Ireland) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Gouverneur Township, St. Lawrence County, New York.  His real estate was valued at $500, and his personal property was valued at $500.  The household also included his wife, Catherine Kinney, age 41 (b. Ireland); son, Oren Kinney, age 14 (b. NYS); son, John Kinney, age 12 (b. NYS); daughter, Delia Kinney, age 10 (b. NYS); son, William Kinney, age 8 (b. NYS); son, Joseph Kinney, age 5 (b. NYS); and daughter, Juliett Kinney, age 2 (b. NYS).  Of interest, James Kinney, age 16 (b. 1880 US Census: Michael Kinney, age 62 (b. Ireland; parents b. Ireland), married, and a retired farmer, apparently resided in the household headed by his son, William Kinney, age 28 (b. NYS) and employed as a farmer in Gouverneur Township, St. Lawrence County, New York.  No record of Michael's wife recorded with him.

1880 US Census: Joseph Kinney, age 25 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), single, and employed as a farm laborer, resided in the household headed by Rufus Smith, age 33 (b. NYS) in Gouverneur Township, St. Lawrence County, New York.

 

1900 US Census: Joseph Kinney, age 44 (b. Aug 1855 in NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in DeKalb Township, St. Lawrence County, New York.  The household also included his wife of 15 years, Olive Kinney, age 34 (b. May 1866 in NYS; parents b. NYS), who had had 1 child, still alive; and son, Guy H. Kinney, age 11 (b. Aug 1888 in NYS).  Of interest, the household headed by Horace Hurlburt, age 30 (b. May 1870) and David G. Hurlburt, age 56 (b. Dec 1843) were enumerated nearby on the same census page.

1905 NYS Census: Olive Kinney, age 40, was heading a household in DeKalb Township, St. Lawrence County, New York.  The household also included her son, Guy H. Kinney, age 17.

 

1910 US Census: Olive Kinney, age 46 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and widowed, who had her own income and had had 1 child, still alive, resided with her son, Guy Kinney, age 21 (b. NYS) in DeKalb Township, St. Lawrence County, New York.  Of interest, the household headed by Horace Hurlbut, age 39, was enumerated next door, and that household included his mother, Julia Hurlbut, age 65 (b. NYS; father b. CT; mother b. RI) and widowed.

NYS) and employed as a dairy farmer, was heading a household on Osbornville Road in DeKalb Township, St. Lawrence County, New York.  The household also included his wife of less than 1 year, Vera Kinney, age 19 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), who had had no children; and mother, Olive Kinney, age 46 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), and widowed, who had her own income and had had 1 child, still alive.  Of interest, the household headed by Horace Hurlbut, age 39, was enumerated next door, and that household included his mother, Julia Hurlbut, age 65 (b. NYS; father b. CT; mother b. RI) and widowed.

NYS) and employed as a locomotive fireman for the steam railroad, was heading a household at 875 LeRay Street in the City of Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Vera Kinney, age 29 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS); daughter, Marion Kinney, age 9 (b. NYS); son, Aubrey Kinney, age 8 (b. NYS); son, Kay Kinney, age 3 years and 1 month (b. NYS); daughter, Esther Kinney, age 4 months (b. NYS); and mother, Olive Kinney, age 53 (b. NYS; parents b. VT) and widowed, with no occupation recorded.

 

1930 US Census: Guy H. Kinney, age 41 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a painter and decorator of private homes, was heading a household at 875 Leray Street in the City of Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.  He married 1st at age 18.  His residence was valued at $2,500.  The household also included his wife, Vera H. Kinney, age 39 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), who married 1st at age 17; mother, Olive M. Kinney, age 64 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), widowed (no date of 1st marriage recorded) and employed as a printer for a printing house; son, Aubrey J. Kinney, age 19 (b. NYS), single, and employed as a servant in private homes; son, Kay K. Kinney, age 13 (b. NYS); daughter, Ester E. Kinney, age 10 (b. NYS); son, Guy Kinney, Jr., age 7 (b. NYS); son, David L. Born , daughter of Joseph H. and Frances (Brown) Burnham.  Died .   At age 19, while a resident of DePeyster Township, St. Lawrence County, New York, married (1st) Guy Hurlbut Kinney, age 21, on 21 July 1909 (license issued 14 Jul 1909) in DePeyster Township, St. Lawrence County,New York.  Following Guy's death, Vera (Burnham) Kinney married (2nd) Millard Carpenter, who resided at Watertown, New York and worked for the railroad.

 

1940 US Census: Vera H. Kinney, age 49 (b. NYS) and widowed, with no occupation recorded, was heading a household on Main Street in the Village of Evan Mills, LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  She had completed 2 years of high school.  The household also included her son, David L. Kinney, age 14 (b. NYS), who had completed 5th grade; daughter, Carolynn F. Kinney, age 10 (b. NYS), who had completed 8th grade; and boarder, Carmen J. Sheets, age 65 (b. Canada) and employed as nigh foreman in a milk factory, who had completed 1 year of high school and was a naturalized citizen of the US.  The Kinneys resided in the same township on 1 April 1935; Carmen Sheets resided elsewhere in Jefferson County.

f. David "Bud" Lee Kinney: (photos) Born 1926 in New York.  In 2007 resided at Dexter, Jefferson County, New York and Zephyrhills, Florida.  Married Mary E. (?) (photos).

 

g. Carolynn Frances Kinney: (photos) Born 16 August 1929 at home on LeRay Street in the City of Watertown, Jefferson County, New York.  (Of interest: Carolynn's mother was going to name her Carol Lynn Kinney, but Carolynn's grandmother Burnham said to her daughter: "I don't know why you don't give her my name."  So, as a compromise, Carolynn's mother combined Carol and Lynn in the first name and made the middle name Frances.  Moved with her parents to LaFargeville, Jefferson County.  Carolynn married (1st) George William Signor (b. 14 Mar 1926, d. 10/8 Jan 1982 at home in Rochester (in the garage after clearing snow with a snow blower) from a heart attack) of Watertown in 1948.  George was a veteran of World War II, and after the war he couldn't find employment in northern New York, so he and Carolynn and their baby moved to Rochester, Monroe County, New York, where Carolynn's sister lived.  Initially employed there at Rochester Products.  Subsequently employed at Baush & Lomb, but was laid off, so George became a policeman in Rochester.  George and Carolynn had the following children:

 

(1. Dale William Signor: Born 1949 at Claxton Hepburn Hospital, Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence County, New York, while his parents were on vacation.

 

(2. Mark Wayne Signor: Born 1952 at (probably Strong Memorial Hospital) Rochester, Monroe County, New York.

 

(3. Donna Marie Signor: Born 1955 at (probably Strong Memorial Hospital) Rochester, Monroe County, New York.  In 2013 resided in Florida.

 

Following his death, Carolynn (Kinney) married (2nd), as his 2nd wife, Walter "Walt" Higgins Ford (d. in FL from complications of esophageal cancer (had been a heavy smoker)) of Hoosic Falls, Rensselaer County, New York, who worked as an engineer with Joseph Aubrey Kinney, Jr. at General Railway Signal and met Carolynn via that relationship.  Following Walt's death Carolynn was very close to Nick (?) of Dade City for 15 years (who she met through square dancing), until Nick's death.

Born 14 June 1911 in DeKalb Township, St. Lawrence County, New York.  Died 25 September 1978 at Mercy Hospital, Watertown, New York from complications of a heart attack; interred Grove Cemetery, Lafargeville, Orleans Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Employed initially after marriage as a farmer.  Then became a truck driver for the New York Air Brake Corporation in Watertown, New York.  Eventually became a machinist there.  Resided at LaFargeville, Fulton, Watertown, and Evans Mills, New York.  LaFargeville, Jefferson County, New York.

Born 3 February 1914 on Grindstone Island, Clayton Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Died 14 August 1994, age 80, at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio from complications following heart surgery; interred Grove Cemetery, LaFargeville, New York.  Married (1st) Joseph Aubrey Kinney on 5 May 1934 at Watertown, Jefferson County, with Reverend Paul Boiler officiating.  Married (2nd), as his 2nd wife, Harold F. Watson (photos) (more info), son of Silas M. and Eliza (Kidder) Watson (more info) of Evans Mills, New York, on 26 November 1983 and resided at Evans Mills and Calcium, New York.  Harold was employed as a television repairman and Justice of the Peace in the Village of Evans Mills, LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  In 1994 Alice resided at 148 Ridsdale Trailer Park, Calcium, New York.  Harold and his 1st wife had the following children:

 

a. Barbara Watson: Married Frances Mosher and resided at Sackets Harbor, Hounsfield Township, Jefferson County, New York.
