Johnston (b. 25 Jan 1877 in Great Bend Twp, PA) of Great Bend Township, Pennsylvania on 29 December 1903 at Birchardville, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania, where Emma resided before marriage.  Marriage license issued 21 December 1903.  Kenneth was employed as a farmer in Great Bend Township.  Emma and Kenneth had the following daughter:

 

a. Sarah Arlene Johnston: (more info) Born 1905.  Before marriage employed as a school teacher at Hallstead, Pennsylvania.  At age 37 married Elbert Sydney Banker (b. Great Bend Twp, PA), age 35, son of Arthur and Florence (Smith) Banker of Great Bend Township, Pennsylvania, on 12 December 1942 (license issued 12 Dec 1942) at Susquehanna, Pennsylvania.  Elbert was employed as a dairyman.

 

3. (?) Melhuish: Married Susan (?) (b. Mar 1833 in NYS) and had the following daughter:

 

1900 US Census: Susan Melhuish, age 67 (b. Mar 1833 in NYS; father b. VT; mother b. CT) and widowed, who had had 3 children, all dead, was heading a household in Pomfret Township, Chautauqua County, New York.

 

a. Allice Melhuish: Born about 1858 in Pennsylvania.  Married William Smith (b. abt 1853 in NYS).

 

1880 US Census: William Smith, age 27 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed drilling wells, was heading a household in Kendall Borough, McKean County, Pennsylvania.  The household also included his wife, Allice Smith, age 22 (b. PA; father b. PA; mother b. NYS); mother-in-law, Susan Melhuish, age 47 (b. NYS; parents b. CT); and boarder, Frank Groaner, age 21 (b. PA) and employed drilling oil wells.
