OH) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Poweshiek Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa.  His real estate was valued at $500.  The household also included his wife, Julia Fry, age 42 (b. PA); son, James Fry, age 23 (b. OH) and employed as a farmer, whose real estate was valued at $160; daughter, Elizabeth Fry, age 20 (b. OH); daughter, Mariah Fry, age 19 (b. OH); daughter, Rebecca Fry, age 15 (b. OH); son, Robert Fry, age 12 (b. OH); son, Samuel Fry, age 10 (b. OH); son, William Fry, age 8 (b. OH); and son, Henry Fry, age 6 (b. OH).

c. Mariah Fry: Born 14 February 1832 at Millersberg, Holmes County, Ohio.  Died 27 May 1917 at Ellensburg, Kittitas County, Washington; interred there in Ioof Cemetery.  Married Charles Levi Wheeler (b. abt 1832, d. 1882) on 8 July 1852 in Poweshiek County, Iowa.

 

d. Rebecca Jane Fry: Born 2 February 1836 (also seen: b. 5 Mar 1835) at Millersburg, Holmes County, Ohio.  Died 25 May 1913, age 77, at Ellenburg, Kittitas County, Washington.  Married Sanford Parish Hayes (b. abt 1832 in OH) on 9 February 1853 in Poweshiek County, Iowa.

1900 US Census: Charles H. Fry, age 38 (b. Jun 1861 in IA; parents b. IA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Coquille Precinct, Coos County, Oregon.  The household also included his wife of 18 years, Eva J. Fry, age 33 (b. Nov 1856 [quite legible; should be 1866] in CA; father b. IL; mother b. IA), who had had 3 children, all still alive; daughter, Stala M. Fry, age 15 (b. Jan 1885 in CA); daughter, Clara B. Fry, age 12 (b. Sep 1887 in CA); and son, Charles W. Fry, age 7 (b. Nov 1892 in CA).

 

1910 US Census: Charles H. Fry, age 48 (b. IA; parents b. Fry, age 53 (b. CA; father b. OH; mother b. IA); partner, Joseph Meerley, age 38 (b. WI; parents b. WI), single, and employed as a dairy rancher; roomer, John Kiley, age 15 (b. MT; parents b. Ireland), single, and not employed; and roomer, Edward Kiley, age 14 (b. MT; parents b. Ireland), single, and not employed.

OH) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household at 370 Blythe Road in Fresno County, California.  He married 1st at age 21.  The household also included his wife, Eva J. Fry, age 62 (b. CA; parents b. IA), who married 1st at age 16; and lodger, Joseph E. Murley, age 48 (b. WI; parents b. WI), single, and employed as a farmer.

 

1940 US Census: Charles H. Fry, age 78 (b. IA), with no occupation recorded, was heading a household at Soquel, Santa Cruz Township, Santa Cruz County, California.  He had completed 7th grade.  The household also included his wife, Eva J. Fry, age 73 (b. CA), with no occupation recorded, who had completed 8th grade; daughter, Clara B. Ferris, age 53 (b. CA), with no occupation recorded, who had completed 1 year of high school; granddaughter, Philles Ferris, age 15 (b. WA), with no occupation recorded, who had completed 1 year of high school; and lodger, Joseph E. Murley, age 58 (b. WI) and employed as a gardener for a private home, who had completed 4 years of high school.  Charles, Eva, and Joseph resided in the same house on 1 April 1935.  At that time Clara and Philles resided at Stanfield, Umatella County, Oregon.

Feb 1840 in Ireland; parents b. Ireland), who had had 10 children, 9 of whom were still alive; daughter, Emma Ferris, age 29 (b. Jan 1871 in VT), single, and employed as a servant; son, Carey H. Ferris, age 18 (b. Sep 1882 in VT), single, and employed as a farm laborer; son, Clarence E. Ferris, age 15 (b. Apr 1885 in VT); and boarder, Hattie Nelson, age 11 (b. CA; parents b. IA), who had had no children, and a large number of lodgers.

 

1918 WWI Draft Registration: Carey Howard Ferris, age 36 (b. 9 Sep 1882) and employed as a self-employed dairyman, resided in Wallula, Walla Walla County, Washington.  His nearest relative was his wife, Clara B. Ferris; same address.

 

1920 US Census: Carey H. Ferris, age 37 (b. VT; parents b. Ireland) and employed as a dairy farmer, was heading a household in Wallula Precinct, Walla Walla County, Washington.  The household also included his wife, Clara B. Ferris, age 32 (b. CA; father b. IA; mother b. CA); daughter, Hilda M. Ferris, age 9 (b. WA); and daughter, Irene L. Ferris, age 5 (b. WA).

 

1930 US Census: Carey H. Ferris, age 47 (b. VT; parents b. Northern Ireland) and employed as a dairyman on a dairy ranch, was heading a household on Gravel Road in Umatilla County, Oregon.  He married 1st at age 26.  The household also included his wife, Clara B. Ferris, age 42 (b. CA; father b. IA; mother b. CA), who married 1st at age 21; daughter, Hilda M. Ferris, age 19 (b. WA), single, and not employed; daughter, Irene L. Ferris, age 15 (b. 1940 US Census: Carey H. Ferris, age 57 (b. VT) and employed as a farm hand, resided in the household headed by Hawley J. Bean, age 48 (b. OR) in Umatilla County, Oregon.  Carey's marital status was not clear.

 

1942 WWII Draft Registration: Carey Howard Ferris, age 59 (b. 9 Sep 1882 in Waitsfield Twp, Washington Co., VT) resided at Echo, Umatilla County, Oregon.  He named Irene Adams of Echo as a person who would always know his address.  He signed his name: C. H. Ferris.

 

At age 22 married Carey Howard Ferris (b. 9/27 Sep 1882 at Waitsfield, VT, d. 15 Mar 1972 in Los Angeles Co., CA), age 27, son of John and Eliza (McKinzie) Ferris, on 24 November 1909 (license issued 22 Nov 1909) in Imperial County, California and had the following daughter:
