County, New York State. Died 11 April 1896 at
Ulster/Towanda, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
1850 US Census: John, age 44, was heading a farming household
in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. The
household also included his wife, Martha (age 41); son, Bradford (age 21), a
farmer; son, Sterne (age 19), a farmer; son, George (age 16), a farmer;
daughter, Mary (age 13); daughter, Emma A. (age 10); son, Read (age 7); son,
Ward (age 5); son, Jay (age 4 ˝); and brother, Leonard McKee (age 36), a
farmer.

Rutland, VT, d. 24 Jul 1875) and Sally (Andrus) Kendall (b. 29 Apr 1806 at
Cornwall Twp, Addison Co., VT), and had the following daughter:

(more info) (b. 22 Apr 1838 at Eaton, Madison Co., N.Y., d. 20
Jan 1934), son of Orrin (b. Eaton, N.Y.) and Irene (Warren) Bonney
(b. Eaton, N.Y.), on 24 December 1859 at Franklin Township, Pennsylvania. Of interest, Orrin Bonney,
Sr., who always lived on the Bonney homestead at
Eaton, New York, was the son of Levi Bonney, who was
raised in New England and was one of the 1st settlers of Eaton. Levi Bonney, one of
the 1st abolitionists at Eaton, had 7 sons and 5 daughters. His son, Orrin, Sr., had 5 sons and 1
daughter, the 4th being Orrin, Jr.
Orrin Bonney, Jr. was
raised and educated at Eaton, New York and started his farming career
there. He and Emma resided at Eaton for
about 4 years (until 1863), when they moved to Emma’s homeland in Franklin
Township, Pennsylvania where they worked 2 farms. The family moved briefly to Barclay,
Pennsylvania, where Orrin left his family in 1864 to serve in the Union Army
during the Civil War (Company B, 207th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry
Regiment). After Orrin’s discharge from
the Army in 1865 they moved again – to Beach Flats, Canton Township,
Pennsylvania, where he was a farmer. In
1877 Orrin and his family moved back to Franklin Township, Pennsylvania where
he operated a 100-acre dairy farm and also raised live stock and grain.
Orrin and Emma (McKee) Bonney
raised the following children:
(1. Carl Galusha Bonney: Born 23 November 1863. Married Mercy Gamble (b. 23 Sep 186_) on 23
October 1886 and had the following children:

1992, age 104, at the Bradford County Manor, Bradford County, Pennsylvania;

Cemetery, Liberty Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Married Elizabeth, C. (?)
(b. 1847) and had the following daughter:

Resided in Pennsylvania. Employed as a blacksmith.
h. Jay McKee: Born about 1846/9 in Pennsylvania. Employed as a

1. Biographical notes:
Born 18 December 1831. Died 24
December 1887 in Pennsylvania; interred Franklin Center Cemetery, Franklin
Township, Pennsylvania. Was employed as a grocer.
At the time of the 1860 US Census Sterne was living in his parents’
household at Franklin, Pennsylvania. Was
a Sergeant in Company B of the 207th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry
Regiment during the Civil War and lost an arm to wounds. Joined the First Christian Church of Franklin
on 26 November 1859, and on 31 December 1859 was elected Trustee. However, on 19 February 1881 the Church
resolved: “That the name of Sterne McKee be dropped from the records of this
church by his request he having made ship wreck of the faith and is now an
avowed infidel.”
1870 US Census: Sterne Mckee,
age 38 (b. PA) and employed as a grocer, was heading a household in Franklin
Township (Franklindale PO), Bradford County,
Pennsylvania. His real estate was valued
at $3,000 and his personal property was valued at $2,500. The household also included his wife, Wiliminia, Mckee, age 36 (b. PA);
daughter, Ella Mckee, age 14 (b. PA) and in school;
son, Merton Mckee, age 8 (b. PA); daughter, Bessie
McKee, age 2 months (b. PA); and brother, Reed Mckee,
age 27 (b. PA) and employed as a grocer.
1880 US Census: Sterne McKee, age 48 (b. PA; father
b. NY; mother b. PA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household at LeRoy, Franklin Township, Bradford County,
Pennsylvania. The household also
included his wife, Wilmina McKee, age 46 (b. PA;
parents b. PA); daughter, Mattie McKee, age 8 (b. PA); son, Mertin
McKee, age 19 (b. PA) and employed working on the farm; daughter-in-law, Rosa
McKee, age 20 (b. PA; parents b. PA) and employed doing house work; son, John
M. McKee, age 5 (b. PA) and Niece, Dell Morse, age 17 (b. PA), and employed
doing house work.
2. Wife: Wilmina/Wilminia/Wilhamenia/Wilamenia Allen (photos)
Born 1 December 1831 at West
Franklin, Pennsylvania, daughter of David and Elizabeth “Betsy” (Smiley) Allen. Died 15 February 1897 in
Pennsylvania. Joined
the First Christian Church of Franklin on 6 October 1860. Like her husband, Sterne McKee, Wilmena’s membership was subsequently dropped by the
church.

son of James and Emeline (Lantz) Roof, on 24 March
1874 at Franklindale, Franklin Township, Bradford
County, Pennsylvania.
Joseph attended the State Normal School at
Mansfield, Pennsylvania for one term as well as the Susquehanna Collegiate
Institute at Towanda for one term. He
was employed as a farmer in Franklin Township, Pennsylvania.
Ella and Joseph Roof had the following children:
(1. James Raymond Roof: Born 3 October 1875 at Franklindale, Franklin Township, Bradford
County, Pennsylvania. Died 27 September
1958 at Monroeton, Bradford County, Pennsylvania;
interred Christian Church Cemetery in Franklindale. Was employed in the lumber
business. Married Emma Jane Brown
(b. 11 Jan 1877), daughter of William and Euphemia
(Hatch) Brown, on 5 June 1900 and had the following children:

b. Merton Malvern McKee: (photos) Born 1861. Died 1929. Married Rosetta "Rose/Rosa" Gilbert, daughter of Nelson
and Catherine (?) Gilbert of Franklin Township,
Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Of
interest, Nelson Gilbert's ancestor, Daniel Gilbert was a veteran of the
Revolutionary War.
1860 US Census: Nelson Gilbert, age 48, was heading
a household in Franklin Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. The household included, among others, Rosetta
Gilbert, age 9 months.
1870 US Census: Nelson Gilbert, age 58, was heading
a household in Franklin Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. The household also included at least his
wife, Catharine Gilbert, age 41, and daughter, Rosetta Gilbert, age 11.
Merton and Rosetta (Gilbert) McKee had at least the following

in PA; parents b. PA) and employed as a grocery clerk, was heading a household
on Wilbur Avenue in Sayre Borough, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. The household also included his wife of 2
years, Mattie Williams, age 29 (b. Dec 1870 PA; parents b. PA), who had had 1
child, still alive; son, Harold S. Williams, age 3 months (b. Feb 1900 in PA);
and servant, Ida Gilbert, age 36 (b. Mar 1864 PA; parents b. PA) and single.
1910 US Census: Fred Williams, age 41 (b. PA;
parents b. PA) and employed as a farmer, was heading a household in Franklin
Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
The household also included his wife of 12 years, Mattie Williams, age
38 (b. PA; parents b. PA), who had had 1 child, still alive; and son, Harold S.
Williams, age 10 (b. PA). His next door
neighbor was the household headed by Samuel Williams, age 76 (b. PA; father b.
PA; mother b. NY), which also included his wife of 51 years, Julia Williams,
age 73 (b. PA; parents b. PA), who had had 3 children, 1 of whom was still
alive, and his sister-in-law, Susan Gerould, age 81 (b. PA, parents b. PA) and
widowed, who had had no children.
Martha McKee married Frederick "Fred" W.
Williams (photos), son of Samuel and Julia (?) Williams of Franklin
Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania, and had the following son:

Born 20 February 1900 at Franklindale, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Died Sunday,
7 March 1993, age 93, at Memorial Hospital, Towanda; interred Franklin Center
Cemetery, Franklin Township. Attended
school in Powell and completed courses in electrical engineering, business
management, and accounting. On 7 August
1940 started work for the Sylvania Electric Company in Towanda. Prior to death resided at Monroeton,
Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Employed as manager and partner of Jennings Auto Parts Company and,
later, the Meredith Motor Sales, Towanda. Was also a member of numerous social and
civic organizations.
Married Hettamena “Hettie” Wattles (photos) (d. 19 May 1989) of Towanda on 21 December 1929
and had the following daughter:
(a. Shirley E. Williams: (photos) Married Philip Giardina
(photos) and resided at Corning, New York.
Martha F. (McKee) Williams may have married (2nd)
