1. Biographical notes:
Born 28 March 1888 at Leicester, England. Died 30
January 1976, 8 PM. at Watertown, Jefferson County, New York; interred Grove
Cemetery, Lafargeville, Orleans Township, Jefferson
County. At age 21 he arrived, apparently
without family members (no other Ellingworths noticed
on manifest), at the port of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada aboard the ship
"Gampian."
He had been a farmer in England, intended to be a laborer in Canada, and
designated Gananoque, Ontario, Canada as his
destination in Canada. On 7 April 1910 Wilfrid Ellingworth entered the
US at Clayton, Clayton Township, Jefferson County, New York, where he became a
naturalized citizen on 3 December 1921; records at the Supreme Court,
Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.
1910 US Census: Wilfrid Ellingworth, age 22 (b. England; parents b. England),
single, and employed as a hired man (laborer), resided in the household headed
by John Ball, age 48 (b. NYS; father b. Germany, mother b. NYS) and employed as
a farmer, in Clayton Township, Jefferson County, New York. Wilfrid immigrated
to the US in 1910.
1917 WWI Draft Registration: Wilfrid
Ellingworth, age 28 (b. 28 Mar 1889 at Gilmorton,
Leicestershire, England) and employed as a farmer, resided at RFD Lafargeville, Orleans Township, Jefferson County, New
York. He had a wife and 3 children.
1920 US Census: Wilfred Ellingworth, age 30 (b.
England; parents b. England) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household
in Clayton Township, Jefferson County, New York. He immigrated to the US in 1910 and was still
an alien. The household also included
his wife, Nora A. Ellingworth, age 26 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS); daughter, Alice
P. Ellingworth, age 5 years and 11 months (b. NYS); daughter, Winnie M.
Ellingworth, age 4 years and 8 months (b. NYS); daughter, Amy A. Ellingworth,
age 3 years and 10 months (b. NYS); sister-in-law, Mary M. Murdock, age 22 (b.
NYS; parents b. NYS), single, and
employed as a servant for a private family; and servant, Arthur H. Weller, age

Ellingworth (b. 28 Mar 1888 in England during the
reign of King George V) and a resident of R.D.2, Lafargeville, Orleans Township, Jefferson County, New York,
entered the US at the port of Clayton, Jefferson County, New York on 7 April
1910. He became a naturalized citizen of
the US on 3 December 1921; records at the Supreme Court, Watertown, Jefferson
County, New York.
1930 US Census: Wilfred Ellingsworth,
age 41 (b. England; parents b. England) and employed as a farmer, was heading a
household in Clayton Township, Jefferson County, New York. He immigrated to the US in 1911 (subsequently
naturalized), and he married 1st at age 23.
The household also included his wife, Nora Ellingsworth,
age 36 (b. NYS; father b. NYS; mother b. WI), who married 1st at age 18;
daughter, Alice Ellingsworth, age 16 (b. NYS; parents
b. NYS) and single, with no occupation recorded; daughter, Winnifred
Ellingsworth, age 14 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and
single; daughter, Amy Ellingsworth, age 13 (b. NYS;
parents b. NYS); son, Warren Ellingsworth, age 8 (b.

of a retail grocery store, was heading a household at 710 Flower Avenue West in
the City of Watertown, Jefferson County, New York. He was a naturalized citizen, and he had
completed 8th grade. The household also
included his wife, Nora A. Ellingworth, age 46 (b. NYS) and employed as an
assistant in a retail grocery, who had completed 1 year of high school; and
sister-in-law, Mary Murdock, age 42 (b. NYS) and single, who had completed 1
year of high school and had no occupation recorded. On 1 April 1935 they resided in rural
Jefferson County, New York.
