included his wife, Margaret Marchand, age 46 (b.
France) and mother of 2, who had also been married twice; and son, Claud (sp) Marchand, age 15 (b.
Jefferson Co., NY) and employed as a farmer.

York; interment Rosiere Cemetery. Immigrated to the United States in 1850 (age
20). Always resided
near Tylerville. Had a sister,
Mrs. Mary Marchaud of Gouverneur and a brother, John Absalon of St. Lawrence County.
1900 US Census: Margaret Merchand,
age 81 (b. Aug 1819 in France; parents b. France; immigrated to the US in
1850), widowed, and mother of 8, 1 of whom was alive, resided in the household
headed by her son-in-law, Lyman B. Canfield, age 63 (b. Mar 1837 in NYS) and
employed as a farmer, in Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York. The household also included Margaret's
daughter and Lyman's wife of 41 years, Mary D. Canfield, age 60 (b. Aug 1840 in
NYS; parents b. France).
1905 NYS Census: Margaret
Merchant, age 86, resided in the household headed by her son-in-law, Lyman B.
Canfield, age 69, in Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York (pg 4, lines
17-19). The household also included
Margaret's daughter (Lyman's wife), Mary C. Canfield, age 67.

Mary C. Merchant married Lyman B. Canfield (b. Mar
1837 in NYS; parents b. MA), who was employed as a farmer, and in 1900 resided
in Rutland Township, Jefferson County, New York. They had the following children:
