Immigrated to the US in 1884; subsequently became a naturalized citizen.
1900 US Census: John Grace, age 52 (b. Jul 1848 in
England; parents b. England) and employed as a day laborer, was heading a
household at 370 Canford Avenue in the City of
Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. The
household also included his wife of 31 years, Louisa Grace, age 51 (b. Jan 1849
in England; father b. England; mother b. Scotland), who had had 10 children, 9
of whom were still alive; son, John Grace, age 27 (b. Oct 1872 in England) and
employed as an iron worker; son, Charles Grace, age 22 (b. Mar 1877 in England)
and employed by a chemical works; son, William Grace, age 20 (b. Aug 1879 in

England) and employed as a time keeper, resided in the household headed by his
father at 370 Canford Avenue in the City of Detroit,
Wayne County, Michigan (see above).
1910 US Census: George Grace, age 26 (b. England)
and employed as a carpenter in a carpenter ship, resided in the household
headed by his father-in-law, George W. Marshall, age 53 (b. MI; parents b.
England) and employed as a machinist in a machine shop, at 333 Clark Avenue in
the City of Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.
