Born 23 August 1806.  Died 8/9 March 1861; interred Tuscola Township Cemetery, Tuscola Township, Douglas County, Illinois.

 

1850 US Census: Robert Finney, age 43 (b. NC) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Parke County, Indiana.  His real estate was valued at $1,500.  The household also included his wife, Malinda Finney, age 32 (b. NC); son, Elijah Finney, age 14 (b. IN); son, Daniel Finney, age 12 (b. IN); son, David Finney, age 11 (b. IN); son, Zimri Finney, age 7 (b. IN); son, Robert Finney, age 5 (b. IN); daughter, Mary Finney, age 3 (b. IN); son, Joseph Finney, age 1 (b. IN) and Jane McCool, age 18 (b. OH).

 

1860 US Census: No record found

 

1870 US Census: Malinda Finney, age 53 (b. NC), was heading a household in Tuscola Township (Tuscola Post Office), Douglas County, Illinois.  Her real estate was valued at $1,000 and her personal property was valued at $600.  The household also included her son, E. C. Finney, age 33 (b. IN) and employed as a grain dealer, whose real estate was valued at $600 and personal property was valued at $3,000; daughter, Mary E. Finney, age 21 (b. IN); and daughter, M. C. Finney, age 15 (b. IN).

Born 20 September 1815 in New Garden Township, Guilford County, North Carolina; daughter of Zimri and Mary (Dix/Dicks) Hunt.  Died 16 October 1896 in Tuscola Township, Douglas County, Illinois.  Married Robert Finney on 10 May 1835 in Parke County, Indiana.

a. Elijah Cook Finney: Born 4 April 1836 in Parke County, Indiana.  Died 24 January 1917 in Tuscola Township, Douglas County, Illinois.

 

b. Daniel William Finney: Born 8 October 1837 in Park County, Indiana.  Died 17 June 1905 in Dana Township, Vermillion County, Indiana.

 

c. David Wesley Finney: Born 22 August 1839 in Sugar Creek Township, Parke County, Indiana.  Died 1 November 1916 in Emporia Township, Lyon County, Kansas.

 

d. Pamela Ann Finney: Born 1 January 1841 in Parke County, Indiana.  Died there 3 March 1843.

 

e. Zimri Dix Finney: Born 18 March 1842 in Sugar Creek Township, Parke County, Indiana.  Died 14 January 1876 in Neosho Falls Township, Woodson County, Kansas.

h. Joseph Harrison Finney: Born 10 January 1849 in Parke County, Indiana.  Died 9 September 1897 in Newman Township, Douglas County, Indiana.

 

i. Malinda Catherine Finney "Catherine": Born 4 February 1855 in Parke County, Indiana.  Died 25 December 1941, age 86, in Tuscola Township, Douglas County, Illinois.  Married William Goldman.

Born 10/15 December 1844/45 in Sugar Creek Township, Parke County, Indiana.  Died 11 December 1912 at Rockville, Adams Township, Parke County, Indiana.

1870 US Census: Robt J. Finney, age 25 (b. IN) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Tuscola Township, Douglas County, Illinois.  His personal property was valued at $600.  The household also included his wife, M. D. Finney, age 25 (b. IN); and son, C. E. Finney, age 1 (b. IL).

 

1880 US Census: Robert J. Finney, age 35 (b. IN; parents b. NC) and employed as a constable, was heading a household in Tuscola Township, Douglas County, Illinois.  The household also included his wife, Melissa Finney, age 35 (b. IN; father b. KY; mother b. IN); and son, Charles E. Finney, age 11 (b. IL; parents b. IN).

1   Charles Edward Finney:

 

Born 29 April 1869 in Tuscola Township, Douglas County, Illinois.  Died 10 August/13 September 1954 at Tucson, Pima County, Arizona; interred there in South Lawn Cemetery.  Married (1st) Jessie Grose (b. 30 Nov 1871 in New Castle Twp, Henry Co., IN, d. 14 Jan 1952 at Tucson, Pima Co., AZ; interred with Charles), daughter of Madison and Mary Jane (Rader) Grose, on 20 June 1895 at Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana and had the following children:

 

1. Dorothy Mildred Finney: Born 11 June 1898 at Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana.  Died 11 June 1898.

 

2. Charles Wesley Finney: Born 30 November 1899 at Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana.  Died 15 May 1948 at San Diego, San Diego County, California; interred Tucson, Pima County, Arizona.  Married Gladys Cline on 10 March 1921 at Tucson, Arizona.

 

3. Marian Finney: Born 25 February 1905 at Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana.  Died there 25 February 1905.

 

Charles Edward Finney married 2nd, as her 2nd husband, Martha Hazel-Mae (Cool) Slater, in 9 April 1953/July 1954 (per Anna (Drake) Burdick, Martha's niece, they were married only a couple of weeks when Charles died suddenly from a heart attack).
