1850 US Census: Michael Fikes, age 65 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New  York.  The household also included Adam Fikes, age 20 (b. NYS); Mary Fikes, age 58 (b. NYS); and Mary Ann Fikes, age 19 (b. NYS).

Born about 1792 in New York.  Died 7 December 1873 in Jefferson County, New York; interred Van Allen Cemetery.

NYS); son, Geo Fikes, age 3 (b. NYS); brother, Geo Fikes, age 24 (b. NYS) and employed as a carpenter; and George's wife, Jane Fikes, age 30 (b. NYS).

Herkimer Co., NY) and employed as a carpenter, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Catherine Fikes, age 36 (b. Jefferson Co., NY), who had had 1 child; son, Albert Fikes, age 11 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); and mother, Mary Fikes, age 72 (b. Herkimer Co., NY), who had had 12 children.

 

1880 US Census: Adam Fikes, age 50 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  His real estate was valued at $400.  The household also included his wife, Catharine Fikes, age 59 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS); and son, Joseph Fikes, age 19 (b. NYS).  Of interest, the household headed by Albert Fikes, age 26, was enumerated next door, and the household headed by George Fikes, age 52, was enumerated on the same census page.

Born about 1827 in Herkimer County, New York.  Died 1 August 1884 in Jefferson County, New York; interred Van Allen Cemetery.  Moved from Herkimer County to Jefferson County about 1837.  Veteran of the US Civil War; served as a private in the 10th NY Artillery from 4 August 1862 to 23 June 1865 (2 years, 10 months, 19 days).

 

1850 US Census: George Fikes, age 24, resided with his presumed brother, John M. Fikes, in Pamelia Township, Jefferson County, New York.

 

1855 NYS Census: Geo Fikes, age 27 (b. Herkimer Co., NY) and employed as a carpenter, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He had resided in Jefferson County for 15 years.  The household also included his wife, Jane Fikes, age 30 (b. Saratoga Co., NY), who had resided in Jeffersn County for 18 years; son, Erzaen Fikes, age 4 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); and daughter, C. A. Fikes, age 2 (b. Jefferson Co., NY).

 

1860 US Census: George Fikes, age 33 (b. NYS) and employed as a sawyer, was heading a household in Orleans Township, Jefferson County, New York.  His real estate was valued at $2,000 and his personal property was valued at $500.  The household also included his wife, Jane Fikes, age 35 (b. NYS); son, Irwin Fikes, age 9 (b. NYS); daughter, Celia Fikes, age 7 (b. NYS); son, Ernest Fikes, age 5 (b. NYS); daughter, Ida Fikes, age 3 (b. NYS); and son, Willie Fikes, age 1 (b. NYS).

Saratoga Co., NYS); son, Ernest Fikes, age 19 (b. Jefferson Co., NYS); son, Willie G. Fikes, age 15 (b. Jefferson Co., NYS); and daughter, Mary E. Fikes, age 13 (b. Jefferson Co., NYS).

 

1880 US Census: George Fikes, age 52 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a house carpenter, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Jane Fikes, age 54 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS); son, Willie Fikes, age 22 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer; and daughter, Mary Fikes, age 17 (b. NYS).  Of interest, the households headed by Albert Fikes, age 26 (b. 1900 US Census: William Fikes, age 40 (b. Apr 1860 in NYS) and employed as , was  heading a household in/near the Village of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Hattie Fikes, age 35 (b. Jun 1864 in NYS); son, Roy Fikes, age 13 (b. Dec 1886 in NYS); daughter, Ida Fikes, age 11 (b. Apr 1889 in NYS), son, Emery Fikes, age 8 (b. Sep 1892 in NYS); daughter, Edna Fikes, age 5 (b. Sep 1895 in NYS); and laborer, Birt Hewit, age 24 (b. Jan 1876 in NYS).

1920 US Census: William G. Fikes, age 59 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), with no occupation recorded, was heading a household on Clark Street in Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Ida C. Fikes, age 52 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS).

 

1930 US Census: William G. Fikes, age 69 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), with no occupation recorded, was heading a household at 132 Clark Street in the Village of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  His residence was valued at $3,000, and he married 1st at age 46.  The household also included his wife, Ida C. Fikes, age 63 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), who married 1st at age 37.

 

1940 US Census: William G. Fikes, age 79 (b. NYS), with no occupation recorded, was heading a household at 101 Church Street in the Village of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  In April 1935 he resided in the same township.  The household also included his wife, Ida C. Fikes, age 73 (b. NYS).  They both had completed 6th grade.
