Born about 1840 in Canada.  Died before  April 1910.  Employed as a hat maker.

 

1850 US Census: No record found.

 

1860 US Census: Edward Johndrew, age 20 (b. Canada) and employed as a hatter apprentice, resided with Robert Calhoun, age 19 (b. NJ) and also employed as a hatter apprentice, in Orange (Orange Post Office); Essex County, New Jersey.

 

1870 US Census: Edwd Jondreau, age 29 (b. NYS) and employed as a hat maker, was heading a household in New York City, New York.  The household also included his wife, Ellen Jondreau, age 26 (b. Ireland) and employed as a dressmaker; daughter, Mary Jondreau, age 4 (b. NJ); son, Edwd Jondreau, Jr., age 1 (b. NJ); and Matilda Kane, age 60 (b. Ireland)

 

1880 US Census: Edward Jondreau, age 40 (b. NYS; parents b. Canada) and employed as a hatter, was heading a household in New York City, New York County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Ellen Jondreau, age 38 (b. Ireland; parents b. Ireland) and employed as a dressmaker; daughter, Mary Jondreau, age 13 (b. NJ); son, Edward Jondreau, Jr., age 11 (b. NYS); son, Albert Jondreau, age 9 (b. NYS); son, Joseph Jondreau, age 5 (b. NYS); son, Francis X. Jondreau, age 3 (b. NYS); and daughter, Winifred Jondreau, age 11 months (b. NYS).

1910 US Census: Ellen M. Jondreau, age 67 (b. Ireland), widowed, and employed as a dressmaker in shop, was heading a household in the Borough of Manhattan, New York City, New York.  She immigrated to the US in 1866 and had had 9 children, 8 of whom were still alive.  The household also included her son, Joseph Jondreau, age 34 (b. NYS; father b. NYS; mother b. Ireland), single, and employed as a clerk in the steel industry; son, Francis K. Jondreau, age 32 (b. NYS; father b. NYS; mother b. Ireland), single, and employed as a feeder in the printing industry; daughter, Madeline A. Jondreau, age 27 (b. NYS; father b. NYS; mother b. Ireland), single, and a trainee nurse in a hospital; daughter, Catherine T. Jondreau, age 24 (b. NYS; father b. NYS; mother b. Ireland), single, and not employed.

1918 WWI Draft Registration: Francis Xavier Jondreau, age 41 (b. 1 Aug 1877) and employed as a printer for Burr Printing House, resided with his mother, Ellen Jondreau, at 106 Northern Avenue in New York City, New York.  Signed his name: "FX Jondreau."

 

f. Winifred Jondreau: Born about 1879 in New York.  Perhaps died young.

 

g. Madelaine A. Jondreau: Born about 1883 in New York.

 

h. Kathryn T. Jondreau: Born 1885 in New York.  Died 1960; shares gravestone with her mother in Saint Peter's Cemetery, West New Brighton, Richmond County, New York.

Born 11 January 1872 in New York.  Died .

 

1880 US Census: Albert Jondreau, age 9 (b. NYS) resided with his parents and siblings in New York City, New York County, New York.

 

1930 US Census: Albert S. Jondreau, age 55 (b. NYS; father b. NYS; mother b. N. Ireland) and employed as superintendent of a warehouse, was heading a household at 1682 Victory Boulevard, Castleton Corners, West New Brighton Township, Richmond County (Staten Island), New York.  He married 1st at age 24.  The household also included his wife, Mary E. Jondreau, age 54 (b. NYS; father b. N. Ireland; mother b. NYS), who married 1st at age 24; son, Albert J. Jondreau, age 25 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), married, and employed as an office clerk, who married 1st at age 22; son, William J. Jondreau, age 16 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS); and son, Francis Jondreau, age 16 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS).

 

1940 US Census: Albert Jondreau, age 68 (b. NYS) and employed as clerk in a retail drug store, was heading a household at 2788 Creston Avenue in New York City, Bronx County, New York.  He had completed 2 years of college.  The household also included his wife, Mary Jondreau, age 68 (b. NYS), who had completed 8th grade; son, Albert Jondreau, age 34 (b. NYS), single, and employed as a freelance writer, who had completed 2 years of high school; son, Francis Jondreau, age 26 (b. NYS), single, and employed as a fireman, who had completed 4 years of high school; and son, William Jondreau, age 26 (b. NYS), single, and employed as sales manager for an advertising firm, who had completed 4 years of high school.  On 1 April 1935 they all resided elsewhere in Bronx County, New York.

 

1950 US Census:  Albert S. Jondreau, age 79 (b. NYS) and widowed, resided in the household headed by his son, Francis X. Jondreau, age 36, at 67-42 Eliot Avenue, Queens, Queens County, New York.

Born about 1872 in New York; daughter of Joseph H. and Electa Herbert (Conway) Boyd.  Died 26 August 1943 in Richmond County, New York.  Married Albert S. Jondreau on 20 December 1899 on Manhattan, New York City, New York.

b. Albert Joseph Jondreau: Born about 1905 in New York.  Died 26 September 1941 at Hoffman, Richmond County, North Carolina.  Married Frances Miller Spinneweber (b. 21 Oct 1906 at Rondout, Ulster Co., NY, d. 28 Oct 2013 at Fayetteville, Fayette Co., GA) on 18 June 1927 in Richmond County, Mew York.

1950 US Census: Francis X. Jondreau, age 36 (b. NYS) and employed as a fireman for the City Fire Department, was heading a household at 67-42 Eliot Avenue, Queens, Queens County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Minerva Jondreau, age 36 (b. NYS); son, Joseph B. Jondreau, age 7 (b. NYS); son, James A. Jondreau, age 5 (b. NYS); son, Fredrick A. Jondreau, age 4 (b. NYS); daughter, Kathleen M. Jondreau, age 0 (b. Aug 1949); and father, Albert S. Jondreau, age 79 (b. NYS) and widowed.
