Born about 1734 at Biberach in the Duchy of Wurttenburg,
Germany. Died 3 April 1797 in Lynn
Township, Northampton (now Lehigh) County, Pennsylvania. Emigrated from Germany to America on board
the sailing ship "Peggy," arriving at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on
16 October 1754. Settled in Lynn
Township, Northampton (now Lehigh) County, Pennsylvania prior to 1765. On 12 November 1768 Henry took out a warrant
to purchase 70 acres of land in Lynn Township.
In 1812 he and his two sons, John and Henry, were among those included
on the Lynn Township tax list. Between
1816 and 1817 Henry purchased lots 83, 129, and 130 in New Tripoli,
Pennsylvania.

Many of Jonas's descendants resided in the vicinity of Hamburg and
Shoemakerville, Berks County, Pennsylvania, where some changed the spelling of
