Born 1831 in Ireland; daughter of Michael Cunningham (b. 1786 in Ireland, d. 1870; interred with his daughter, Anne's family in Old Saint James Cem., Carthage, Wilna Twp., Jefferson Co., NY).  Died 12 April 1895 at home in the Village of Carthage, Wilna Township, Jefferson County, New York; interred there in Old Saint James Cemetery.

1900 US Census: James Gornley, age 37 (b. Mar 1863 in NYS; parents b. Ireland) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in the Village of Carthage, Wilna Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife of 12 years, Lilian Gornley, age 36 (b. Nov 1863 in NYS; father b. Ireland; mother b. Switzerland), who had had 2 children, both still alive; daughter, Anna Gornley, age 9 (b. Sep 1890 in NYS); and son, Leo F. Gornley, age 2 (b. Sep 1897 in NYS).

 

1910 US Census: James Gormely, age 47 (b. NYS; parents b. Ireland) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household on Carthage Road in Lewisburg, Diana Township, Lewis County, New York.  He had been married once.  The household also included his wife of 23 years, Lillian Gormely, age 43 (b. 1920 US Census: James F. Gormley, age 55 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a dairy farmer, was heading a household on Russell Turnpike in Wilna Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Lilian E. Gormley, age 54 (b. NYS; father b. Ireland; mother b. Switzerland and spoke German); and son, Leo F. Gormley, age 22 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), single, and employed as a chauffeur in the auto repair industry.

 

1930 US Census: James Gormley, age 69 (b. NYS) and widowed, resided in the household headed by his son, Leo F. Gormley, in the Village of Carthage, Wilna Township, Jefferson County, New York.

NYS) and employed working on the farm; and daughter, Julia Plunkett, age 10 (b. NYS).

1900 US Census: Jean Mosher, age 36 (b. Jan 1864 in NYS; parents b. NYS), widowed, and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Wilna Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his son, Leman Mosher, age 8 (b. Jul 1891 in NYS); son, Earl Mosher, age 7 (b. Apr 1893 in NYS); servant, Hannah Coslon, age 46 (b. Mar 1854 in English-speaking Canada; father b. English-speaking Canada; mother b. Born 16 September 1897 at Lewisburg, Diana Township, Lewis County, New York.  Died 1 August 1975 at Mercy Hospital, Watertown, Jefferson County, New York; interred Old Saint James Cemetery, Carthage, Wilna Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Resided at 346 James Street in Carthage; owned and operated Gormley’s Liquor Store there from 1940 to 1967, when he retired.

 

1920 US Census: Leo F. Gormley, age 22, resided with his parents in Wilna Township, Jefferson County, New York.

 

1930 US Census: Leo F. Gormley, age 32 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a farm implement salesman, was heading a household at 317 South Clinton Street in the Village of Carthage, Wilna Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He married 1st at age 24.  The household also included his wife, Vera F. Gormley, age 29 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), who married 1st at age 21; son, Merle Gormley, age 7 (b. NYS); daughter, Mildred Gormley, age 6 (b. NYS); daughter, Mary Gormley, age 5 (b. NYS); and father, James Gormley, age 69 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and widowed.

Born 19 October 1899 in Pinckney Township, Lewis County, New York; daughter of John P. and Nancy Agnes (McHale) Doyle of Montague, Lewis County, New York.  Died 21 April 2002, age 102, at Carthage, Wilna Township, Jefferson County, New York; interred there in the Old Saint James Cemetery.  At age 20, while a residence of Pinckney, New York, Vera married Leo Gormley, age 23 of Carthage, on 17 August 1921 at St. Mary's Church, Copenhagen, Lewis County, New York.

 

1900 US Census: John P. Doyle, age 39 (b. NYS; parents b. Ireland) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Pinckney Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Nancy A. Doyle, age 37 (b. NYS; parents b. Ireland), who had had 3 children, all still alive; daughter, Bessie M. Doyle, age 15 (b. NYS); son, William P. Doyle, age 13 (b. NYS); daughter, Vera Doyle, age 10 (b. NYS); and hired man, William H. McHale, age 42 (b. NYS; parents b. Ireland), single, and employed as a farm laborer.
