wife, Sally Isdell, age 71 (b. Saratoga Co., NY) and
mother of 5.
1870 US Census: David Isdell, age 78 and retired from farming, was heading a
household in Philadelphia Township. The
household also included his wife, (?) Isdell (age
75); son, William Isdell (age 46, employed as a
druggist, grocer, retailer); Telica Isdell (age 49, b. Canada, perhaps William’s wife);
Florence Isdell (age 10, perhaps William’s dau); and Amanda Isdell (age 15,
perhaps William’s dau). All but Telica were
born in New York State.

included his wife, Charlotte F. Isdell, age 35 (b.
Germany) and mother of 3; son, George M. Isdell, age
6 (b. Albany Co., NY); and daughter, Ida M. Isdell,
age 1 year and 3 months (b. Jefferson Co., NY).
1870 US Census: Joseph B. Isdell, age 44 and employed as a druggist, grocer,
retailer, was heading a household in Philadelphia Township. The household also included his wife,
Charlotte F. Isdell (age 42, b. Wurtemburg);
George M. Isdell (age 10); and Ida M. Isdell (age 6). All
but Charlotte were born in New York State.

1850 US Census: William Isdell, age 42 and employed as a farmer, was heading a
household in Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York. The household also included his wife, Emiline Isdell (age 42);
daughter, Emily Isdell (age 16); son, John R. Isdell (age 15); son, Samuel Isdell
(age 10); and daughter, Julia M. Isdell (age 9). All
were born in New York State.
Of interest, living next door to
William Isdell in Philadelphia Township was David Isdell (age 56, employed as a farmer), perhaps William’s brother. David’s household also included his wife,
