Born .  Died by 1850.

 

1840 US Census: Of possible interest, a William Hart was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household had 1 male under age 5; 1 male age 5 to 10 (perhaps Henry, who was abt age 60; 1 male age 10 to 15; 1 male age 50 to 60; 1 female age 5 to 10 (problem, since Abi was abt age 2); 1 female age 10 to 15; 2 females age 15 to 20; and 1 female age 40 to 50 (perhaps Susan, who was abt age 45).

 

1840 US Census: Also of interest, a Daniel Hart was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household had 1 male age 10 to 15 (problem, since Henry was abt age 6); 1 male age 50 to 60; 1 female under age 5 (Abi was abt age 2); 1 female age 10 to 15; and 1 female age 40 to 50 (perhaps Susan, who was abt age 45).

Born about 1795 in Herkimer County, New York.  Died .  Could not read or write.

 

1850 US Census: Susan Hart, age 55 (b. NYS), who could not read or write, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included her daughter, Abi Hart, age 11 (b. NYS); Mary Christman, age 4 (b. NYS); Martha Christman, age 1 (b. NYS); Elizabeth Christman, age 8 (b. NYS); Silas Christman, age 10 (b. NYS); son, Henry Hart, age 16 (b. NYS); Edwin Christman, age 11 (b. NYS); and George Christman, age 6 (b. NYS).  Of interest, the household headed by Jeremiah Hart, age 35 (b. NYS) was enumerated directly before her on the same census page.  Jeremiah's household also included Ina Hart, age 19 (b. NYS); and Sally Christman, age 31 (b. NYS).

 

1855 NYS Census: Susan Hart, age 60 (b. Herkimer Co., NY) and widowed, with no record of employment, who had resided in LeRay Township for 38 years [arrived abt 1817], was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Her residence was described as a "shanty" valued at $10.  The household also included her daughter, Abi Hart, age 17 (b. Jefferson Co., NYS); and son, Henry Hart, age 21 (b. Jefferson Co., NYS) and employed as a blacksmith.

Born about 1834 in Jefferson County, New York.  Died 5 June 1913 at Watertown, Jefferson County, New York; interred there in North Watertown Cemetery (NW Section HE).

 

1860 US Census: Henry Hart, age 26 (b. NYS) and employed as a blacksmith, was heading a household in Pamelia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  His personal property was valued at $250.  The household also included his wife, Helen R. Hart, age 26 (b. NYS); and son, Charles H. Hart, age 3 (b. NYS).

 

1865 NYS Census: Henry Hart, age 31 (b. Jefferson Co., NYS) and employed as a blacksmith, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He had been married once.  The household also included his wife, Luvina Hart, age 31 (b. Herkimer Co., NY), who had been married once and had had 1 child; and son, George Henry Hart, age 8 (b. Jefferson Co., NY).

 

1870 US Census: Henry Hart, age 36 (b. NYS) and employed as a blacksmith, was heading a household in LeRay Township (Philadelphia Post Office).  His real estate was valued at $1,000, and his personal property was valued at $800.  The household also included his wife, Sarah Hart, age 23 (b. NYS).  Did not include Henry's son, Charles H. Hart, who would have been about 13 years old.

 

1875 NYS Census: Henry Hart, age 40 (b. Jefferson Co., NY) and employed as a blacksmith, was heading a household in Antwerp Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Sarah Hart, age 28 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); daughter, Hattie Hart, age 4 years and 5 months (b. Jefferson Co., NY); and son, Archie Hart, age 1 year and 8 months (b. Jefferson Co., NY).

 

1880 US Census: Henry Hart, age 46 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a blacksmith, was heading a household in Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Sarah Hart, age 43 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and disabled with weakness; daughter, Hattie Hart, age 9 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS); son, Archibald Hart, age 6 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS); son, Charles Hart, age 23 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), married, and employed as a farm laborer; daughter-in-law, Mary Hart, age 20 (b. NYS; parents b. Canada); and granddaughter, Jennie Hart, age 4 months (b. Feb 1880 in NYS; parents b. NYS).

 

1900 US Census: Henry Hart, age 65 (b. May 1835 in NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a blacksmith, was heading a household in Champion Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife of 30 years, Sarah Hart, age 57 (b. Oct 1846 in NYS; parents b. NYS), who had had 2 children, both still alive.

 

1910 US Census: Henry Hart, age 76 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and not employed, was heading a household in Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He had been married twice.  The household also included his wife of 39 years, Sarah Hart, age 63 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), who had been married once and had had 2 children, both still alive.

Born 19 October 1846 in Orleans Township, Jefferson County, New York; daughter of Archibald H. and Nancy Anna (Faulkner)(Loadwick) Getman of Orleans Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Died 24 November 1937; interred Vestal Hills Memorial Park, Vestal, Broome County, New York.  Married Henry N. Hart about 1870.

 

1860 US Census: Archibald Getman, age 55 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Orleans Township (Orleans 4 Corners Post Office), Jefferson County, New York.  His real estate was valued at $4,800, and his personal property was valued at $600.  The household also included his wife, Nancy Getman, age 52 (b. NYS); daughter, Lana? Getman, age 20 (b. NYS); daughter, Mary Getman, age 20 (b. NYS); son, Archibald Getman, age 16 (b. NYS); daughter, Sarah Getman, age 14 (b. NYS); son, George Getman, age 11 (b. NYS); daughter, Emma Getman, age 10 (b. NYS); and daughter, Abby Getman, age 7 (b. NYS).

 

1865 NYS Census: Archibald Getman, age 60 (b. Montgomery Co., NY) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Orleans Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He had been married once.  The household also included his wife, Nancy Getman, age 58 (b. Montgomery Co., NY), who had been married once and had had 13 children; daughter, Sarah Getman, age 18 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); son, George Getman, age 16 (b. Jefferson Co., NY) and employed as a farmer; daughter, Emma Getman, age 15 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); daughter, Adaline Getman, age 12 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); boarder, Martin Walts, Jr., age 28 (b. Jefferson Co., NY) and employed as a farmer; boarder, Lany? Walts, age 26 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); and their child, Franky Walts, age 4 months (b. Jefferson Co., NY).  Of interest, the household headed by Stephen Getman, age 33 (b. Montgomery Co., NY) and employed as a farmer, was enumerated directly after them on the same census page.

Archibald Hart married (1st) Emma Idell Tilley (b. 1870, d. 1961) about 1898.

 

At age 43, while a resident of Wilawanna, Athens Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania and employed as a blacksmith, widower Archibald Hart married (2nd), as her 2nd husband, widow Anna A. (Gower) Taylor (b. Lycoming Co., PA), age 45, daughter of Jacob and Mary (Hill) Gower, on 25 August 1917 (license issued same day) at Elmira, Chemung County, New York.

 

1   Charles Henry Hart:

   

Note: At age 8 (1855 US Census), was very legibly recorded as George Henry Hart; by 1860 and after he was always referred to as Charles H. Hart.

 

Born May 1857 in New York.  Died before 1910.  Apparently not raised by his parents after his mother died (between 1865 and 1870).  Married Mary Ann Duffany, paragraph 3.k. of generation 5 of the Duffany Annex about 1879.
