His parents were of foreign birth, and his real estate was valued at $2,000; no personal property value. The household also included his wife, Rachel Jones, age 37 (b. PA); son, Richat Jones, age 5 (b. PA); and daughter, Mary Jones, age 3 (b. PA).

1880 US Census: No record found for Richard or Rachel Jones.

Born December 1835 in Pennsylvania; daughter of Arthur Elder of Pennsylvania. Died .

1860 US Census: Arthur Elder, age 70 (b. PA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Slippery Rock Township (Slippery Rock Post Office), Butler County, Pennsylvania. The household also included his daughter, Rachel Elder, age 26 (b. PA); son, Arthur Elder, age 25 (b. PA) and employed as a farm? agent; and Frank Shapin, age 38 (b. PA) and employed as a farm laborer.

1880 US Census: No record found for Richard or Rachel Jones.

1900 US Census: Rachel Jones, age 64 (b. Dec 1835 in PA; parents b. PA) and widowed, with no occupation, was heading a single-person household at 136 16th Street in the City of San Diego, San Diego County, California. She had had 2 children, both still alive.

1900 US Census: Richard A. Jones, age 35 (b. Dec 1864 in PA; father b. Wales; mother b. PA) and employed as a commissioned salesman, was heading a household at 37 16th Street in the City of San Diego, San Diego Township, San Diego County, California. The household also included his wife of 11 years, Mary Jones, age 31 (b. Jan 1869 in England; parents b. England), who immigrated to the US in 1887 and had had 4 children, both still alive; daughter, Leah Jones, age 7 (b. Dec 1892 in CA; father b. PA; mother b. England); and daughter, Florence Jones, age 3 (b. Jan 1897 in CA; father b. PA; mother b. England).

Note: In 1900 this is the only Leah Jones enumerated in San Diego, California, where Lewis C. Burdick resided.

PA), with his own income, was heading a household at 1187 Logan Avenue in the City of San Diego, San Diego Township, San Diego County, California. He had been married twice. The household also included his wife of 5 years, Mary W. Jones, age 46 (b. MA; parents b. MA), with no record of children; mother, Rachel E. Jones, age 82 (b. PA; parents b. PA), who had had 2 children, both still alive; mother-in-law, Caroline Walker, age 83 (b. CT; parents b. CT), who had had 3 children, 1 of whom was still alive; daughter, Leah M. Jones, age 17 (b. CA; father b. PA; mother b. England) and single; and daughter, May Florence Jones, age 13 (b. CA; father b. PA; mother b. England).

Note: In 1910 this is the only Leah Jones enumerated in San Diego, California, where Lewis C. Burdick resided.

Street in the City of San Diego, San Diego Township, San Diego County, California. The household also included his wife, Mary W. Jones, age 56 (b. MA; father b. MA; mother b. CT); and mother-in-law, Caroline Walker, age 93 (b. CT; parents b. CT) and widowed.

1930 US Census: Richard A. Jones, age 65 (b. PA; father b. Wales; mother b. PA) and not employed, was heading a household at 3430 28th Street in the City of San Diego, San Diego Township, San Diego County, California. He married 1st at age 24, and his residence was valued at $8,000. The household also included his wife, Mary W. Jones, age 66 (b. MA; father b. MA; mother b. CT), who married 1st at age 39.

1940 US Census: Richard A. Jones, age 75 (b. PA) and widowed, with no occupation recorded, was heading a single-person household at 3430 28th Street in the City of San Diego, San Diego Township, San Diego County, California. He had completed 6th grade, and his residence was valued at $3,200. On 1 Apr 1935 he resided in the same house.

Note: In 1940 a Leah Jones, female, age 46 (b. OR) was enumerated in San Diego, California with her son, LeRoy C. Jones and son, Francis, S. Jones, so this Leah's maiden name was probably not Jones.

Born 26 December 1892 in California. Died in California. Died 17 March 1979 I Alameda County, California. Married (1st) Lewis Carlisle Burdick in 1914; divorced in 1924. Married (2nd) Arthur Franklin Barry, son of William Franklin (b. NYS) and Laura (Masters) Barry (b. England).
