Born 15 January 1907 in Jefferson County, New York. Died 4 August 1960 at Sackets Harbor,
Hounsfield Township, Jefferson County.
For reasons that aren’t clear, Joseph moved his family for a period of
time to the New York City area, where he was employed as a taxi cab
driver/chauffeur, but he eventually returned to Jefferson County. Of interest, during the period they lived in
New York City, Joseph’s daughter, Gertrude, was sent north to live with her
Covey grandparents near Oxbow, a hamlet in Antwerp Township, Jefferson
County. Was employed as a blacksmith in
Evans Mills, Jefferson County until 1967.
