1870 US Census: Duty G., age 74, retired farmer, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Martha Mosher (age 68); and Melissa Hicks (age 34, employed as a house keeper).  All were born in New York State.

 

 

2. Allen J. Mosher: Born about 1798; perhaps brother of Duty G. Mosher, above.

 

1865 NYS Census: Allen J. Mosher, age 67 (b. Dutchess Co., NY) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He owned 52 acres of improved and 16 acres of unimproved land.  The household also included his son, Jason A. Mosher, age 35 (b. location illegible) and employed as a farmer; and daughter, Carolin Mosher, age 22 (b. Jefferson Co., NY).

 

1870 US Census: Allen J., age 72 and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in LeRay Township.   The household also included his wife, Eunice Mosher (age 53).

 

3. Ennis Mosher: Born about 1809; perhaps brother of Duty and Allen Mosher, above.  Died 1872, age 63 years 9 months; interred Sheepfold Cemetery.

 

1865 NYS Census: Ennis Mosher, age 56 (b. Albany Co., NY) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Catharine Mosher, age 50 (b. Jefferson Co., NY) and mother of 7; son, F. A. Mosher, age 10 (b. Oneida Co., NY); and mother, Sarah Mosher, age 93 (b. Dutchess Co., NY) and a widow.

 

1870 US Census: Ennis, age 61, a retired farmer, was heading a household in LeRay Township.  The household also included his wife, Catharine Mosher (age 55); and Lillie Waful (age 5).  All were born in New York State.

 

Ennis Mosher married Catherine (?) (b. abt 1815, d. 1885, age 71; interred Sheepfold Cem.) and, perhaps had the following child or grandchild:

1880 US Census: Weeden Mosher, age 30 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Rose Mosher, age 25 (b. NYS; parents b. Germany); son, George Mosher, age 1 (b. NYS); and brother-in-law, Henry Miller, age 15 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed working on the farm.

 

1900 US Census: Weeden Mosher, age 50 (b. Sep 1849 in NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife of 25 years, Rose Mosher, age 45 (b. May 1855 in NYS; parents b. Germany), who had had 2 children, 1 of whom was still alive [appears incorrect; should be 4 total, with 2 still alive]; son, Leon Mosher, age 14 (b. Jul 1885 in NYS; parents b. NYS); and son, Lenard Mosher, age 14 (b. Jul 1885 in NYS in NYS; parents b. NYS) [Leon & Leonard were adopted by Weeden and Rose].

 

  Weeden Mosher married Rose A. Miller (Born 1854, d. Dec 1920) on 16 June 1875 and had the following children:

1905 NYS Census: James Hogan, age 57 (b. US), was heading a household in Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Mary Hogan, age 51 (b. US); granddaughter, Agnes L. Holkins, age 18 (b. US); and granddaughter, Hazel E. Holkins, age 14 (b. US) [married Charles M. Hunter (b. abt 1889), son of A. J. and Ida (Blevens) Hunter, on 28 Sep 1909 in Jefferson Co., NY].

 

1905 NYS Census: Weeden Mosher, age 56, was heading a household in Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Rose A. Mosher, age 51; son, Leonard W. Mosher, age 19; and son, Leon H. Mosher, age 19.

 

1910 US Census: Weeden G. Mosher, age 61 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a dairy farmer, was heading a household on Town Line Road in Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife of 35 years, Rose A. Mosher, age 55 (b. NYS; parents b. Germany), who had been married once and had had 4 children, 2 of whom were still alive; and son, Leonard W. Mosher, age 24 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), single, and employed as a dairy farmer.

 

1930 US Census: Leonard Mosher, age 44 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and employed as a dairy farmer, was heading a household at Strickland Corners, Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He married 1st at age 26.  The household also included his wife, Agnes Mosher, age 43 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS), who married 1st at age 24; and father, Weldon Mosher, age 80 (b. NYS; parents b. NYS) and widowed, who married 1st at age 29.

 

1940 US Census: Leonard Mosher, age 54 (b. NYS), widowed, and employed as a farmer, was heading a household at Sterlingville, Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York.  He had completed 8th grade.  The household also included his father, Weeden Mosher, age 90 (b. NYS) and widowed, who had completed 6th grade; and hired hand, Myrtle Morrill, age 63 (b. NYS) and widowed, who had completed 7th grade.  They resided in the same house on 1 April 1935.

 

At age 25, Leonard W. Mosher married (1st) Agnes Luella Holkins (photos) (more info) (b. 26 Oct 1886 in Philadelphia Twp, Jefferson Co., NY, d. there Thursday, 16 Feb 1939 at her Sterlingville home, age 24, daughter of Stanton Fanning and Caroline L. (Hart) Holkins, on 28 June 1911 (license issued 26 Jun 1911) in Philadelphia Township, Jefferson County, New York and resided there at Sterlingville, LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  Before marriage Agnes was employed as a school teacher.  Married (2nd), as her 2nd husband, Mrs. Myrtle Husted (more info) on Thursday, 24 February 1944 at the home of Floyd Pease and resided at Philadelphia, Jefferson County, New York.

Jefferson Co., NY) and employed as a mechanic, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Louisa W. Mosher, age 27 (b. Jefferson Co., NY) and mother of 2; daughter, Eugenia Mosher, age 5 (b. Jefferson Co., NY); and daughter, Jesse Mosher, age 3 months (b. Jefferson Co., NY).

 

1870 US Census: Charles E., age 37 and employed making axel halves, was heading a household in LeRay Township.  The household also included his wife, Louisa H. Mosher (age 33); daughter, Eugenia Mosher (age 9); daughter, Jesse Mosher (age 5); and Julia Mosher (age 1).  All were born in New York State.

 

1880 US Census: Charles, age 46 and employed as a laborer, was heading a household in LeRaysville, LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife, Louisa Mosher (age 42); daughter, Jessie Mosher (age 15); and daughter, Julia Mosher (age 11).  All, and their parents, were born in New York State.

 

1910 US Census: Charles E., age 76 and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in LeRay Township, Jefferson County, New York.  The household also included his wife of 50 years, Louise H. Mosher (age 72, had had 4 children, 3 still alive).

 

Charles E. Mosher married Louisa H. (?) (b. 1837, d. 1920) and had 4 children, including the following:
