Born 1804 in Montgomery County, New York.  Died 1881, presumably in Rodman Township, Jefferson County, New York, where he resided with his son, Isaac; interred Fairview Cemetery, Rodman Township, Jefferson County, New York.

 

1850 US Census: Conrad Fry, age 45 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Lyme Township, Jefferson County, New York.  His real estate was valued at $2,000.  The household also included his wife, Nancy Fry, age 40 (b. NYS); daughter, Margaret Fry, age 17 (b. NYS); son, Peter Fry, age 15 (b. NYS) and employed as a laborer; daughter, Betsey Fry, age 13 (b. NYS); daughter, Seelia Ann Fry, age 9 (b. NYS); and daughter, Louisa Fry, age 7 (b. NYS).

 

1855 NYS Census: Coonrod Fry, age 50 (b. Montgomery Co., NY) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Lyme Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Nancy Fry, age 45 (b. Montgomery Co., NY); son, Peter Fry, age 19 (b. Montgomery Co., NY) and employed as a farmer; daughter, Betsey Fry, age 18 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); daughter, Julian Fry, age 16 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); son, Isaac Fry, age 14 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); daughter, Louisa Fry, age 12 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); and daughter-in-law, Sarah Fry, age 17 (b. MA).  Coonrod, Nancy, Peter, and Betsey had resided in Lyme Township for 18 years (so moved there about 1837).  Julian, Isaac, and Louisa had resided in Lyme Township their entire lives.  Sarah had resided in Lyme Township for 13 years.

NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Lyme Township (Cape Vincent Post Office), Jefferson County, New York.  His real estate was valued at $4,000, and his personal property was valued at $1,200.  The household also included his wife, Nancy Fry, age 50 (b. NYS); daughter, Julia Fry, age 20 (b. NYS); son, Isaac Fry, age 18 (b. NYS); and daughter, Louisa Fry, age 16 (b. NYS).

 

1865 NYS Census: Conrad Fry, age 60 (b. Montgomery Co., NY) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Lyme Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He had been married once.  The household also included his wife, Nancy Fry, age 55 (b. Montgomery Co., NY), who had been married once and had had 8 children; son, Peter Fry, age 35 (b. Montgomery Co., NY) and employed as a laborer, who had been married once and was still married; son, Isaac Fry, age 23 (b. Jefferson Co., NY) and single; daughter, Louisa Fry, age 20 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Lyme Township (Chaumont Post Office), Jefferson County, New York.  His real estate was valued at $4,500, and his personal property was valued at $1,175.  The household also included his wife, Nancy Fry, age 60 (b. NYS); grandson, James Fry, age 13 (b. NYS); grandson, Frank Fry, age 10 (b. NYS); and Peter Fry, age 31 (b. Montgomery Co., NY); grandson, James Fry, age 18 (b. Jefferson Co., NY) and employed as a farmer; and grandson, Frank Fry, age 16 (b. Jefferson Co., NY) and employed as a farmer.  Of interest, the household headed by their son, Peter Fry, age 38 (b. Montgomery Co., NY) was enumerated under the same roof.

 

1880 US Census: (enumerated 3 Jun 1880) Conrad Fry, age 75 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), widowed, and a retired farmer, resided in the household headed by his son, Isaac Fry, age 37 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) in Rodman Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Of interest, it appears his son, Isaac died after the enumeration of his household but before the census was filed.

NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Lorraine Township (Lorraine Post Office), Jefferson County, New York.  His personal property was valued at $300.  The household also included his wife, Mary Fry, age 21 (b. NYS); and their daughter, Estelle Fry, age 1 (b. NYS).

 

1875 NYS Census: Isaac Fry, age 30 (b. Jefferson Co., NY) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Lyme Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Mary Fry, age 26 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); and daughter, Hetta Fry, age 6 (b. Jefferson Co., NY).  Of interest, they resided under the same roof as the household headed by Julia Ryder, age 49 (b. Jefferson Co., NY) and widowed, who apparently had 3 children in her household.

 

1880 US Census: (enumerated 3 Jun 1880) Isaac Fry, age 37 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Rodman Township, Jefferson County, New York (his name was crossed out and labeled "Dead" on left margin of page, so apparently died after enumeration but before the census was filed).  The household also included his wife, Mary Fry, age 34 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS); daughter, Estella Fry, age 11 (b. NYS); daughter, Chloe Fry, age 2 (b. NYS); and father, Conrad Fry, age 75 (b. NYS) and widowed.

 

Isaac Fry married Mary (?) (b. abt 1846 in Jefferson Co., NY) and had the following children:

Born 22 June 1835 in Montgomery County, New York; baptized 29 November 1835 in the Dutch Reformed Church, Fort Plain, Minden Township, Montgomery County, New York.  Died 9 September 1898; interred Freeman Cemetery, Chaumont, Lyme Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Veteran of the American Civil War; served as a private in the 10th NY Artillery Regiment from 29 August 1864 to 23 June 1865 (9 months and 24 days), during which he was disabled by heart disease and sun stroke.

 

1860 US Census: No record found.

 

1865 NYS Census: Peter Fry, age 35 (b. Montgomery Co., NY) and employed as a laborer, who had been married once and was still married, resided with his parents in Lyme Township, Jefferson County, New York.

 

1870 US Census: Peter Fry, age 31 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, resided with his parents in Lyme Township, Jefferson County, New York.

 

1875 NYS Census: Peter Fry, age 38 (b. Jefferson Co., NY) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Lyme Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Mercy Ann Fry, age 19 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); and daughter, Estra Fry, age 1 (b. Jefferson Co., NY).  Of interest, his father, Conrad Fry, age 70 (b. Montgomery Co., NY) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household under the same roof.

NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Lyme Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Mercy A. Fry, age 26 (b. NYS; parents b. 1900 US Census: James Fry, age 43 (b. Mar 1857 in NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a wholesale paper dealer, was heading a household in the Village of Brownville, Brownville Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife of 13 years, Mary Fry, age 37 (b. Feb 1863 in NYS; parents b. NYS), who had had no children.  Of interest, the household headed by his brother, Frank Fray, age 40 (b. Nov 1859) was enumerated next door.

NYS) and employed as a wholesale paper salesman, was heading a household in the Village of Brownville, Brownville Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Mary C. Frye, age 56 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS); and brother-in-law, Edward E. Gayer, age 60 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), widowed, and employed as a laborer in a paper mill.

 

1930 US Census: James W. Fry, age 69 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a salesman in the wholesale paper industry, was heading a household in the Village of Brownville, Brownville Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He married 1st at age 26.  The household also included his wife, Mary C. Fry, age 67 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), who married 1st at age 24.

1880 US Census: Frank Fry, age 20 (b. NYS) and employed as , resided in the household headed by his uncle, (?) Walrath, age 44 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, in Brownville Township, Jefferson County, New York.

 

1900 US Census: Frank Fray, age 40 (b. Nov 1859 in NYS) and employed as , was heading a household in the Village of Brownville, Brownville Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife of 10 years, Elizabeth Fray, age 34 (b. May 1866 in NYS; parents b. Germany), who had had 1 child, still alive; and daughter, Ruth E. Fray, age 5 (b. Oct 1894 in NYS).  Of interest, the household headed by James Fry, age 43 (b. NYS; parents b. Germany), who had been married once and had had 2 children, both still alive; daughter, Ruth E. Frye, age 15 (b. NYS); son, Floyd J. Frye, age 8 (b. NYS); daughter, Ruth E. Frye, age 25 (b. NYS; parents b. Germany), single, and employed as a saleswoman in a music store; son, Floyd J. Frye, age 18 (b. NYS), single, and employed as calendar man in a paper mill [managed the calendar (vertical) stack of steel rollers near the end of a paper machine's process]; and boarder, Michael Haley, age 54 (b. 1940 US Census: Elizabeth Frye, age 73 (b. NYS), widowed, and employed doing house work in a private home, resided in the household headed by James Pogue, age 62 (b. NYS), widowed, and employed as a chauffeur, at 210 Trinity Place in the City of Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.  Elizabeth had completed 4 years of high school, and she reside in the same city on 1 April 1935.

NYS) and employed as a paper maker in a paper mill, was heading a household on the Watertown to Cape Vincent Highway in Hounsfield Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He married 1st at age 24, and his residence was valued at $4,000.  The household also included his wife, Ruth E. Premo, age 35 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a clerk in a dress shop, who married 1st at age 26; and son, Floyd H. Premo, age 7 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS).

 

1940 US Census: James Premo, age 43 (b. NYS) and employed as back tender in a paper mill, was heading a household in Hounsfield Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He had completed 8th grade, and his residence was valued at $2,500.  The household also included his wife, Ruth E. Premo, age 45 (b. NYS) and employed as a saleslady in a department store, who had completed 3 years of high school; and son, Floyd H. Premo, age 17 (b. NYS) and employed as a musician in a local orchestra, who had completed 4 years of high school.  They resided in the same house on 1 April 1935.  Of interest, the household headed by Henry Premo, age 81 (b. English-speaking Canada) was enumerated next door.

 

Ruth Elizabeth Frye married James H. Premo (b. 6 Nov 1896 in Hounsfield Twp, Jefferson Co., NY, d. 17 Jul 1960 at Syracuse, Onondaga Co., NY), son of Frederick Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Bradshaw) Premo, on 21 June 1920 and had the following son:

 

(1. Floyd H. Premo: Born 3 October 1922 in New York.  Died May 1974 at Watertown, Jefferson County, New York; interred there.  Married Helen E. Larose (b. 3 Jun 1922, d. 15 Nov 1996 at Watertown, Jefferson Co., NY; interred there).

Born 31 May 1901.  Died 14 March 1983 in Jefferson County, New York; interred Brownville Cemetery, Brownville Township, Jefferson County, New York.

 

1930 US Census: Floyd J. Fry, age 28 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a laborer in a paper mill, was heading a household in the Village of Brownville, Brownville Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He married 1st at age 28, and his residence was valued at $3,900.  The household also included his wife, Hilda A. Fry, age 23 (b. NYS; parents b. Germany), who married 1st at age 22; and mother, Elizabeth Fry, age 63 (b. NYS; parents b. Germany) and widowed.  Of interest, the household headed by G. Fred Fry, age 49 (b. English-speaking Canada; parents b. English-speaking Canada), was enumerated next door, and the household headed by James W. Fry, age 69 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) was enumerated on the same census page.

NYS) and employed as a size man in a paper mill, was heading a household on Franklin Street in the Village of Brownville, Brownville Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He had completed 1 year of high school.  The household also included his wife, Hilda A. Fry, age 32 (b. NYS), who had completed 8th grade.  They resided in the same township on 1 April 1935.

Born 14 February 1908 at Plessis, Alexandria Township, Jefferson County, New York; daughter of William and Victoria (Silvernagle) Schweitzer (who also had son, Fred Schweitzer; daughter, Rose (Schweitzer) Weninger; son, Martin Schweitzer, and daughter, Mary (Schweitzer) Knowlton.  Died 29 July 1991.  At age 22 married Floyd James Frye, age 28, on 15 June 1929 in Jefferson County, New York.
