New York. Died Thursday, 6 December
1917 from complications of a stroke at the residence of his son, Joseph Child
Howland, at Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence County, New York. At age 6, shortly after the death of his
mother on 28 July 1839, was sent to live with his aunt and uncle, Joseph and
Lois (Howland) Child, in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.
1850 US Census: Hiram F. Howland, age 16, resided in
the household headed by his uncle, Joseph Child, age 65 (b. PA) in LeRay Township, Jefferson
County, New York. The household also
included Stephen Howland, age 19. Of
interest, the household headed by George B. Hart, age 43, was enumerated on the
same census page, and that household included George's daughter, Eunice Hart, age 19 (b. NYS), who, about 8 years later, married Hiram Howland.

Albert Howland married Lucy Herrick in 1830

County. Albert and Lucy had the
