Born about 1601 in Devon County, England.  Died 1 October 1657 at Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut; interred Poquonnock, Hartford County, Connecticut.  Employed as a farmer.  Presumed to emigrated from Plymouth, England to America on aboard the “Mary & John,” landing at Nantasket Point, Massachusetts on 30 May 1630.  Granted freeman status by the General Court at Dorchester on 14 May 1634.  Moved, with other members of the “Mary & John” company, from the Boston area of Massachusetts to the Connecticut River Valley.

Born about 1617 in Devon County, England, daughter of Thomas (b. about 1584 at Pembrokeshire, Wales) and Elizabeth (?) Ferguson (b. about 1586 in Wales, m. 1608 in Wales).  Died 7 October 1679 at Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut.  Married Thomas Holcomb on 14 May 1634 at Dorchester, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.  After Thomas died (1657), Elizabeth married (2nd) widower James Eno on 5 August 1658.

Born 11 June/6 November 1673 at Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut.  Died 29 September 1766 at Simsbury, Hartford County, Connecticut.  Served in the militia in 1716.  Represented Simsbury, Connecticut in the General Court of Connecticut for 4 terms (1748 -1753).

Born 26/27 December 1675 at Hampden, Springfield County, Massachusetts (or Simsbury, Hartford Co., CT), daughter of Peter and Martha (Cogan) Buell.  Died 6 September 1760 at Simsbury, Harford County, Connecticut.  Married Nathaniel on 1 November 1695 at Simsbury, Hartford County, Connecticut.

Born 25 October 1696/5 (or about 1699) at Simsbury, Hartford County, Connecticut.  Died 4 March 1784 (or Feb 1784) in the Salmon Brook Section of Simsbury and present day Granby.  Was employed as a farmer and inn-keeper.  Served in the Connecticut militia during the French and Indian Wars.

Born 25 August 1704 at Simsbury, Hartford County, Connecticut, daughter of David (b. 7 May 1669 at Boston, Suffolk County, MA) and Mary (Buck) Buttolph (b. 12 Mar 1673 at Wethersfield, Hartford Co., CN).  Died there 4 March 1767.  Married David Holcomb on 3 January/1 March 1722/21 at Simsbury.

1.  Biographical notes:

 

Born 13/3 April/March 1741/2 at Granby/Simsbury, Hartford County, Connecticut.  Died 10 May 1822/3 (or 19 Mar 1823) at Ulster, Bradford County, Pennsylvania; interred in the Old Ulster Cemetery.  In March 1793 settled in Ulster Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania and operated a saw mill on Cash’s Creek, near the center of town.  Served in the Revolutionary War.

 

2.  Wife: Hannah Crofut

 

Born 3 April 1742/41 at Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut of some Pequot-Christian Indian ancestry.  Died 1/6 June/July 1825 at Ulster, Bradford County, Pennsylvania; interred in the Old Ulster Cemetery.  Married Eli Holcomb on 10 March/3 October 1764 at Danbury and had a large family.

c. Hannah Holcomb: Born 3 April 1771 at Simsbury, Hartford County, Pennsylvania.  Died 29 January 1850 at LeRoy, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  First pioneer woman of LeRoy.  Married Seely Crofut and spent her day with family in LeRoy.

e. Truman H. Holcomb: Born 10/16 August 1769 at Simsbury, Hartford County, Connecticut.  Died 25/24 December 1848 at Ulster, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  First settled at LeRoy, but in 1814 purchased 121 acres of the farm occupied by his father in Ulster and moved there permanently.  Married (1st) Seba Bannen (d. Dec 1809) in 1793 and had the following children:

Hugh Holcomb: Born 14 October 1774 in Connecticut.  Died 27 June 1843 at Sunstroke, LeRoy Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  He and his brother, Truman, were among the first settlers of LeRoy, Pennsylvania.  Built and operated a sawmill and gristmill.  Married (1st) Elizabeth Oakley (perhaps the daughter of Miles Oakley of Barkhamsted, Connecticut) in 1800 at LeRoy and had the following son:

Cynthia Holcomb: Born 17 March 1783 in Connecticut.  Died 10 April 1868 at Ulster, Bradford County, Pennsylania.  Married Ebenezer Shaw (b. 5 Sep 1771 at Bristol Co., RI, d. 17 Dec 1871 at Sheshequin, Bradford Co., PA), son of Jeremiah and Abigail (Campbell) Shaw, of Sheshequin, Bradford County, Pennsylvania on 26 February 1801 at Ulster and had a large family.

Born 10 January 1779 at Granby, Hartford County, Connecticut.  Died 19 January 1849 at LeRoy, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  Settled on the flats at the north of the mill pond at the center of LeRoy, where he built a house an set up an apple orchard.  Soon after sold his farm and went west, returning after a few years.  Settled on the Robert McKee farm.  Was a Deacon in the Baptist Church and was, for many years, considered one of the Church’s leaders.  At the time of the 1840 US Census was in LeRoy, Bradford County, Pennsylvania with his wife and other female members of his household.

 

Enlisted 25 July 1814 at Franklin, Sussex County, New Jersey and served in Lt. William Aull’s detachment.

Born 17 April 1783 in Tolland County, Connecticut, daughter of John Kinsbury.  Died 18 October 1846, age 63.  Married Alpheus on 22 November 1801 at Ulster, Bradford County, Pennsylvania and had the following children:

e. Holbart Riley Holcombe: Born 12 January 1814.

 

f. Walsteain Holcombe: Born 7 April 1816.

 

g. Hannah Holcombe: Born 30 January 1818.  Married Robert McKee (b. 1818).

 

h. Phoebe Ann Holcombe: Born 30 May 1823.  Died 1904.  Married David Smiley on 23 September 1846.

Born 11 January 1809.  Died 26 November 1877 at Ulster, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.  Married John McKee, generation 3 of the McKee Annex on 23 August 1827.
