England) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Cape Vincent Township, Jefferson County, New York.  His real estate was valued at $2,000.  The household also included his wife, Sarah Humphrey, age 46 (b. OR), single, and employed in a cannery, was heading a one-person household at 439 East Powell Blvd in Gresham Township, Multnomah County, Oregon.  She had completed 2 years of high school, and her residence was valued at $3,500.  She resided in the same house on 1 April 1935.

 

Following Talbert's death, Lovica (Tuthill) Lusted married (2nd) James Mengies (b. Aug 1850 in OR), who was employed as a farmer, before 1900.  He had 2 children from a previous marriage, both born shortly before Talbert Lusted died in 1892.

NYS; father b. French-speaking Canada; mother b. NYS), single, and employed as a clerk in a florist store; and boarder, Susie O'Brien, age 60 (b. Canada; father b. Ireland; mother b. At age 21 Alfred Humphrey, Jr. married (1st) Emma Furner (b. abt 1862 at P of Ontario, d. 1890), age 22, daughter of Henery and Anna (?) Furner (b. abt 1822) of Wolf Island, Frontenac County, Ontario, Canada, on 9 September 1884 on Wolf Island and had the following children:

Hill, age 34 (b. NYS; father b. NYS; mother b. English-speaking Canada) and employed as a bookkeeper for a department store, who married 1st at age 28.

 

1940 US Census: George F. Hill, age 57 (b. NH) and employed as an optometrist in his own office, was heading a household at 614 Franklin Street in the City of Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.  He had completed 1 years of college.  The household also included his wife, Emma Hill, age 44 (b. NYS), who had completed 4 years of college.  They resided in the same house on 1 April 1935.

 

At age 23, while employed as a stenographer and residing in the City of Watertown, Jefferson County, New York, Emma Humphrey married (1st) Frederick C. Haupt (b. Buffalo, Erie Co., NY), age 30 of Buffalo, son of John F. and Emma (Schenkelberger) Haupt, on 23 June 1919 (license issued same day) in Watertown, New York.  Frederick was employed as an engineer.  No known children.

 

About 1924 Emma (Humphrey) Haupt married (2nd) George F. Hill (b. 5 Nov 1882 in NH, d. Nov 1974, age 92; interred with Emma), who was employed as an optometrist in the City of Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.

English-speaking Canada) and employed as a commercial salesman [likely a transcription error of Arthur's occupation], who immigrated to the US in 1904 (naturalized 1901, which doesn't seem likely); son, Vernie Humphrey, age 13 (b. NYS).  Harvey and Susan resided in the City of Watertown on 1 April 1935.

Grant (d. 9 Mar 1990) on 26 August 1940 at the North Syracuse Baptist Church, North Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York and initially operated a dairy farm in Cape Vincent Township, New York.  In 1959 they moved to Baggs Corners to operate a dairy farm and a livestock transportation business.  They retired in 1978.  In 1991, following Grant's death in 1990, Esther moved to Phillipsburg, Missouri, then to Aldrich, Missouri.  Esther and John had the following children: (order uncertain)

Shortly after the birth of his daughter, Morris Humphrey's 1st wife, Eula (Switzer) Humphrey, died.  Morris married (2nd) Reta/Rita A. Clemens (b. Nov 1888), daughter of John H. (b. Lyme Twp, NY) and Mary Elizabeth (Bordell) Clemens (b. Cape Vincent Twp, NY), on 18 December 1922 at Utica, Oneida County, New York.

Germany); and Thomas Martin, age 24 (b. St. Lawrence Co., NY) and employed as a farmer.  Horatio had resided in Cape Vincent Township for 16 years; Mary for 2 years; and Thomas for 7 months.

 

2. H. F. Humphrey: Born about 1818 in Brownville Township, Jefferson County, New York.

 

1855 NYS Census: H. F. Humphrey, age 27 (b. CT) and employed as , was heading a household in Brownville Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Eliza Humphrey, age 26 (b. CT); and daughter, Mary Humphrey, age 2 (b. Jefferson Co., NY).  They had resided in Brownville Township for 2 years.

 

3. Oscar Humphrey: Born about 1849 in .

 

1855 NYS Census: Oscar Humphrey, age 6 (b. ), resided in the household headed by his uncle, William Pittock, age 35 (b. ) in Wilna Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included William's wife, Fidelia Pittock, age 36 (b. ) and others.  Oscar had resided in Wilna Township for 1 year.

 

4. Julia Humphry: Born about 1816.

 

1855 NYS Census: Julia Humphrey, age 39 (b. Herkimer Co., NY) and not employed, resided in the household headed by her sister, Rachel Rider, age 53 (b. Herkimer Co., NY) an dnot employed, in Antwerp Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Rachel had resided in Antwerp Township for 32 years, and Julia had resided in Antwerp Township for 20 years.

 

5. Geng? Humphrey: Born about 1810.

 

1855 NYS Census: Geng? Humphrey, age 45 (b. Herkimer Co., NY) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Theresa Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Catherin Humphrey, age 41 (b. Herkimer Co., NY); son, Ebenezer Humphrey, age 21 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); son, Martin Humphrey, age 18 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); and daughter, Orpha Humphrey, age 14 (b. Jefferson Co., NY ).  They all had resided in Theresa Township for 1 year.

 

6. Franklin Humphrey: Born about 1808.

 

1855 NYS Census: Franklin Humphry, age 47 (b. presumably Jefferson Co., NY) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Theresa Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Cordelia Higgins, age 32 (b. presumably Jefferson Co., NY); William Higgins, age 4 (b. presumably Jefferson Co., NY); son, Schuyler Higgins, age 3 (b. presumably Jefferson Co., NY); and daughter, Julia Higgins, age 10 months (b. presumably Jefferson Co., NY).  All but Julia had resided in Theresa Township for 2 years.  Note: County of birth was left blank unless it was not Jefferson County, New York.  Also, surname for Franklin appears to be Humphrey, but for the others, Higgins. 

 

7. Henry L. Humphrey: Born about 1835 in .

 

1865 NYS Census: Henry L. Humphrey, age 30 (b. Lewis Co., NY), with no occupation recorded, was heading a household in Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He had been married once, and his residence was valued at $2,000.  The household also included his wife, Lydia Humphrey, age 28 (b. Lewis Co., NY), who had been married once and had had 1 child,; son, Dennis C. Humphrey, age 3 years and 7 months (b. Lewis Co., NY); sister, Paulina Keyes, age 34 (b. Lewis Co., NY) and widowed, who had been married once and had had 3 children; nephew, Willie Keyes, age 11 (b. Lewis Co., NY); niece, Edwina Keyes, age 9 (b. IL); mother, Catharine Allen, age 74 (b. Albany Co., NY) and widowed, who had been married once and had had 11 children; and cousin, Eunice Allen, age 39 (b. Albany Co., NY) and single.
