Born about 1768 at Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware; daughter of David and Hannah (Ford)(Grubb) Johnson.  Died 1 March 1816.  Married Erasmus Morton about 1792.

a. Aaron Morton: Born about 1789 in Pennsylvania.  Died 16 November 1857, age 68.

 

1850 US Census: Aaron Morton, age 61 (b. PA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Upper Chichester Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  His real estate was valued at $1,100.  The household also included his wife, Elizabeth Morton, age 50 (b. PA).  Of interest, the household headed by their son-in-law, Henry H. Hubble, age 24 (b. PA) and employed as a moulder, was enumerated directly after them on the same census page.  That household also included their daughter, Charlotte Hubble, age 23 (b. PA); and granddaughter, Marietta Hubble, age 1 (b. PA).

 

Aaron Morton married Elizabeth Cobourn/Coburn (b. abt 1800 in PA) on 13 February 1823 at Marcus Hook, Delaware County, Pennsylvania and had the following children:

 

(1. Sarah Ann Morton: Died June 1900.  Married Stringer McKim and had one son who died young.

 

(2. Charlotte Johnson Morton: Born 9 July 1827 in Pennsylvania.  Died 25 June 1912 at Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Married William H. Hubbell and had 7 children, including:

 

(a. Marietta Hubbell: Born about 1849 in Pennsylvania.  Died 17 November 1905, age 55; interred Saint Martin's Cemetery, Marcus Hook, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Married George C. Tompkins of Marcus Hook, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.

 

b. Hannah Johnson Morton: Born about 1793 at Marcus Hook, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  Died there 5 August 1836, age 48.  Married David Hayes (b. abt 1790, d. 21 Apr 1865; interred Old Saint Martin's Episcopal Cem., Marcus Hook, Delaware Co., PA) and had the following daughter:

PA); son, Erasmus Morton, Jr., age 22 (b. PA) and employed as a farmer; son, Wm H. Morton, age 15 (b. PA); perhaps niece or daughter, Hannah Price, age 23 (b. PA); Hannah Philipps, age 12 (b. PA); Robert Philipps, age 14 (b. Ireland); and Sarah Loaine, age 18 (b. DE) and black.

 

Erasmus Morton, Jr. married Abigail Price "Abby" (b. abt 1800 in PA, d. Jun 1866), daughter of Henry Price of Ridley, on 15 January 1823 and had the following children:

PA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Lower Chichester Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  The household also included his wife, Mary Morton, age 23 (b. DE); daughter, Arabella Morton, age 1 (b. PA); and laborer, Robert Clinker, age 18 (b. PA).

 

1860 US Census: Edwin R. Morton, age 40 (b. PA) and employed as a farmer?, was heading a household in Lower Chichester Township (Marcus Hook Post Office), Delaware County, Pennsylvania.  His real estate was valued at $4,000, and his personal property was valued at $1,000.  The household also included his wife, Mary E. Morton, age 34 (b. DE); daughter, Louisa Morton, age 11 (b. PA); daughter, Abby A. Morton, age 9 (b. PA); son, John Morton, age 7 (b. PA); son, William Morton, age 5 (b. PA); daughter, Elizabeth Morton, age 3 (b. PA); daughter, Maria Morton, age 4 months (b. PA); Sarah Martin, age 25 (b. DE); and Mary Hall, age 24 (b. PA).  Of interest, the household headed by William H. Morton, age 25, was enumerated before him on the same census page.

Morton, age 21 (b. PA); son, George W. Morton, age 1; and Catherine Friffe, age 35 (b. Ireland).  Of interest, the household headed by Edwin H. Morton, age 40, was enumerated after him on the same census page.

 

William H. Morton married Anna Walker (b. 29 Jun 1839, d. 1917), daughter of Samuel and Mary (?) Walker of Marcus Hook, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, on 23 March 1858 and had the following children:
