Born 1670/81 at Hurst, Berkshire, England. Died 22 September 1707 in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Was a British soldier stationed at Ireland; then stationed in America, arriving in New York City on 24 October 1700. With others on that voyage was court-martialed for mutiny; subsequently pardoned and sent to Albany, New York. Disserted and traveled to Westfield, Massachusetts, where he married. Subsequently moved to Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, where son Nathaniel was born. May have had other children.

Naphthali Kentfield was born about 1762 in Hampshire County, Massachusetts (perhaps Belchertown, Northampton, or South Hadley, where his parents were married). Veteran of the Revolutionary War; enlisted at Northampton.
1790 US Census: Naphthali Kentfield was heading a household at Hadley, Hampshire County, Massachusetts which contained 1 male over age 16, 1 male under age 16, and 2 females. Of interest, Elijah Lee, father of Naphthali's wife, was heading a household nearby.
Naphthali married Jemima Lee (b. perhaps 13 Sep 1766 at Killingly, CT), daughter of Elijah and Lusana (?) Lee of Hadley, and had the following son:
(1) William Lee Kenfield: Born 10 August 1787 at Old Hadley, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Died 1 March 1857 in Hastings Township, Barry County, Michigan. Employed as a farmer. In 1837 moved to Michigan, settling 1st near Duck Lake in Calhoun County. In November 1839 moved to Hastings Township, Barry County, Michigan, where Hiram became a prominent citizen. Married (1st) Polly Marid Ingraham (b. abt 1820 in NYS, d. 2 Jan 1847), daughter of Frederick Ingraham, in 1840 in Hastings Township and had the following son:

The Standishs were originally from Benson Township, Rutland County, Vermont, and Henry was a descendant of Mayflower passenger, Captain Myles/Miles Standish (b. 1584, d. 3 Oct 1656, age 72). Hiram and Sophia had the following children:

8 Ebenezer Kentfield
1. Biographical notes:
Born 1704 in Northampton County, Massachusetts, perhaps the son of William Kentfield, generation 9, above. Died 14 December 1755/56 (age 51) at Fort William Henry (near Lake George), New York during the French and Indian War; interred South Cemetery in Belchertown. His death was the first recorded at the church in Belchertown, Massachusetts (originally Cowle’s Spring, then Cold Spring, then, in 1761, Belcher Town in honor of Territorial Governor Jonathan Belcher).
Ebenezer was at Belchertown when he went to war. It is not known if his remains were actually returned to Belchertown, but his name is beside his wife’s on the gravestone in South Cemetery. A grandson of this Ebenezer Kentfield said his grandfather Kentfield came from the west side of the river to Belchertown.

1880 US Census: Selah Kenfield, age 76 (b. MA; parents birth location unknown) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Algoma Township, Winnebago County, Wisconsin. The household also included his wife, Parthena Kenfield, age 72 (b. NYS; parents birth location unknown). Of interest, the household headed by his son, A. Kenfield, age 32, was enumerated directly before him on the same census page.
Selah Kenfield married Parthenia B. Stanford (photos) (b. 13 Nov 1808 in Leyden Twp, Lewis Co., NY, d. 3 Apr 1894, age 85, in Algoma Twp, Winnebago Co., WI; interred there with Selah), daughter of Richard and Parthenia (?) Stanford (also great-great-granddaughter of Lord Stanford of England), and moved to Wisconsin via oxen team. Selah and Parthena had the following children:

Immigrated to America about 1760 with his wife, two sons and a daughter-in-law, settling near Oakham, Massachusetts in a crude log cabin, which shortly thereafter was destroyed by fire ignited by lightning. They lost all of their belongs except a brass kettle, in which they did all of their cooking. It was a desperate situation when Mr. And Mrs. Bratton, who apparently inspired the Kentfields to follow them to Whittingham, Vermont.

(2. James “Jim” Madison Kenfield: Born 1949 at Watertown, Jefferson County, New York. Married (1st) Linda Lou Card (b. 1950), daughter of Lewis A. and Berdelle (?) Card, in 1968; subsequently divorced. James and Linda (Card) Kenfield had the following children:
(a. Alan (Kenfield) Ludlow: Born 1970 at Panama City, Panama (Central America). Formally adopted by his step-father, (?) Ludlow. Married Angela "Angie" Jo Ferraro (b. 1984 at Des Moines, Polk Co., IA) in 2004 at Sugar Hill, Gwinnett County, Georgia. Angela had married (1st) (?) Haynes and had the following son:

In 2022 Alan and Angela (Ferraro)(Haynes) Ludlow resided in Georgia. They had the following children:

Following Sue's death, James Madison Kenfield married (3rd) Rose Mary (?) and resided in Texas.
(3. George Wendell Kenfield: Born 5 May 1950 at Watertown, Jefferson County, New York. Died 24 July 1965 at Watertown from injuries received in a farm accident.

Born 16 September 1919 at Rodman, Jefferson County, New York. Died 8 September 1994; took his own life on Pink School House Road near Evans Mills; cremated 11 September. Operated a dairy farm at Burrville, Jefferson County, New York. Was also employed for a period of time as a Deputy Sheriff.
2. Military service:
Inducted into the US Army at Pontiac, Michigan on 7 September 1942. Received training at Camp Crowder, Missouri. In January 1943 was sent to Camp McCain, Mississippi; then to Tennessee for maneuvers. Was a member of the Signal Corps and was awarded the Bronze Star for heroic actions during World War II.
3. Wife: Lucina Mae Van Allen, generation 1 of the Van Allen Annex.
Born 21 April 1924 on the family farm in LeRay Township (near Evans Mills), Jefferson County, New York, daughter of Howard and Jessie Mae (Kelsey) Van Allen. Died 13 August 2020 at home in Henderson Township, Jefferson County, New York. Married (1st) Gordon Francis Kenfield on 23 April 1942 at Theresa, Jefferson County, New York; divorced in 1978.
