Child, age 23, son of John and Abigail (Wright) Child, on 10 March 1852 at Weybridge and had children.

 

1860 US Census: John A. Child, age 31 (b. VT) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Weybridge Township (Weybridge Lower Falls Post Office), Addison County, Vermont.  His real estate was valued at $500, and his personal property was valued at $500.  The household also included his wife, Sarah Child, age 30; son, Willis B. Child, age 4 (b. VT); daughter, Harriet Child, age 2 (b. VT); father-in-law, Elijah G. Drake, age 63 (b. VT) and employed as a farmer, whose real estate was valued at $4,500 and personal property was valued at $550; mother-in-law, Harriet B. Drake, age 60 (b. VT); George McCue, age 19 (b. Ireland) and employed as a farm laborer; Charles Gantt, age 23 (b. Canada) and employed as a farm laborer; Sylva Drake, age 75 (b. MA); and domestic servant, Fanni Adams, age 21 (b. Canada).

1850 US Census: Lauren Drake, age 50 (b. VT) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Weybridge Township, Addison County, Vermont.  His real estate was valued at $4,000.  The household also included his wife, Rebecca Drake, age 41 (b. CT); son, Lauren C. Drake, age 18 (b. VT); and Charles McFarlan, age 19 (b. NYS) and employed as a laborer.

 

1860 US Census: Lauren Drake, age 60 (b. VT) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Ripton Township, Addison County, Vermont.  His real estate was valued at $4,500, and his personal property was valued at $2,000.  The household also included his wife, Rebecca Drake, age 59 (b. CT).

 

Lauren Drake married Rebecca W. Hurd (b. 23 Oct 1801, d. 12 Jun 1862; interred Weybride Hill Cem.), daughter of William Hurd, on 12 June 1828 at Weybridge, Vermont and had the following son:

 

(1. Achsa L. Drake: Born 1830 in Vermont.  Died 25 September 1899.  Married Uriah D. Twitchell (b. 1825, d. 1901) and had the following children:

(b. Daniel L. Twitchell: Born 1858.  Died 3 February 1858 in Weybridge Township, Addison County, Vermont.

 

(b. Eugene Twitchell: Born 12 August 1861 in Weybridge Township, Addison County, Vermont.  At age 37 married Ella Gertrude Vance, age 42, daughter of James and Anne (Bethel) Vance, on 30 September 1899 at Middlebury, Addison County, Vermont.

 

(2. Lauren Curtis Drake: Born about 1833 in Weybridge Township, Addison County, Vermont.  Died there 13 May 1885, age 52 years, 10 months, and 21 days, from complications of an embolism; interred there in Weybridge Hill Cemetery.

 

1870 US Census: Loren C. Drake, age 38 (b. VT) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Weybridge Township (West Salisbury Post Office), Addison County, Vermont.  His real estate was valued at $7,500, and his personal property was valued at $800.  The household also included his wife, Marion Drake, age 32 (b. VT); son, Harrison W. Drake, age 6 (b. VT); daughter, Hortense Drake, age 4 (b. VT); and Amanda Hayward, age 50 (b. VT).

 

Lauren C. Drake married Marion Eliza Wilder (b. 15 Aug 1836, d. 17 Jan 1923) and had the following children:

 

(a. Harrison W. Drake: Born 24 April 1864 in Vermont.

 

(b. Hortense M. Drake: Born 5 June 1866 in Vermont.  Died March 1963 in Volusia County, Florida; interred Lake View Cemetery, West Addison, Addison County, Vermont.  Married (?) Hoyt.

 

c. Isaac Drake: Born 8 March 1802 at (perhaps) Weybridge, Addison County, Vermont.  Died 17 May 1886.

 

1850 US Census: Isaac Drake, age 48 (b. VT) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Weybridge Township, Addison County, Vermont.  His real estate was valued at $8,500.  The household also included his wife, Mary Drake, age 44 (b. VT); Reuben Laburte, age 50 (b. Canada) and employed as a laborer; and Margarette McLauglin, age 20 (b. Ireland).

 

1860 US Census: Issac Drake, age 58 (b. VT) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Weybridge Township, Addison County, Vermont.  His real estate was valued at $6,000, and his personal property was valued at $5,000.  The household also included his wife, Mary Drake, age 56 (b. VT) and Reuben Liberty, age 60 (b. Canada) and employed as a farm laborer.

 

1870 US Census: Isaac Drake, age 68 (b. VT) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Weybridge Township, Addison County, Vermont. His real estate was valued at $9,000, and his personal property was valued at $7,000.  The household also included Harriet Bowdish, age 35 (b. VT); Julia Walker, age 28 (b. VT); and Urbin Liberty, age 70 (b. Canada) and employed as a farm laborer.

 

Isaac Drake married Mary Williston Brewster on 11 March 1830 at Weybridge, Vermont.

f. Sylvia Louisa Drake: Born 23 February 1810 at Weybridge, Addison County, Vermont.  Died there 17 March 1896 in Vermont, age 86 years and 23 days, from complications of heart failure; interred Weybridge Hill Cemetery.  Never married.

 

1860 US Census: Sylvia Drake, age 52 (b. VT), resided with her father in Weybridge Township, Addison County, Vermont.

 

g. Cyrus/Syrus Bryant Drake, DD (doctor of divinity) : Born 18 August 1812 at Weybridge, Addison County, Vermont.  Died 21 April 1878, age 65 years, 3 months, and 20 years, from complications of pneumonia at Royalton, Windsor County, Vermont; interred Weybridge Hill Cemetery.  Employed as a clergyman

 

1870 US Census: Cyrus Drake, age 57 (b. VT) and employed as a clergyman, was heading a household in Royalton Township, Windsor County, Vermont.  His real estate was valued at $3,500?.  The household also included his wife, Louise Drake, age 55 (b. VT); and daughter, Louise Drake, age 27 (b. VT).

 

Cyrus Drake married Louisa Maria Smith (d. 6 Nov 1870) on 6 October 1840.

 

h. Polly Angelina Drake "Angeline": Born 7 August 1814 at Weybridge, Addison County, Vermont.  Died there 26 March 1887, age 74 years and months, from complications of heart disease.  Married Fordyce M. Shaw (b. abt 1811 in VT), likely son of Annis/Ann S. Shaw (b. abt 1777 in MA).

 

1855 MA Census: Mardis Y. M. Shaw, age 43 (b. VT) and employed as a commission? merchant, was heading a household in Malden, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.  The household also included his wife, Angelia P. Shaw, age 41 (birth location not recorded); Annis Shaw, age 76 (birth location not recorded); and Julia Sullivan, age 20 (b. Ireland).

 

1860 US Census: F. M. Shaw, age 49 (b. VT) and employed as a grocer, was heading a household in Malden Township, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.  The household also included his wife, A. P. Shaw, age 46 (b. VT); and Ann S. Shaw, age 83 (b. MA).

 

1870 US Census: Fordyce Shaw, age 59 (b. VT) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Weybridge Township (West Salisbury Post Office), Addison County, Vermont.  His real estate was valued at $12,000, and his personal property was valued at $2,000.  The household also included his wife, Angeline P. Shaw, age 56 (b. VT); father-in-law, Asaph Drake, age 95 (b. MA) and a retired farmer; and sister-in-law, Sylvia L. Drake, age 60 (b. VT) and at home.

i. Solomon Drake: Born 11 January 1817 at Weybridge, Addison County, Vermont.  Died 18 June 1884 at Otho, Webster County, Iowa.  Employed as a farmer.

 

1850 US Census: Solomon Drake, age 34 (b. VT) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Weybridge Township, Addison County, Vermont.  No record of owning real or personal property.  The household also included his wife, Mary Drake, age 29 (b. NYS).  Of interest, the household headed by his father was enumerated directly before (likely under the same roof).

 

Solomon Drake married (1st) Mary Bangs (b. 17 Nov 1821, d. 30 Dec 1853, age 32; interred Weybridge Hill Cem.) on 10 October 1843 in LeRoy Township, Genesee County, New York and had the following children:

(3. Sylvia Mabel Drake: Born 15 December 1871 in Iowa.  Died 17 December 1946 in Los Angeles County, California; interred Hillside Memorial Park, Redlands, San Bernardino County, California.  Married Raymond Cummings Brooks (b. 26 Sep 1869, d. 14 May 1944) in 1896.

Bryant Stillman Drake: Born 13 August 1877 in Lehigh Township, Webster County, Iowa.  Died 9 January 1958 in California; interred Golden Gate National Cemetery; San Bruno, San Mateo County, California.  Married Flora Ornis Frickstad (b. 2 Sep 1881 in NYS, d. 27 Dec 1968 in CA) and had the following son:

VT) and employed as a manufacturer, was heading a household in Stockholm Township, St. Lawrence County, New York.  His real estate was valued at $6,000.  The household also included his wife, Caroline Drake, age 48 (b. NH); son, Asaph Drake, age 18 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer; son, Francis Drake, age 17 (b. NYS) and employed as a manufacturer; daughter, Mary A. Drake, age 15 (b. NYS); daughter, Harriet L. Drake, age 13 (b. NYS); son, Isaac, Drake, age 6 (b. NYS); and Martha M. Ticher?, age 25 (b. NYS), with no record of employment.

VT) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Weybridge Township, Addison County, Vermont.  His real estate was valued at $12,000, and his personal property was valued at $7,500.  The household also included his wife, Abagail Foot, age 60 (b. VT); Asaph Drake, age 29 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, whose real estate was valued at $1,250; and Mary Drake, age 29 (b. VT).

1880 US Census: F. B. Drake, age 47 (b. NYS; father b. VT; mother b. NH) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Clay Township, Webster County, Iowa.  The household also included his wife, Caroline Drake, age 46 (b. CT; parents b. CT); adopted daughter, Charlotte Malander, age 16 (b. Sweden; parents b. Sweden); sister-in-law, Weltha Drake, age 28 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a dress maker; nephew Belding Drake, age 9 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS); Ed Hintz, age 22 (b. WI; father b. Germany; mother b. England), married, and employed as a farm laborer; and Thomas Fox, age 55 (b. Bohemia; parents b. Bohemia), married, and employed as a farm laborer.

David Belding Drake: Born 19/18 February 1871 at Stockholm Center, Stockholm Township, St. Lawrence County, New York.  Died 29 March 1938 at Challis, Custer County, Idaho; interred there in Challis Cemetery.  Married Sarah Metcalf (b. 23 Mar 1874 at Hyde Park, Cache Co., UT, d. 18 Nov 1960 at Challis, Custer Co., ID), daughter of Anthony and Mary Ann (Reeder) Metcalf.
