Sally, did house cleaning, catering, and other jobs she could find to continue
to support her grandson, Ronald Charles Johnson, who she rescued from her
daughter-in-law in Alabama at age 16 months.

Born on Long Island, New York. Died
September 2003, age 83; interred National Cemetery, Calverton, New York (on
Long Island). Veteran
of World War II. Discharged from
the US Army shortly after his son, Ronald Charles Johnson, was born and went to
work for the DOW Chemical Corporation at Bremerton, Washington, where he helped
produce heavy water for the Atomic Energy Commission. Was the only technician in his work area who
survived an industrial accident there, though he lost one foot and part of another. With the
help of his sister, Alice, William recuperated, then
returned to New York, where he graduated from Fordham University. Subsequently employed 34
years by Chase Manhattan in New York City as Director of Foreign Loans and
Exchanges.

complications of a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Middle name in honor of his
great grandfather. Drafted into the US Army during the War in Vietnam; in 1971 served
in the field artillery there.
(3. Robert Charles Johnson: Born deaf in 1954. Middle name in honor of his
great grandfather. For most of
his early life Robert was mistakenly diagnosed as being mentally handicapped
and was institutionalized at Staten Island, New York. As an adult, was employed in Brooklyn, New
York.
